US only? Of course.
For fucks sake, it would be something i'd love.

No doubt someone will sell their copy but it is gonna cost a fortune, if it is truly limited edition one.

Wonder if it will get non-limited version...

It seems like it's a book created by fans? I might grab a copy since there's a store nearby and if I remember.

There's one I can go to but it's a truly small store and I doubt they'll have more than a couple copies. Bleh :/.

Listen to the audiobooks and you would know how it is pronounced. Michael Kramer is amazing. He does all of Sanderson's Cosmere stuff.

Yeah, he's really, really great. Brings a new life to the characters. His Wayne is especially great.

Aiii

So not worth it
Both Michael Kramer and Kate Reading (who does the female voices in the Stormlight Archive) are excellent readers.

So I've read the three Wax and Wayne books (loved them) and now I'm reading Warbreaker (it was the only other Sanderson book that was at half price books). So far it's really good, as usual magic is fascinating and original, love the characters and the plot. I hope it sustains for the whole book cause so far I'm totally into it.

Sidenote: I keep reading BLUSHweaver's name as BUSHweaver. Somehow it still works.

I just finished part 2 of BoM and I don't recall Steris doing anything amazing.
Are you referring to the ipecac scene (or just her ability to compliment Wax so well)?. Although, gotta admit the Ascendent Veil (I can't remember the name for sure) part was cool. Steris is definitely becoming one of my favorite characters because of her rapport with Wax though

Man, so happy to have found this thread! Subbed.

I'm a huge Sanderson fan and think that he is, quite frankly, the best currently in the business. In fact, I normally don't do book reviews but felt like I needed to for WoK:

https://youtu.be/SNYOMAqHtHU

(Don't mind the awful jokes in the intro)

Just finished Bands of Mourning (yay!) and Calamity (yay?) earlier this month. I like the Reckoner books, but I think that they'll end up better as films (though I'm not the biggest fan of the director that's lined up)

As a side note, living in Utah has its advantages, as I've been able to attend a few of his classes. Also, if you've posted in this thread and haven't checked out his Writing Excuses podcast, shame on you

Will finish Mistborn 2 today (100 pages to go). It was really good so far but slightly worse than #1. Sanderson is best.

Mistborn 2 is at it's best when things actually start happening. The early bits have so much stalling and preparing for things to come it takes a while to ramp up but when it does, it is great.

Mistborn 2's issue is that Sanderson felt he needed to remind people about things. We get reintroduced to Allomancy (a poor fight, heck, Sanderson himself doesn't like the scene per annotations), we get reintroductions to characters.

I don't like reminders or reintroductions, i usually remember things, or check the previous work or from internet if necessary. (I do like having a list of characters or something like that though, negates the need for checking elsewhere.)

He has gotten better about this though, compare the Stormlight Archive to Mistborn.

I can't imagine how long Words Of Radiance would have been with a re-introduction stage.

Though, I think that is more of a YA thing and Mistborn is not quite but closer to YA.

Split into two parts probably. Each with their own reintroductions.

Now that i think of this, i don't recall WoR having reintroductions really... Indeed, it is really... smooth. Sanderson has improved a lot certainly.

I never liked Mistborn 2 or 3 as much as the original. I mean, they were okay, but the original may well be one of my favorite books of all time.

Agree that 1 was my favorite of the 3, but I still loved 2/3. Haven't read the rest but they seem to get good reviews. I own them, so I'll get to them eventually.

So Bands of Mourning, Secret History:
The Bands of Mourning are from Kelsier and not the Lord Ruler. That Kelsier is still around is all kinds of amazing

Don't need Secret History to figure this out, there's enough hints in Bands of Mourning. Lord Rules was excellent red herring but there was too much off in the myths and legends for him to be around...Kelsier's crazy for sure. Who else would punch a god after they die?

Yeah, stuff always seemed off to me but I never actually made the connection to
Kelsier
.

Oh and:
The people he saved are from the same land he walked to while in spirit form, I guess?

Yeah, i didn't make the connection either (until the very end) but i figured something was amiss.

Eh, there was people in the south pole of Scadrial. Looks like Kelsier had Spook resurrected him in a manner of speaking, and then went to the south and helped people there, hence the stories of savior. He didn't rescue people from Cognitive Realm.

No no, not from
the cognitive realm, I meant that he saw this lush kind of vegetation while he was in the cognitive realm and I thought he went back there when he was "resurrected"

...

I need to re-read Secret History.

First some scifi, kind of had enough of fantasy for a while as i re-read the whole Wheel of Time back to back...

400/732 pages into Mistborn #3 as of today. I think I'll finish it soon as it's really good although I find
Vin's and Elend's sections
the least exciting.
I'm really over sieging cities and politicking.
. I also have to say that I find both characters rather boring compared to how Sanderson wrote them in Mistborn #1.

Great book so far though and I can't wait to have all my questions answered.

Yeah, I agree. I feel like they were both at their best in the first book. I still found them strong and enjoyable to read in the other two books, but still, the first book was
really focused on them
. Hope you enjoy the ending!

Going to finally be starting Mistborn 3 soon.

I've been in a reading rut lately and I think that will kick me out of it.

My problems with them:

Vin got overpowered a little too fast. I feel like she was way more intriguing when she had weaknesses. I also find Elend's idealism a little overdone. It makes him a bit boring and one-dimensional. In all fairness, Sanderson wrote the firm but fair leader noticeably better in Way of Kings when he wrote Dalinar.

Yep, I had exactly the same reaction—and it felt super strange too. Sanderson seemed to go to great lengths in the Book 1 to make sure that Vin felt vulnerable. By #3, she's essentially a one-woman army.

I remember talking to my father about this (who read the books around the same time I did), and his reaction was "Well, characters are always better when they're inexperienced." I'm not sure I buy that, although it does apply in this case.

My new job has made it harder to get around to reading on my breaks (not as many quite places to run to) so I'm only a quarter done with Warbreaker. Still loving it. Siri and Vivenna are great, the change for Vivenna
where she gets all those breaths from the Idrian spy is a nice turn, even though it's kind of spoiled by the cover.
The two mercenaries with her are perfect and hilarious, Sanderson know's how to put characters together.

All is not what it seems with this God King
after all the nights of him not banging Siri, and generally not being "evil", it seems he's a puppet in all this.

I continue to read Blushweaver as Bushweaver, I've given up on trying.

Lightsong continues to be one of the most interesting characters to me, probably because he servers a specific purpose(which I'm sure we'll see at the end), and he's got a mystery around him that I'm curious to know about (hope that comes out at some point, his past).

I have just finished The Hero of Ages which was awesome. Is there a recommended reading order for the rest of the cosmere books? I have only read the first 3 mistborn in total.

As long as you follow the individual series' order you should be fine. Although I'd recommend reading Warbreaker before the second Stormlight Archive, Words of Radiance for some really cool surprises.

You can go right into the next Mistborn series. After you're done with those, check out Mistborn: Secret History.

If you decide to go with The Stormlight Archive, try to read Warbreaker first (or at least before the 2nd SA book).

For whatever it's worth, I very much don't agree with going right into the next Mistborn series. It's better to take some time away from the universe before coming back, so that all of the winks and nudges towards characters and events in the old trilogy will feel a bit nostalgic.

Depends on the person! I ended up forgetting a lot of things since I took too long to read the next books. lol

Honestly, as long as you read the seperate series in order and save A Secret History until after Bands of Mourning, there is no wrong way or even best way to go about reading the Cosmere books. At least not yet.

Finished the Mistborn trilogy... wooooow. The third book was just
nonstop revelations. Holy shit. Vin getting hemalurgy powers from her dead sister. Reen's voice being Ruin all along. The first generation Kandra being Rashek's companions. Zane being controlled by Ruin. All of it was just like holy fuck wow. I love that he straight up spelled it out without any hinting or conspiracies.

Finished Mistborn 3 yesterday too and like it at lot as well. I didn't think it was much better than #2 though. I guess it was higher paced but I felt the last revelation in Mistborn #2 (
"I write these words in steel, for anything not set in metal cannot be trusted"
....fucking godlike) was better than those in #3. The Last Empire remainst the best book.

Overall, this was a tremendous trilogy and I can't recommend it enough. I will pause with Sanderson for a while (after reading both SA and all three Mistborn books back to back) but will come back for the second era Mistborn books soon.
