Pretty worried I'm going to lose my job and my house over this. Does leaving not cause massive issues for companies and therefore employing people in this country?

I don't understand the economic perspective of Leave voters. Do they not believe that leaving has a detrimental impact on their country's economy? Do they not care, or think that that applies to them?

Ignorance and being fed a bunch of misinformation

This still ain't 2008.

Democracy was a mistake.

Certain things should take larger margins than 51-49.

The British people have spoken before it's too late.

No more inflated home price and cheap labor. We need something similar here in Canada.

This is historic. We're watching the UK destroy its economy in real time. And people are being smug about it, as though it's a good thing. Holy shit.

I cant believe some of ya'll are arguing that voters cant be trusted with important decisions like this.

Seriously?

My side looks like losing but I appreciate the vote. We were treated like the adults we are who can decide on important issues. Thats the kind of democracy I WANT. I dont want my vote watered down by some repesentative system where polticians can be bribed to vote one way or another.

There's an obvious right answer in this referendum but they put it to a vote. The ramifications for this going through will undoubtedly be much worse if they stay in. This isn't even something that needs to be put up for a vote or debate.

Are you kidding? There will be Orange Lodges down at the border building a wall tomorrow.

Brexit makes a united Ireland more likely that ever though, I'm sure the rest of the UK would actually be quite happy to see the back of us, as we cost significantly more than we give back. :/

I dunno, this whole thing from my perspective in Belfast, it seems like nobody has a clue how it will work for us. Any question about the border is met with "err well we don't know really. Hopefully we can sort that out."

It looks like Leave is winning. If it ends up this way then all I can say is we're fucked. Oh, and the country has far too many bigots, but I knew that already.

Declan Kearney, a Northern Ireland Assembly member for Sinn Féin, says his party will push for a poll on whether Northern Ireland should stay in the UK or unite with the Republic of Ireland if the UK votes to leave the EU.
Declan Kearney BBC He says it will be "completely undemocratic" if the majority of people in Northern Ireland vote Remain but are "drawn out of the EU as a result of being carried on the coat-tails" of voters in England.
"Sinn Féin will continue to press... for a border poll under the provisions of the Good Friday Agreement, because this (EU Referendum) will demonstrate palpably a dramatic change in the political landscape of the north," he says.
Makes sense.

So if I understand this right, the leave result could still be overturned by the government?

It's not legally binding. It's advisory. The Government can entirely ignore it.

It'd be the last thing they do before Westminster is burnt to the ground though.

They don't give a fuck about what happens to the financial sector or the pound basically. Lots of leave voters live in places that used to have industrial jobs until the 80s and since then have been left by the wayside. They're already in a hopeless situation but the most obvious issue from their POV is that wages are being driven down by migration from the rest of the EU.

People are talking about it being racist but I think that really misunderstands it in a big way. The issues lots of people have with Polish immigration and so on isn't how they look or act but just the fact that they are depressing wages in the eyes of many working class voters.
