Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
I don't think Fantastic Beasts is going to perform as well as they think.

Domestic could be problematic, but overseas should play well no doubt. Especially in the UK, The BFG proved as much.

I'll go ahead and cross post here, too

If this ends up accurate, movie execs really need to start taking a hard look at how they are making summer movies. Bad word of mouth has absolutely destroyed film after film this summer and sabotaged the legs of even the movies that manged to have decent openings. Let your creators make good movies and people will come on word of mouth. Marketing and hype for known brands isn't working anymore, people are paying attention to reviews and word of mouth, not just going hey I know this property lets see the movie.

Disney is making good movies first and they are making money hand over fist.

Why are people down on Fantasic Beast? It's got the Potterverse connection plus JK Rowling's herself. And David Yates is historically critically acclaimed with Potter stuff. And I personally think it looks solid.

And I personally think we might see a change with DC Films. Creating it and making Johns the president of DC entertainment would be all for nothing. Except if they plan on making him the fall guy.

Someone needed to teach the studio not to release the week before The Dark Knight.

That was a thing? Well okay then. Withdrawn.

But still, at a quick glance on the BO, Del Toro's movies seem to underperform to the level of quality they deliver. Maybe I'm biased towards that 'Burton style' though, since Burton's movies are hit & miss too.

I just saw it and thought it was crap. I think Im done with this Trek.

I very strongly disagree (the writing was superb), but I can understand a sense of fatigue about the movies.

Went to see Star Trek again with a group of friends who hadn't seen it yet. They all loved it. It was a mid size theater but was surprisingly full.

Monday morning WB will start holding meetings to figure out how to build a Tarzan Cinematic Universe to replace the DCEU.

Hopefully Del Toro gets to direct one. I remember him talking about doing a grounded take of Tarzan years ago.

Wait...I just realized most if not all Del Toro dream projects that were canned is owned by WB --- Mouth Of Madness, Justice League Dark and gritty Tarzan.

I thought it has to make 800 mil? Doesn't seem like a easy feat especially with the Mexican chain not showing it and the possible China ban?

$800 million is too high for breakeven. Easy rule of thumb is to double the production budget. $175 million budget = $350 million. Assuming vague marketing numbers... maybe $500 million?

Jesus. That is not good. I figured the drop wouldn't happen until next week.

Marvel to cast Alex Skaarsgard as Ka-Zar and rob WB of that.

Alex in a loin cloth fighting dinosaurs and shit? Marvel would break a billion at the box office.

The Tarzan he was working on is The Legend of Tarzan WB released. He was just one of a slew of directors who were attached to it during its long development life.

Its not just fatigue with me. Its the cinematic equivalent of cotton candy. I never finish one of these films and feel Im taking anything away with me. Trek needs to find its soul again and they wont do that in the hands of Paramount movie execs.

Suicide Squad super-decline confirmed:
@GiteshPandya SAT drop for #SuicideSquad huge, even bigger than might be expected. May tumble by over 40% & end below $40M. Maybe $130M-ish wknd now.

You know what... GOOD. Warner needs to suffer.
I thought it was the worst movie I've seen so far this year, and the only one I didn't on some level enjoy (Gods of Egypt was terrible on any objective level, but it was at least enjoyably dumb and stilted), hence, I am Homer in that gif.

Seems like WB has a floor of hardcore fans who will see these movies as fast as they can, regardless of reviews, but after that it's off a cliff they go.

They should go the Deadpool route and make cheaper films and fleece the suckers for all they're worth.

That drop is horrendous. 140-150 was just a dream.

WB PR dude is going to have his work cut out. Considering their estimates were 125M, I'm assuming they will play up that number.

I didn't think it could have worse legs than BvS. WB must be shitting themselves.

They'll just shout very, very loudly about taking the August BO record. Even the low, low end estimate of $120M is well past GotG's previous record, so there's that. They did a similar thing for BvS's record breaking opener despite everyone knowing that it should have made more (if it was good).

The real tricky PR would be if it completely tanks next weekend. Maybe Ang Lee Hulk can finally shed that weight off its shoulders...

And people still thinking it will become a great success well no..hearing people talking about it and worth to mouth spreading further how bad it really is, i am not surprised.

Break-even point is apparently around $750M-$850M. It's fucked.

Nah, that number is a crock. That might even be the same number WB uses in their accounting but it's still bull. Technically speaking, Deathly Hallows failed to make a profit with over $900M in revenue but we all know that's a bunch of bull.

Y'all really want your pound of flesh from this movie, huh

Honestly, it's like Ghostbusters to me. Solid cast that I would like to see later in a better sequel.

It wasn't great, but I think it'll cross into profitability, unless the legs continue to be as bad as that Saturday drop.
