Borderlands 4 |OT| It's about time. Literally.

Ok so first impressions after 30 min on PC. So far it looks and runs much better than i thought it would. Running maxed out settings on 5070ti with DLSS4 quality and 2x framegen and im above 100 fps even outside, indoors are even better. Movement and shooting feels really smooth and good, UI and menus are great aswell.

Oh and so far i had 0 stutters. Lets see how it goes later, but expected a lot worse
What resolution? 4K?

anybody else noticed that foliage pops....out? I'm on badass and the foliage (Grass, etc) disappears around me as I move

like the opposite of pop in

EDIT: downgrading form badass to very high resolves this issue

Same here. The game runs well with no stutters

Did you set the resolution on YouTube? Lately it's been defaulting to retarded resolutions. Like 720p or lower unless I manually change it. That video was set to 360p. Disgusting.
Yep, still waiting on DF video and Daniel for minimum spec PC, this may be a game to wait till next gen if you dont own a great PC.

runs alright with fsr balanced and frame generation on a 7700 xt getting about ~100fps. high settings 1440p.

i9 9900kf 5Ghz
7700xt 12GB
64GBs of ddr4 2666 ram
sandisk extreme external ssd usb3.0
amd driver 25.9.1

Sweet! I'm super hyped for this honestly. I think it will turn out pretty good once it is all polished up. Just glad we get another Borderlands that isn't a halfassed thing. They whole assed this one I think.

One thing I remember is it took a while to get BL3 running decent on consoles, so this is not new for them to put something unoptimized out and fix it over time.

So does it run like crap? I'll give it a try tonight and hope my 5090 can just beast it.
5080, 1440p, badass, DLSS quality, x2 FG

holds 110-140 fps

DLSS only (FG off) = 70-80 fps

FG only (native res, no DLSS) = 80-100 fps

LOL

"Just get a PC" ™

They said

?????
game runs fine when you use the tech designed to make the game run fine

GAF loves to turn off every advanced GPU feature then whine when 4k native no DLSS runs at 50 fps

I have similar GPU. Other UE5 games runs at around 200 fps with similar settings (1440p + DLSSQ + FG) , so borderlands 4 seems to be twice as demanding. Even PT games runs a little bit better than 100fps (usally 120-150fps) at this resolution with both DLSS features turned on.

It seems lumen in borderlands 4 is more expensive than PT.

The RTX5080 should achieve a similar frame rate at 4K when both DLSS (SR + FG) featuers are used, so your results at 1440p arnt impressive at all for a UE5 game.

4K DLSSQ + FGx2 in mafia the old country.

erformance on my 4080 was horrible
Like this perf?

We played on 1440p, medium, 4080 + i7-11700KF (CPU is below recommended specs) + 32GB RAM. Yes frame gen is a tricky one, but with it ON it stayed well above 60 and unlike some games, it actually felt smooth and responsive here

Game ran like ass, but was unpatched.
5800x, 5080 had to put everything on low and perf DLSS plus fake frames for 60fps on ultrawide. Thats some bs.

Gonna update my drivers, download the patch and see if that makes a difference tomorrow.

Playing on Series X and after about 4-5 hours of play I'm getting SUPER bad freezes. Like 6-10 second lockups every minute or so. Game is fine so far but what the fuck.

That sucks, hope you get it sorted out soon. That's the thing with getting games day one I guess, you are more or less a guinea pig.

Can you tell me if the HDR is proper? Someone on XboxEra told me HDR is washed out as hell for him, raised black levels and what not. Which would be quite sad cause I believe Borderlands 3 had pretty decent HDR and TTW was good with that too.

Are people really ok with Framegen here? Had to use Framegen in Monsterhunter and it was terrible.
With a 50-60 base fps, 2x framegen is good. No visual artifacts, no noticable input lag. Ideal would be 100+ fps without framegen, but sadly 90% of these new UE5 titles are incredibly demanding on the GPU side.

I'm not the best with regards on that, but I haven't noticed it's washed out. However I play on a QN90c which is way brighter than a regular OLED. The game caps out at 1000nits for the settings but mine can go up to 1600-1700. There are some areas in the game that have dust/fog which can make it look washed out but it's not anything like the Resident Evil games.

What difficulty should I play on if I'm only a solo player? I've only beat the first two games in the series. Are there any difficulty locked achievements?

Installing on Steam now. I don't think I will regert.
I've seen so many reviews today I think I'm gonna like it.

Edit-compiling shaders. That's a somewhat good sign.

I am not sure if I'm getting it this weekend, but those playing can you tell me how drastically they have turned down the comedy stuff? I never hated all the talking while you move around, hell 2 had Jack talking a lot but it never annoyed me. If you got good writing, good voice acting and cool characters I don't mind it. I did mind it in 3 because all that sucked.

Borderlands without the funny is not Borderlands for me. But it's probably not too drastic?

It's much more in line with 2 than 3.

The humor hasn't completely disappeared.

Claptrap plays a much bigger role than in 3, and os up to his zany old tricks

Game is great. Been having a blast. The more serious tone IMO really reminds me of Borderlands 1 a lot. There is still funny stuff but has some good pacing to it.

I used this video as guideline for what Visual settings to use.

I get 60 FPS without Frame Gen and 120-130 FPS with Frame Gen. For those interested cutscenes seem to be 30 FPS locked(?). Counter seemed to be 29 or 30 for any cutscenes I've seen. Using DLSS.

I use a 4070 RTX and i5-13600k.

No stutters or crashes with my 2 hours of playtime.

The slide and glide speed IMO are a game changer with how you can tactically move yourself or reposition. It's very nice. Good upgrade from Pre-Sequels 0Z kits IMO.
