Glad to hear I'm not the only one running across that. It happened to me a few times, and every time I was expecting to turn my 360 back on only to see those three dreaded red lights, similar to past experiences. Thankfully it appears to be game specific. And yeah, I've been pleasantly surprised by the MP as well, it makes for a neat break from the main campaign. I wasn't expecting that.

I know it has to be fairly wide spread. For one, reading through this thread others have experienced it. For another, multiplayer times when I was partied up with people playing Bioshock 2, their Bioshock 2 crashed, and they usually rejoined the party like "damn, my 360 froze all of a sudden I had to reset."

I thought maybe it was an issue with installing Bioshock 2 to harddrive.

So I wonder: is your Bioshock 2 installed to harddrive?

i actually don't like the multiplayer at all. It's probably the laggiest game I've ever tried to play on live other than The Darkness. Seriously, Bioshock 2 makes Gears of War 2 seem like cream corn.

Seems like a problem more on your end - I have fairly lag free matches, and my internet connection isn't the best. (3mbps DSL)

Just finished this on normal yesterday, great fun. Playing on Hard now with Drill maxed out, freezing drill, eve saver and drill specialist, combined with freezing blas and electro bolt. I'm a fucking beast with this drill now. :lol

In terms of gameplay way beyond Bioshock 1. Level design was great but not as strong as the first one. Non-splicer characters were kind of uncanny valley. I'll play the multiplayer after the freezing patch gets out.

Two questions though...

1.
wtf where is Tenenbaum at during the whole game?

2.
I got the Savior trophy for saving Grace, Stanley and Gil. Is it even possible to kill Gil? I didn't notice when I met him.

Tenenbaum was such a lazy and pointless bit of BS1 fan service. Its like "oh hey, remember her?", and then shes gone.

Loving Bioshock 2 so far. I'm considering dropping the difficulty down to easy with vitachambers disabled, I dislike the constant health scrounging especially seeing as I'm a Big Daddy. I feel a bit underpowered, though that might be just because I suck at the game.

I don't think download speeds have anything to do with lag, but my download speeds are 18M constant. It's laggy.

Big pink/red water tank. He has mutated into something very weird but you can see through the water. You could have pressed a button there to kill him. His recording tells you not to listen to what he has become and hill him anyway... it's right before you go down the lift into the last section

Thanks I guess I missed that.
I will kill him in my 2nd playthrough :lol

If you power up your guy right you are a god by the end of the game. During the final battle i didn't fire my gun once. :lol

again, I experience very little lag and those who I play with experience very little lag.

Conclusion: it's a problem on your end or at the very least you're getting unlucky with your hosts.

PC version bad or something? I don't have a PC that can play this game anyway, but sorry to hear that.

I would say that the PC port wasn't very high priority for them. In addition to the same glitches you're running into on the console version (as well as the FOV issue), the lack of controller support and the afforementioned unmapping bug, they made the insane decision to put a framelock on the multiplayer matches. It's even crazier since the apartment isn't framelocked. It's just very sloppy all around.

I still wouldn't give up 60 fps in the single player for the world, though. :lol :lol :lol

I wish they would remove that 30 FPS frame lock on physics, i just dont get why its there. Theres this one point in the game where somebody kicks a bathysphere thing down towards you, and im guessing it wasnt physics based, so it looked smooth as butter as it came towards me and completely noticable from everything else.

The worst part about the physics renderer is that it often goes lower than 30 fps, which makes a lot of those moments look like a kindergartner's flip book. One time, I had attatched a rocket spear to an enemy who died a split second before the spear hit him, and the resulting physics made it look like a Silent Hill enemy being rendered and animated on the DS. Ghastly, ghastly stuff.

I think I hit a music glitch in Pauper's Drop. Really tense music started playing when encountering some of the larger enemies, and once they were dispatched, the music never stopped until I left for the next area. Ridiculously annoying.

Actually, I think the part near the end where you play
as the Little Sister
is as singularly memorable as anything from Bioshock 1. It's far more unsettling than anything in that game, not least because it dawns on you that this sick conditioning is what they're always seeing. And then, to top it off, whenever
you harvest someone, it momentarily switches to the real Rapture, decaying and all, and you hear a little gasp from the Little one.

Quite the nice finisher they add, the conclusion was very well done.

Easily my favorite part of the game.
I want a little sister dammit.

Reminder, If anyone has a Home code and wont use it, please hook me up! PM me please. Thanx and forgive me for asking, this thread moves fast!

So is it worth it to do the Trials in multiplayer in the long run in terms of leveling the fastest? Or should I just stick with my best load out. I just hit 11 and I've been doing trials. Not sure if I would have gotten there any faster if I wasn't messing around with guns I'm horrid with or crappy plasmids.

Also, survival of the fittest seems to be the quickest way to level I found. I've had a couple 750+ games and I haven't really played that many. I just had a 20-0 game because I got a Big Daddy suit after my 2nd kill and hardly got touched the rest of the game lol.

I just wish there weren't so many connection/freezing problems.

Just finished Dyonisis Park. Didn't really like it that much.

I'd rank the levels as follows:
1. Siren Alley
2. Pauper's Drop
3. Audonis Luxury Resort
4. Dyonisis Park
5. Ryan Amusements

I'm not saying it's broken. It's just noticeably more laggy than any other of the popular multiplayer shooters. Compared to Halo 3, Gears of War, or any of the modern warfare games it seems to skip around a lot. Maybe those games are smoothing the engine, but whatever it is the game doesn't seem to perform as well as I had hoped.

There are more than 5 levels, right?

There's also
Fontaine Futuristics, and Persephone's Point.

Of course, levels in this game are significantly longer than levels in other games.

Trials become somewhat more important later on, but I rarely shoot for them - they usually come to me naturally, as I experiment with the various equipment. I've only ever aimed for like five trials in total, ones which I knew I could achieve with a tiny bit of effort (take five eve hypo's on one life, take five ammo's on one life), but most of the time the trials go uncompleted.

The game mode for the quickest leveling for me seems to be Capture the Sister. I routinely get 1200+ on it. It's simple, depending on how efficient you are at defending. Not only that, but if you're one of the lucky ones chosen to be a Big Daddy at the beginning of a defend mode, you'll likely net tons of killstreak bonuses.

It's mere coincidence that this is also my favorite mode to play, so it's win-win.

Need some help, but I think I'm fucked.

I'm in Siren's Alley, looking for
Daniel
in the
Pink Pearl
. There's a room that's a
peepshow, with a hooker strung up from the ceiling
. I got into that room, but I can't get out.

When the doors shut on me, there was some dude yelling something like,
"I'm paying by the minute"
, but I think my bots took care of him. There's 3 little windows in the room, but I can't jump out. There's a door-switch on the wall,
which I electrocuted to get in here in the first place,
but I can't activate it or shock it. Can't bash my way out. One bot's in the room with me, but another bot is outside. I think it's trying to get in, which keeps the doors from opening. Can't deactivate the bot through the door. Can't send him anywhere with Security Command.

Anyone else ever have this problem?

damn, 3 hours ago. Harsh :(

I remember the room you're talking about and had no issues with it, so I am assuming that your game is glitching and you have to go back to your previous save :(

The thuggish splicer comment is odd to me; I must have run into hundreds of them over the course of the game (medium difficulty - 360). Of course, I never got past 75% on the Big Sisters despite having Keen Observer 1 or 2 at all times, so there you go.

Are you sure you're not consfusing leadheads? The thuggish splicers only use stuff like pipes, they literally do not show up anymore. The normal splicers with guns are different.

Hmm, really? I've played Capture the Sister a handful of times and never came close to that. I guess I should give it another try.

Yeah, I think I'll just keep experimenting with equipment too. It's what caused me to really like Geyser Trap. I thought it would be lame, but once I tried it, I love it.

According to my google-fu, no, the last Thuggish Splicer shows up in
Pauper's Drop
. I had to re-load a save in there because I accidentally harvested the last freaking little sister in the game, and messed everything up, and was able to finish up my research.

On my first playthrough (up through the end of
Fontaine Futuristics
), I was able to get everything (including Big Sisters), except for Brute Splicers (
Which you see some of in the very last level anyways, as it turns out
). That was without Keen Observer 2.

Edit: We're spoilering locations? Otay.

Just beat the game. I'd pretty much echo what everyone else has been saying about it. Combat is way, way better. Story felt a little hollow, but still had a pretty decent plot. Overall I'd say it falls short of eclipsing the first one, but still a pretty great game. And I played on PC and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for an engrossing first person story-driven experience.

As for multiplayer, I don't think I'll ever touch it, and I have no problem saying that seeing as how I pre-purchased battle field bad company 2 and its AMAZING!

If you backtrack a bit after you get the telekinesis plasmid, through the door that requires a bolt charge, there should be a hidden diary right where you surface after the big fall.

It's funny, when I came to the surface, I saw it through the fan and the broken blade and I said "damn it, I know I can fish that out."

Then it dawned on me... "oh shit, I must be getting the telekinesis plasmid soon." It totally gave it away :lol

I have a feeling I missed some upgrade stations in Dionysus Park. I only remember getting one right near the beginning of the level.

Welp by far the scariest thing that has ever happened to me while playing a videogame just... happened.

I vented a Little Sister and then the game is like HOLY SHIT A BIG SISTER IS COMING BETTER HIDE BITCH so I start to freak out and panic and the shrilling violins kick in, and I'm in Pauper's Drop exploring around the jazz club before I head out to the exit, so what does my dumb ass do? I head straight into the EXTREMELY CONFINED jazz club because I remembered some halls leading to a small dead-end where one of the audio diaries were about the club shutdown and I thought oh god I'll back myself in there and line the fucker up with trap darts.

So on my way to said area, and thinking that since there's only one way to that specific spot that I won't run into her on the way there, she'll have to come through the entrance just as I did... well here she comes dashing by me in an extremely narrow hall and disappears around the corner.

I have never in my life. Ever. If that happens again I'll probably go into cardiac arrest.

Hahahah this experience is funny because I had a similar experience. I wasn't nearly as scared as you were, but I had
put the Little Sister in the vent by the Jazz Club. I see the message saying the Big Sister is coming, and I better prepare. I back into the Jazz Club thinking "there's no way in, she has to come through THAT door." And then, out of no where, the shrieking crazy Big Sister comes from inside the Jazz Club, from behind, I was like "OH SHI--"

Thing is, when I encountered her it was UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL I mean the hall is like 3 feet wide or some shit. It probably wouldn't have scared me as bad otherwise. god I hope nothing like that ever happens again.

without warning, Im so fucked!".

I'm just so glad that this game is satisfying my horror itch. The first Bioshock was definitely creepy and atmosphere-thick but it never really went in the way of completely freaking me out. Bioshock 2 has completely freaked me out on several occasions:

1. Entering the hotel floor and everything going dark, flipping on the flashlight and the low musical hums begin, and hearing splicers having conversations in their rooms
2. The Big Sister encounter that I just detailed, just what the hell
3. Randomly spotting Big Sisters peering in through windows at you from the open ocean, sometimes quickly swimming by small windows
4. Not super scary or anything but the splicers worshipping the altars is decidedly creepy
5. Holy fuck this game is awesome

About Big Sisters. The first one or two encounters were a bit frightening, like I said, but after that you become so strong so quick, I killed
the two Big Sisters together
without taking barely any damage on Hard difficulty/Vita Chambers off, first run through the game.

It was kinda disappointing that these creatures of terror were reduced so quickly, because I love them and their design. But it takes a bit away when you can walk up to every Big Daddy you see and fuck them up in seconds to get a bit of extra money or something.
