Did they ever say why Steve Gomez returned from El Paso? He earned the big promotion and seemed excited to go down there and help the DEA, then he sort of just showed up back in Albuquerque. Is it possible he asked to be transferred back in order to help Gus out? Did he come back when Hank was shot by the cousins? Im a little confused on why he is back.

He didn't fit in, or that's the impression I got.

He got a bigger promotion, to GS14. "Next stop, Washington, D.C."

I think they were always supposed to split time between the two spots anyway.

Well, theyre not gonna say they are gay in front of the cartel dudes >.<
Additionally, the guy who took a piss in the pool, the uncle, said that they, Gus and his friend, wouldn't mind him doing that because they probably liked it. Obviously it's a joke, but he also seemed serious.

The guy also said that Gus was his compañero, which means companion, and that he couldn't live without him. Although the word is not used often to signify a romantic relationship, it could have that meaning.

To me, it's 50/50 that he could be gay.

My God.... it all makes sense!

Another great episode, even if this season is really slow paced compared to the previous ones, it doesn't mean it's bad. Flashback at the end was great, good to see more about Gus' past.

Holy shit that was insane.

-Walt was cold to that other cancer patient. Surprised that nobody talked about that part.

-Though it makes sense, this was Gus' episode. That ending flashback was simply great. Gus is now that much more interesting.. damn.

-I love that in the preview
Jesse said "If you kill Mr. White, you have to kill me" something along those lines

-That scene in the parking lot was too intense.

-I do not think Gus is gay. The episode definitely did not indicate that.

This show is SO brilliant. I cannot wait to watch more!

I saw the next episode clip on the website, but where can I see the preview? I had to before they showed that again and missed the repeat >.>

Oh man I just spoiled myself a little with the episode things under the airing schedule.
This season is going places. I'm slightly depressed and excited at the same time.

Excellent episode. The car scene and the flashback. My god, this series remains quite stellar.

Don't quite get the Gus is gay talk. Like brothers does not equal lovers. Also Gus has kids if I'm not mistaken. I believe he mentioned that in the episode where he invites Walt for dinner and tells him to provide for his family, even if they do not love him, because that's what a man does.

That doesn't prove anything. Even if he was gay, Gus would see the value of having a family with kids to complete his image as the community-friendly businessman.

There aren't many men with hair this season are there.

IMO baldness (or a shaved head) is used as a visual symbol for the men who have chosen to get themselves involved in the drugs trade, giving into the worse side of their nature - Walt shaving his head in 'Crazy Handful O' Nothing' (S1) was a symbolic act of the moment he took the plunge to face down Tuco and make his first business deal. Jesse shaving his head early in this season showed how he was being eaten up by his demons. Hank I suppose is the exception, but the hunt for Heisenberg has sort of come to dominate his life, so it's not entirely unrelated. Either way, almost every 'innocent' character has a full head of hair. I find it hard to believe they're not doing this on purpose.

As for tonight, the Gus Fring interrogation was the scene of the season for me, topped off by Hank doing a Columbo. The scene where Mike watched Walt and Hank in the car was also great, both funny and tense at the same time. The 'brother' theme, including the red/white meat analogy made by the Don, was also put to fantastically clever use as a storytelling theme.

As usual, here's my review and full analysis. Hope you enjoy it, thanks to everyone who reads!

Hank and Mike are bald and nobody wants them rocking the Costanza. So that's out of your theory.

But you're on to something with Walt and Jesse.

Firstly, I like that my "the eighth hole is murder" prediction from last week came true! Although it seems someone on the AV Club made the connection in this week's comments section. Now, a prediction about episode 11:
it's entitled Crawl Space, and we saw Skyler put all her money in the crawl space under their house...

When you know who is going to die at the very start of a scene, and somehow remain glued to the screen, you can't help but admitting this show is pretty, preeeetty good.

Amazing tension. Great episode.

I don't get it. First it was Tim Cook at Apple and now Gustavo Fring at Los Pollos Hermanos. Why are people so eager to out leaders in our business community that clearly have no interest in being outed?

Besides, there would have to be an incredible amount of self-loathing involved to make Gus wear that mustard yellow shirt week after week.

So that's twice now that Gus has paid for someone's chemistry education and got them killed...

EDIT: Also, the actor who played Krazy-8 is called...Maximino Arciniega

That is what I was thinking, Gus has a really bad track record with cooks. The cartel killed one, Jesse killed another, Gus killed one. The only one that won't die is the one that Gus really wanted dead in the first place, LOL.

if you have a good friend/protege then you must be gay. Walt's coming out episode is next week.

But seriously he may very well be gay but how can you come to the conclusion after watching this episode? there was not even one hint of it.

I concluded he was gay when he lunged for Hector after he shot his partner.

I don't think Gomez is back in El Paso, but when Hank starts talking about Heisenberg investigation, I'm sure they bring him in since it's a pretty wide case.

Plus, Gomez has to protect Gus from the inside.

I'm getting a real Godfather Part 2 vibe with the flashback. You just know they're going to show another one where Gus goes back and kills everyone except Tio.

They basically already showed that. Only Don Eladio is a mystery

Really? I don't remember that at all. Could you refresh my memory?

Well I think the other dude that was there was the Cartel dude that was killed by cops/swat/dea whatever in a previous season.

WAIT! something doesn't make sense.

Mike calls Gus...

Is it possible for Mike to dig up all this info without arousing any kind of suspicion?

As I said, he has a mole on the inside. I know it's generic, but it's absolutely necessary in a show where someone has built a long standing drug empire that spans the Western United States. Show wouldn't make any logical sense without this being true.

Ok I am NOT reading this thread in fear of being spoilered to hell, but I just wanted to chime in i've started watching this show, currently on s01e02 and I am liking it, and have no clue how it will go.

One question though, does this show have filler/lame episodes? Also, are any of the seasons particularly weak in comparison to the rest in your opinion?

Can't wait to get my mbp charger fixed so i can get on this shit right away, finally have a tv show to plow through.

To me the only real lame episodes were towards the start of Season 4. There are some which are all about character development and not story development, but it's very intentional and not filler (I'm thinking of Fly and Four Days Out). Those two are two of my favourites in the whole show.

There have only been two full 13-episode seasons so it's hard to answer your second question, but 2 is in my opinion the best and just absolutely phenomenal, 3 is still really good and 4 was disappointing at the start but it's really cranking up in my eyes.

Also the Seasons are short so I would say, throw caution to the wind, just keep watching and discover the show for yourself

First of all, I envy you - to think back at how the show began (amazing, but on a small scale), it amazes me at how things currently are in season 4. You're in for a hell of a ride.

It's generally agreed that either season 2 or 3 is the best, with season 1 truncated due to the Writers' Strike but still thoroughly enjoyable. Season 4 is impossible to rank at this point. Some will say that an episode in season 3, named Fly, is 'filler / lame', but to me it's one of the best episodes in an already incredible season of television.

Leave this thread to avoid spoilers, and enjoy!

If anything, S1 is the weakest.

There is no filler really, heavily serialized - although there is one S3 episode that people either love or HATE.

do you think walt will go full beard when he finally crosses over?

Honest question: can you actually grow facial hair when undergoing chemotherapy? I thought the treatment caused to you to lose all hair, not just the ones on your head. I'm probably mistaken, however.

Why not just form your own opinion rather than relying on the highly subjective opinions of total strangers?
