These shots are direct feed captures and completely accurate, however. Flaws tend to stand out when you examine still shots like this. In motion on your TV, it's a lot less obvious. This is the same stuff Eurogamer always picks up on.whatevermort said:Well, I must have the special Jesus edition of Bioshock 2, as my 360 copy looks like neither of those. It's clean and crisp and not even close to blurry.
dark10x said:OK, here's one more comparison showing higher resolution particles on 360. Again, this seems to be very common with PS3 games.
Collect-ability and friends. If you had the 360 version of the first, which was superior, dark10x, why not just get the 360 version of the second?
dark10x said:Collect-ability and friends.
All of my friends own PS3s and I actually use the trophies as comparison in addition to the potential for actually trying multiplayer. I don't really know anyone who games much on the 360 anymore. :\
The second reason would be library building. There is just something less appealing about collecting on the 360 as it seems like a dangerous system to rely on in the long term (failure wise). Plus, there is always a risk of getting one of those shitty recycled cases with the gaping holes in them on 360. I know, it's strange, but that's how I role. The original XBOX is one of the least desirable systems to collect and I kind of regret not buying more PS2 versions of games from that gen.
However, the experience is most important so a superior 360 port would have me selecting that version regardless.
How sensitive are you to framerate issues? Did you notice the constant slowdown in the original Bioshock PS3 port? I mean, it was never smooth. I only ask as people have different tolerance levels for this stuff.Deepack said:Check my post on the previous page regarding the framerate.
The difference in those screens might have something to do with the LOD-Pop in which is common with U3 engine games.

I'm hoping I can get a collectors edition without a pre-order, so I'll probably go with whichever version I can find in that form.
Lince said:so guys I'm installing this today (too much MAG) and have a question, DX10 or DX9? any significant difference? oh and I guess no pad support helps selling more console copies, MW2, ME2 and now this, shame!
Well, Modern Warfare 1 and Mass Effect 1 both lacked pad support on the PC, so it was no surprise when the sequels were the same. Bioshock, however, had fantastic pad support on the PC, so it's disappointing to see that it was removed.Lince said:so guys I'm installing this today (too much MAG) and have a question, DX10 or DX9? any significant difference? oh and I guess no pad support helps selling more console copies, MW2, ME2 and now this, shame!

And how frequent are the escort missions? I'm asking because I hate escort missions with all my heart. It was the worst part of Bioshock.whatevermort said:No. The first I was constantly tense; this one I'm not. And that's not to take anything away from 2, as the situation is far less reliant on you being timid.
That's extremely upsetting to read. The first game wasn't scary at all, so to hear that this one is even less so is disappointing.whatevermort said:No. The first I was constantly tense; this one I'm not. squ said:Going for the 360-version today and I just wanted to know something about online. Yeah, online, never thought I would care about multiplayer in Bioshock, but, uh... Someone enjoyed it? Is it fun/аddicting? What about lag-factor(i'm from eu)? And how long does it take to rank up?
dark10x said:One thing I do see is that particles seem to be half resolution on PS3 (which is very common) to save bandwidth. That suggests that they took framerate more seriously this time.
Anyone play the PS3 version yet? I must know how smooth the framerate is (especially compared to the shitty original port).

Truant said:I really don't mind stuff like that. Sure, it looks worse in a blown up image straight from the buffer, but I doubt the difference is as big when you see it in motion on your TV.

Solo said:So, how is the game, Truant? You and I had similar feelings about the first game and the necessity/direction of the sequel.
Truant said:I've only played past what people are referring to as the tuturial area, and it didn't leave a great impression. It wasn't bad, but I always got the feeling of the game being approached as fan fiction. The quality of everything is obviously very professional, but the way things are presented, the story beats, etc. just give me that vibe. People are saying the game does get a lot better after the area I just finished, so I'm definitely excited to see what happens next.
Like I said earlier, my main problem is that the game does a very poor job of re-introducing Rapture to you. They added a lot of cool stuff, but most of it is just there without any sort of real introduction, like how the first was very particular in the way it presented new information to the player. Here things just happen, and I constantly get the feeling that I managed to skip the opening levels.
