Oh I think they'll mess that up too. But Ken has been really awful in every department. WB looks like 2000's Fox right now, only without an Avatar.

There new CEO doesn't know what the hell he is doing he is trying to be Disney but again he is taking a wrong turn and it clearly shows.

Suicide Squad super-decline confirmed:

Sheesh, ouch. I'm still really surprised I've had friends reviewing (well, complaining) about it on FB, which is surprising, as not many usually bother. A friend's father went to town on it. I'd been waiting to see what the reaction was before seeing the film myself, and, yeah, pretty unimpressed.

Honestly, it's like Ghostbusters to me. Solid cast that I would like to see later in a better sequel.

Absolutely, as Viola Davis as Amanda Waller is amazing casting. I've really liked what I've seen of Margot Robbie's Harley, too.

It's a good time for a hostile takeover. We just gotta pool our money together. Fox's offer of 75 billion wasn't good enough, so I'm thinking 100 billion.

WB should just sell DC to Disney for $10 billion.

I believe Anti-trust laws come into play on this one. As in a major corporation cannot have a monopoly on a specific field of the market (comics). I'd be really fucking bummed out to see Marvel and DC under one roof. It wouldn't be right.

I'd rather have WB try to sort it out and get it right eventually than for Disney to get a hold of it.

I wouldn't be opposed to Disney owning DC IF they keep Marvel and DC completely and absolutely separated. Batman fighting Squirrel Girl is all kinds of wrong.

Maybe if Disney owned DC, we could have a hard-edged crime noir Netflix series starring Gotham City and its inhabitants. No prequel stuff, no metahumans, just Batman Detective Comics on screen.

So... is there any reason to keep Snyder?

There wasn't any reason to keep Snyder after he made 3 bombs in a row from 2009-2011. But it's nice to be a white dude and have rich friends.

He's out after Justice League for sure. I wonder who the hell is ghost directing that at the moment.

Though I do think his vision would be a great fit for movies like Suicide Squad. If only WB just let this movie plays out without interference.

They should go the Deadpool route and make cheaper films and fleece the suckers for all they're worth.

Problem is going deadpool route is not the answer since that project was something that took so long for ryan reynolds and team to get it off to even make it. And now it is one of the biggest success ever from fox, also you can thank the leaked test footage that went viral because of it and you can thank the asshole who stopped it before who now is working at sony pictures.

That guy Tom Rothman is now the boss over there he hates superhero movies but came outside all of a sudden because of spiderman homecoming saying it is awesome.

This douchebag had a huge history trying everything as a CEO to sabotage all the hero movies and he succeeded with X-Men,X2 and even X3...Wolverine Origins etc.

So no WB need a CEO who understand movies all movies but also hero movies in a sense that makes people excited to see them. At this moment the whole board of directors at WB is a fucking mess it needs to be flushed out with a clean slate.

Snyder's probably not out entirely, Johns seems to like him and they have a project planned together. Probably will stay as a producer and help with the universe.

David Yates will be brought in. DCEU starts pumping out major hits.

Kind of impossible, unless they wasted 500 millions in marketing.

well no, that's not how it works

Studios get a rule-of-thumb 50% take from box office receipts, so if their production budget was $175 million (not allowing for the possibility that WB is fudging these numbers), marketing would have to be around the same to justify a $700 million break-even point ($175 + $175 = $350 x 2 = $700).

I can honestly see marketing being that damn expensive, they went all out promoting this thing. What's more is, we haven't factored in reshoot expenses as well, they can't have been cheap.

I was under the impression that the 175 million figure included the reshoot expenses.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Has anyone seen Indignation yet? I'm thinking of seeing it on Tuesday given the terrible response of Suicide Squad.

Ok, so box office experts, let's say SS has a $125 million OW with a 2.0 multiplier for a domestic take of $250 million, which is fair at this point. What can we expect worldwide, accounting for a lack of release in China?

Just do a crossover of Golden Boy, Downton Abbey, and the Ascendant series for the ultimate Theo James goulash!

Of course, WB could just buy out Lionsgate's share of the Veronica Rothverse and combine it with Suicide Squad and the Terminator Genisys timeline for the Jai Courtneyverse.

And suddenly Kevin Tsujihara doesn't seem all that bad.

Answer my question above!

Well I 'aint no expert but we can make some guesses based on other DC movies.

Green Lantern (2011)
OW: $53M
DOM: $116M = 53% of WW
Multiplier: 2.18
Foreign: $103M = 47% of WW
WW: $219M

Man of Steel (2013)
OW: $116M
DOM: $291M = 44% of WW
Multiplier: 2.50
Foreign: $377M = 56% of WW
WW: 668M

Batman v Superman (2016)
OW: $166M
DOM: $330M = 38% of WW
Multiplier: 1.98
Foreign = $542M = 62.1% of WW
WW: $872M

At this point, $130M looks like it's close to the floor for the OW of Suicide Squad. I expect it to have better legs overall than BvS so let's go with roughly Green Lantern's 2.2 multiplier. Current WoM from overseas appears to be fairly strong, so let's give it Man of Steel's foreign percentage at about 55% That sounds about right to me without any help from China.

That would give us

OW: $130M
DOM: $286M
Foreign: $350M
WW: $636M

With a 60% total foreign, it'd be

Foreign: $429M
WW: $715M

But let's say its multiplier is a little better than Green Lantern's (still possible imo). If it gets a 2.5 multiplier and has a foreign gross comprising 55% of its total, we'd get

DOM: $325M
Foreign: $397M
WW: $722M

If I had to make a guess, I think it tops out at right about $700M WW.

The DCEU is the biggest creative disaster from a Time Warner property since the last year of WCW as a going concern, minus the hilariously awful Sting/Vampiro feud and David Arquette being there at all.

Chuck David Arquette into Justice League, maybe I'll watch it then.
