Agree with these. Nintendo threads are awful lately since the last couple of years of Nintendo performing badly have put its supporters on full fucking alert, any dissent about the company and they swarm on you. I still don't see why Tash was banned (seems like mods were finding any excuse after that post from last year was quoted in a recent thread), and that this thread was almost closed for a while for no real reason?
At the same time all the meta discussion on gaf is pretty boring too.
Edit: is radio perma'd? Quite liked the guy personally.
I think it's a bit stupid to have a rule like that, but then for a lot of the shit that's posted to be left as if it's on topic.
Again, I don't really care what's in there myself, but if there's a rule that you can't question what's posted, then somebody should be MODERATING it.
Yeah, actually complaining about it is a bit lame, but all he did was ask what was funny about it. I still think if you want to be a bit of a dork and complain, you should be able to, though.
It's boring because it seems to be completely circular right now, but I think it's important to question what the fuck is going on here because without something changing, it's only getting worse.

Someone did moderate it, but not well. The pictures weren't obviously funny and he was just asking for the the joke. Why should they deserve a ban for that?
Gaming is going to get way worse before it gets better, it naturally comes with the cycle. Nintendo fans should just be relieved that they only have 4-6 months of it left before everyone forgets about the Wii U as it fades further and further into irrelevance.

Agreed on the meta discussion going round in circles though. Gaf seems stuck between a place where almost anything goes, fairly light moderation, post as you wish, show evidence to support your arguments type of forum, and the type that is more controlled and limited, but perhaps more civil?

I meant moderation of the pictures posted - I've been in there before and people have been posting bouncing tits and shit. I don't care about that, but it's not the point of the thread & I'm sure some people would rather not have that on their page if they're reading GAF in public or at work or something.

OK, I get that it's a subjective thing, so my point isn't the strongest, but the main argument that I was making wasn't really about that thread, so much as the general happenings on GAF recently.
I'd still like to find out why this thread was going to be closed for a month for having been posted in the wrong section when it could easily have been moved at any point. Closing it for a month makes no sense to me whatsoever.
This thread is, for all intents, a chat room. And that's fine, in Community, where it's not bogging down Off-Topic (while Community is intended for subscription use and not f5ing). OT3 was intentionally posted on the Off-Topic forum after the thread's place was established in Community, which is basically a "fuck you" to the established parameters. Punitive action was taken in response, but some folks came forth expressing that there was a miscommunication about what the standard practices were and that there was confusion with the official thread rules on the Gaming side, with one person in particular taking blame and claiming to have convinced everyone of this, and that seemed like a reasonable enough mistake, so the decision was reversed.
Keep in mind that there are a lot of seriously salty anti-GAF people in this thread, including the creepy asshole who account suicided earlier today, so those are relevant circumstances as well for why the worst would be assumed.
OK, I don't entirely agree with the action taken, but at least I understand the reasoning now.
Is there anything that can be done about the lack of visibility a thread like this has when it's buried away in Community? If you look at the first few pages here you'll see how many new faces we got thanks to it being in OT because they'd never seen the last one as nobody really browses the Community forums.

Radiohead and J_Tourettes/I forget his alt both had issues with the current state of GAF/with you but when you say there's a lot of anti-GAF people in this thread, it only serves to make me feel like BritGAF and RestofGAF are being further separated. There's no real reason for there to be a divide but I definitely feel more like there is one now than I did a few hours ago.
I understand your concerns and it's a work in progress. It's an unfortunate drawback of the Community divide. We've taken some steps in the past, like moving very active Gaming Community threads to the Gaming side for a brief time with a title change to encourage exposure and new subscriptions, and the same may need to be done for OT Community. It'll be discussed internally.

Besides the general confusion on what should be in OT and what should be in Community I think the modding has been better since the return of the "cunt". Less banning on PC things but more banning on 3 word posts, +1's, and inbefore___.jpg
Shit is annoying and I am glad people get banned for it. Its a short ban and hopefully they won't do it again.
Plus sometimes the amount of time people spend on this place a banning can be a blessing.
