That was you shitting out that steamy mass of cheap low quality Legendary weapons? :lol

No, that was my evil twin. :D

They aren't that special, I keep the rarer ones (aka the cheaper ones so the game doesn't get out of hand). Those other ones are like normal, just with an added twist to them.

Like Chimera, each bullet is a different element. But the gun shoots decent damage, nothing special.

This is for everyone to know, since I know some people like to share even legit guns with their friends.

Drop the gun, and before the save symbol shows up press ALT+F4. It will not save. I suggest doing it right after you drop it, that way you aren't taking any risks. Make sure you aren't hosting too.

Just wondering does can you use online characters in single player and can you play offline or does it need a connection all the time?

Rarity of 171.
This doesn't seem right unless it has a Vladof revolution magazine (which it shouldn't because it's a combat rifle from Hyperion).

Did someone do a breakdown of the parts it uses?

The gun itself is amazing though. (Full auto while zoomed? :lol )

Nah sorry i'm on PC.

I might have one for ya if you'll be around in a couple hours. I never use snipers, not sure if it will meet your needs but it's sure as hell a fine x4 Volcano.

Just finished on level 36 with Hunter, only thing that was frustrating was playing with randoms in coop but played most of it like this and single player is way too easy, ill finish up the rest of the side missions since I don't have many left. Also I wish there were more mp options like choosing how many players you want to play with.

Well, I knew Gearbox wouldn't let the PC, their lead platform down. The patch is awesome!

WAIT WHAT, SON OF A BITCH :lol

Where did ennui even post that? I just checked around the forums but must have missed that update.

Gearbox Talks DLC, Borderlands Level Cap

We talked with Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford about Borderlands and more in an interview set to appear in the January issue of Game Informer Magazine. Yesterday, we told you about what’s going on with Gearbox’s Aliens: Colonial Marines games, which the company is developing for Sega. Today, we give you the scoop on Borderlands’ upcoming DLC, straight from the man himself, where he even hints about next-generation hardware.

The guns are obviously the star of the game. But your playable characters are also cool. Do you foresee character customization in the future that would allow players to have unique avatars in the world?

Maybe. We know people want that. You know, at the beginning of our development we put some work into unique armor, custom armor, and unique pieces of armor, but as a first-person game, a lot of that value is lost. We move that value into different things like shields, and we added the concept of grenade modifications, class modifications, and artifacts. These are ways we can customize the character that also affect the gameplay. They just don’t affect the cosmetic. And even though the cosmetic affect of looking at the picture of your character doesn’t have any meaning to the gameplay, it does have meaning to our notions, and I know some people are interested.

I think that’s a good lesson for us. There are also tradeoffs in system resources. Every bit of memory we spend on a different picture for a character, whether that’s a different piece of armor, a different head, or face choices means memory and performance can’t be spent on another aspect of the game. So some other part of the game would have to be weakened then. But maybe that tradeoff is worth it given some of the customer feedback about it, and how they feel about the characters and the desire to customize them. We’re going to have to look at that for future games.

Right now, the best I can say is, yeah, that would be cool and that’s interesting. Um… If a future Borderlands game comes…Um…within the same generation, well, we’re working on these platforms and everybody knows what they can do. If we’re talking about a successor generation, well then all bets are off and you can just start adding features and not have to deal with the trade-offs because you have more memory and more performance or whatever those new systems offer.

Old Haven is an awesome place for combat, yet you only spend a few missions there. Your time in this zone is done before you know it. Any chance DLC will bring us back there, or to other previously played zones?

Yes. With DLC, we focus most of our energy on new content. However, there are some things people love, and would like to see done in different ways. So that obviously influences us. Specifically about Old Haven, I don’t think you’ve seen the last of that.

Any plans for a locker, so players could store their weapons?

We know that some people are interested in that, and we’re working on that.

Any chance of the level cap going up with future DLC?

We’re working on it. I know that’s something that people really want. You asked me earlier how difficult it was to balance everything, and as a customer I don’t care – I don’t want to hear how difficult things are – I just want what I want. I spend a lot of time making excuses, but we want that too, and we’re investing in that and I would not be surprised if we are able to offer that in the future, but at this point I can’t make any promises.

Let’s talk about The Island of Dr. Ned. Is it like Fallout 3’s Operation Anchorage where it’s sectioned from the rest of the world, or is it more of a worldwide experience where new enemies are interjected into the previous zones?

When you download The Island of Dr. Ned, you’ll unlock a fast travel pass, even if you haven’t unlocked the fast travel network. From any registration station in the game you can immediately transport yourself to the zombie island. From there, a new adventure unfolds. It’s a separate adventure, and a new adventure that has a beginning, middle, and end. In some cases, I think the story is more cohesive and stronger than the main story in Borderlands. The commentary that is there is very subtle. It’s basically a treasure hunt that has a bad guy at the end that protects the treasure. It’s a very simple premise. Now, we’re never very heavy fisted with storytelling in Borderlands. We focus on the action, and the gameplay and the pace. We’re not going to be adding any dialogue trees or cutscenes. Of course, there will be a little something to set it up. You’ll have instant access to it, and really fast you’ll be killing zombies, franken and wolf monsters, and all sorts of cool stuff.

We went nuts with the DLC. The zombie thing kicks ass. It’s a lot of fun, dude. There’s this big Frankenstein looking guy with chains on him, and a chest on his back. So, when you take him down, you can loot the chest. He carries the chest around with him. It’s freaking great. There’s were-skags and stuff and it’s just fun. The setting is really cool. It doesn’t even look like Borderlands anymore. I mean, it looks like Borderlands because of the art style, but it feels like this place I’ve never seen before. It’s gloomy, there’s trees and stuff, and it feels like I’m in a swamp.

DLC sounds cool, just wish we knew what lvl it was geared towards.

I finally bought a gun from a vending machine:

I know. I saw one awesome gun in stock, but was like $10k short. I ran out for a few minutes to get a bunch of guns to turn in, and it was gone when I got back.

Where does it even imply that it won't scale? Not trying to call you out, I just don't see it anywhere.

Rather - how are you guys getting the impression that it won't follow the same playthrough level rules as every other area? That is- playthrough one, somewhere under 35, playthrough 2, somewhere 35-50, post-playthrough 2, all 50+?

If you can actually just make a game and then fast travel to these areas, how could it even NOT be the case? It's not like fast traveling would pull you out of playthrough 2 mode, right?

I've actually been pretty lucky when it comes to vending machines. I bought my first Hellfire from one when I was level 15 or so. I frantically grinded up to level 25 in order to use it.

I'd say I've found half of the 30 or so oranges that I've found in vending machines. All three pearlescent guns that I've found have been from vending machines as well.

I expect this is exactly how it will be.

I get killed often and can't continue on the quests I'm trying to do because I get killed multiple times. Enemies can kill me within 6 seconds, and I can't even kill the alpha skag in the arena.

I thought the whole pearlescent business was squashed awhile back? I haven't found any, but I also haven't been looking since I heard it was just a glitch and that they aren't really any better than orange weapons.

I have one equipped right now, so it's not a myth. It's a white repeater pistol with some red text about tony or something. Has a clip size of something like 90 with a high fire rate. The best one I've found has electric damage, the other two were straight up non elemental guns.

All three appear above all other weapons in my bags (these > dark orange > light orange > etc etc down to white)

They aren't really better; they're rarer. Plenty of purples I have are better than some oranges I have. There was a pic posted of the way the loot rarity index works. The range that pearlescents fall under is above orange but below the next new color they gave; since they didn't assign a color to that particular range it defaults to white. So it's kind of a glitch but also legitimate. There are only a few types of guns that can even qualify to be rare enough to be one (of these, the Thanatos is the most common).

The only one I've seen I did find out and about. It's a Vile Thanatos, repeater with not so high damage but a sick fire rate and ludicrously large clip (edit: see he's got one too :p). Haven't seen any in vending machines.

Okay, so I've just started playing Borderlands again after a couple of weeks break. Now that people have been able to mod the hell out of this game now, I have a question. The main one is if it's possible to edit your save files so that you can change classes. I took a soldier up to level 20, and I don't like how he plays, I'd rather a hunter. I took a peek inside the .sav files, and they seem to have stuff that seems editable in relation to the character classes.

I'm a lazy asshole and don't want to level another character, so I'm counting on this being doable!

EDIT: Nevermind, turns out this seems really easy to do with these Save Editors. Which save editor is the best (if there's more than one)? I'm currently using Gibbed's editor.

Try finishing all of the side quests you have to level up, then go back and it should be slightly easier. There might be a few extra quests at the bounty board if that robot hasn't already told you.

I'll try, I've only tried one (arena) and can't get past the first round.

Oh i'm sorry, you can go back to playing WoW if you want. Quite frankly they don't need to raise the level caps for at least one more DLC. I would say if they bring out an "official" expansion that is additional areas/quests in old areas... then I say raise the cap.

One thing Randy has been mum on is how they can change the story with DLC and expansions. I would expect in the coming months that we'll see new bosses in old areas that have taken over due to you killing the previous owner of that general area. Skies the limit and quite frankly, level cap increase isn't needed yet.

Sorry, I mean levels + item rewards. I'm not saying they've implied it, but I'm really not going to be happy if it's a land full of quests that give you items you won't use.

Fuck, this game is addictive. Whenever I put it in, I expect to go with it for a brief amount of time, but I end up playing it for a long ass time. I'm at level 32 right now, I just found this fuckin awesome repeater that has a 16 rate of fire with 104 damage, plus as a hunter I have a lot of bonuses to handguns. At least for my level, that's pretty great. It pretty much owns anything that stands in my way. This is definitely in my top 5 games of the year. <3
