Borderlands 2 |OT| Opening Pandora's Box (of Guns!)

My advice to people starting out in regards to these keys is to use them before level 50. At level 50 the stuff you get out of the box is the same or worse than what drops off bosses at level 50. You can farm the Warrior at level 50 easily and get tons of purple loot. Getting purple out of the box at level 30, 35, 40 etc can net you something good that will last you a bunch of levels.

Alright, after the first playthrough, where I tipped her for her bad touch then her good touch...she refuses to give her bad touch again. i've gotten tons of good touches...for a profit. Hmmmm

I'm just reaching level 35 now and I'm on my first playthrough still. About to do a couple of side-quests and then I guess the final mission.

I'm just wondering though it seems there's an undiscovered mission in The Fridge but there's no map marker indicating there is one. I would have done it ages ago and it's bothering me just sitting there in my mission log.

Teleport to The Fridge and immediately go through the door to Fink's Slaughterhouse. I bet that is the one you are missing.

Not sure, I don't remember doing a quest like that in The Fridge. I also don't kill many Goliaths (if that initiates the quest) because I just love watching them fight each other.

I've done all the bandit slaughter quests if that's what you're referring to.

Awesome, playing on the 360 version here and the game is freezing up for 2-3 seconds even when the game isn't autosaving now. This is unplayable.

Edit: I wish there was a way to turn off autosave...game just completely froze when autosaving

Okay thanks. I still have 2 left but I might space them out every 10 levels since I'm only at level 21.

Quick question: Is it possible to loot legendaries from the golden key chest?
It sounds like it'll always be two purples.

Speaking of, I just used my first key (level thirty) and got a sniper and an assault rifle, both pretty good but lacking any elemental properties (which I've really been focusing on).

This is my favorite Sniper in the game. I have tried 3 orange ones and I still like this one best.

I love everything VLADOF makes.

This baby is fully automatic with very little recoil.

wow, Tediore reloads get really OP, I am using a level 46 SMG, and it has about 39 rounds in it, I fire off 1 shot and chuck it at a level 48 goliath and do over half its HP in one hit.

Is Blight Phoenix as useless as it feels or is it doing something I don't see?

It causes fire and corrosion damage to everything around you after you make a kill for a few seconds.

Not worth a single point. One of my biggest complaints about the game is similar to the first - too many useless skills in the skill tree. Even much of the later skills.

Could not disagree more with the bolded. For the longest while I was rolling with a mod that gave me five points to Blight Phoenix and four points to Reaper. With maxed out Blight Phoenix and that mod I had 10/5 points, I felt like a human wrecking ball. Even though I switched up to a legendary mod that doesn't have that Blight Phoenix boost, it still feels useful. While Blight Pheonix doesn't outright kill enemies that are near me in TVHM as it did in normal, it all adds up. I'm causing elemental damage no matter what I do, Phaselock, melee, second wind, sheer proximity.

3 points doesn't do a whole lot in ward. And he has really no way to regain life. I would put those suspension points into sweet release since his playstyle is to definitely kill what he phaselocks.

Honestly, in TVHM Health is irrelevant. The difference between full health and barely any left, is like one bullet. It's all about your shields and shield delay.

Hmm, if you make a copy of your profile and save to a USB drive or something (talking 360 version), would it be possible to "reroll" your golden keys? :p

That's the problem. I never let enemies get near me. I see no reason to adopt a playstyle where I risk taking a single tick off my shield, thus immediately losing all bonus damage. This would be a good skill if she were strong like a tank, but she's not. She dies from just a few hits at level 40+.

Pretty much. I'm not sure how it is with the other characters, but once Maya's shield is gone, she's toast if she takes a hit.

Is kinetic reflection good or useless? I had it up to 90% reduction and it still felt pretty useless. Also, is chain reaction any good?

Yes.

Requirements
1. Hard Drive
2. USB or Memory Card
3. At least 1 Golden Key
4. Any Save

Setup
1. Physically disconnect your 360 from the Internet / Live
2. Move your Gamer Profile to a USB or Memory Card
3. Make sure your save is on the Hard Drive and your profile on a USB or Memory Card
4. Sign in, Start a game, warp to Sanctuary, save and quit. This is so that you start next to the chest.

Procedure
1. With the 360 disconnected from the net/live, sign into your profile.
2. Launch Borderlands 2
3. Create game lobby and select your character
4. Launch game
5. Once you spawn into Sanctuary, REMOVE the USB or Memory Card that contains your profile. A message will pop up asking you to replace the card. DON'T! IMPORTANT!
6. With your profile removed, open the chest and take the contents. Your key will be temporarily lost. DON'T PANIC! Once you complete the steps the key will be returned to you.
7. Save and Quit. The items have now been saved to your character.
8. When the game returns to the lobby, hit the guide button and sign out.
9. Reinsert the USB or Memory Card and sign in again.
10. Repeat steps 2-9 infinitely.

Why does this work? Golden Keys are tied to your profile GPD, not your save. Inventory, however, is tied to your save. Since your profile is removed, the key isn't recorded as being lost. Result? Infinite items.

Level 50 Siren, fully invested into the Cataclysm tree, I still run into the thick of things. Yup, Maya goes down pretty quick the shields run out (who doesn't in TVHM) but with all of the elemental damage caused, including added fire damage during second wind, you get back up pretty damn quickly.

Chain reaction is awesome, because it's based on YOU hitting enemies. Kinectic Reflection is shitty, because its success is incumbent upon you getting hit.

Fire doesn't do much of anything to all the robots though. I found anything that added fire completely useless as the game nears completion.

Does the PS3 version work in the same manner?

Beat TVHM a few days ago. Been farming ever since. This is what I currently have equipped:

And an E-Tech weapon I found earlier today:

I have The Bee equipped as well as a class mod for +85% SMG gun damage. I'll be going back to farm for a better Slagga but right now i'm satisfied with bosses going down very quickly.

Easily my GOTY.

congrats on the Slagga! took me 2 days to get that. Funny since I never use it, but I'm a collector. Oh and that E-tech is nuts. Too bad I don't have any more room to store such weapons.

speaking of slag...

so I'm farming Terra with 2 shotguns. on one hand:

Slag Conference Call
5707x7
63.5% accuracy
12% chance to slag
$200k+

on the other hand

Plain Conference Call
5463x7
61.7% accuracy
$185k

On paper...just looking at the numbers...I expect the Slag conference call to do more damage even without slagging the enemy. Higher accuracy and damage. If it slags, it's icing on the cake.

In practice...one clip unloaded onto Terra did about 1/15th the damage the plain Conference Call did. Anyone have an idea why that would be? Are bosses/terra resistant to slag such that the damage is nerfed by 80%+ (it doesn't say "resist!" on the screen, but the numbers don't lie)? Even my corrosive Conference Call (with much lower stats) was doing about 6x the damage.

I haven't tested the slag cc vs normal grunts, so maybe it shines there...but I just thought I'd ask if I was missing some key piece of information.

also, just 5 Terra runs today, and:

dat relic.

edit: and 2 runs later:

when it rains, it pours.

Terra drops shit guns for me

Just got my first Bee!!!! :D
congrats. welcome to boss turbo-farming.

Terra drops shit guns for me

he's never dropped anything but class mods for me until just now.

1 run after that last post:

Because one wasn't enough, here's two.

Maybe I should drive down to the Seminole Casino over here and see if my luck continues. I've done many runs on Terra and got nothing but some relics here or there. Kinda baffled. If anyone wants the Surgical, I'm happy to trade it for a shield or grenade mod I don't have or something.

Should I be trying to get a Bee and getting the
Terra (if there is one)
achievement before the 16th?

I'm on Chapter 14, I think, but I am slooow and do all of the side-quests.

From what I've read, it's like that for everyone, which makes the Harmony Tree useless. Minds Eye, Wreck, and Res are the only good skills from that tree. Scorn sounds good, but you're wasting too many points to get it and Ruin or a Slagged SMG basically does the same thing.

Kinetic Reflection is great because of damage reduction, not because of bullet deflection. You can take an unreal amount of bullet damage if you can string some kills together.

Blight Phoenix is nice, but the damage is mediocre and the range is even worse. It needs to be a constant area effect or have a much, much wider range. There is no point to having a Siren with flimsy shields just to take advantage of Backdraft/Fleet/Phoenix when you can pile up ridiculous damage against a mob in under 2 seconds with Chain Reaction/Wreck/Reaper.

What's happening to the Bee on the 16th?
Well, the 16th is the date for the first patch (assumed, since it's mechromancer day) and they were talking about tweaking it a little.

Whether or not that will happen on this patch or not (or enough to not keep it awesome), I don't know, but I would be cautious and get the achievement out of the way just in case. :)
