Black Panther Film Will Link to Avengers: Infinity War

Article from Collider

Kevin Feige said of Black Panther:

It’s a big geo-political action adventure that focuses on the family and royal struggle of T’Challa in Wakanda, and what it means to be a king. T’Challa’s story is very important to us as it links to the next Avengers films, which is why we brought it forward.

It’s difficult to postulate how the film will lead into Infinity War, especially so early on, but the MCU head honcho further remarked how this character brings with him “all of Wakanda, which is a whole new setting and culture to explore.”

Hopefully it's 97% standalone and 3% tie in. I'd like for the character to have some room to breathe, before having his universe littered with outside entities.

Would be pretty big news if it wasn't linked to the infinity war ... I mean praticaly every marvel movie is at this point

By lead in, they mean Thanos turns up in the mid scene credits for 25 seconds and goes 'mumble mumble something all part of my plan'

Thanos is gonna EAT Wakanda

One does not simply walk into Wakanda.

Given the speculation that Dr. Strange will revolve around the Soul Gem, I'm going to guess that Marvel will explain Wakanda's accelerated technology is due to abuse of the Time Gem.

Power - GOTG
Mind - Avengers/Avengers 2/Loki's Staff
Reality - Thor 2/Aether
Space - First Avenger/Avengers/Tesseract

Though the latter two could be swapped because they more or less did the same thing.

Edit: I wonder if any of the movies will introduce the Black Order. The idea of Thanos having his own miniboss squad is kind of fun, especially in a movie setting. His underling from the Avengers film does kind of look like Corvus Glaive.

You late, Feige said the Eye was the time gem.

BP must have the Soul

I know it's McGuffin and all, but it's really kinda weird that all the Infinity Stones, the most powerful shits in the universe, converged at Earth. It now especially stands out after they introduced the entire Galaxy in GOTG into MCU.

Calling it now...

Steve will bite it at the end of Civil War
Bucky will show up in Black Panther with Cap's busted shield
Black Panther will help him repair it and Bucky will become the new Captain America

That will be the lead-in.

I bet you're not that far off, honestly. I bet Wakanda is the one Earth location that Thanos wrecks, uniting the Avengers against him.

I'm not sure I like this, but I can see them introducing Wakanda - and then having Thanos trash it.

That's...not the way I would have imagined it.

Though the Soul Gem could tie into T'Challa's whole king of the dead thing he has going on these days.

Thanos comes to Wakanda, BP uses the Soul Gem to summon all the Wakandan warriors that ever lived to fight his army, while the heroes take on Thanos and still lose.

Not really news because all the marvel movies are linked. If a movie was self contained then that would be news.

They'd have to be dumb to do that and not expect a huge backlash from the fans. I'm not expecting it to tie into Infinity War that much.

Well... two of the ones we've seen so far weren't on Earth. The reality (Aether) and power (Orb) stones.

Lol Cap 2 was a good movie but all that "man it's like a legitimate 70s political thriller! Like 3 Days of the Condor but with super heroes!!" hype is pretty laughable in retrospect.

Black Panther will probably be dope, but I'm not expecting it to stray at all from the fairy predictable Marvel formula.

Even in the comics, Earth is acknowledged as being this weird magnet for crazy ass conflict and power. So much so that a bunch of the governing cosmic leaders argue to make the planet off-limits, and similarly, to not allow its chaotic nature to spill out and fuck up the rest of the galaxy. But Starlord's dad proposes this so he can go and fuck up the planet with no one else able to intervene.

Did anyone say that though? Marvel talked a lot about how Winter Soldier was inspired by the classic political spy thriller, but is still very much a comic book movie. At best you can call it a subgenre.

At least you can talk. Who are you?

It certainly popped up in a lot of the threads around here. I think it has some weight to it, but it's not a great description of the film.
