People complained because power *allegedly* mattered but ultimately didnt.
Its weird they took away power level advantages from Trials and Iron Banner but to be honest its never matter much. People spend the vast majority of their time in destiny at level cap or close enough to it that it wouldnt matter anyways.
Everybody who plays the game regularly will be at or near 300+ so enabling Light would only be relevant insofar as super casuals and newbies dip their feet in. This measure makes monthly special activities open to them without really diminishing my experience at all so its good.
What I would absolutely rant about is them capping token then una like they did with Faction rally. If you dont want people getting full sets in one go, dont put it all for offer (like D1: this month we get chest and legs only for instance). Offering it all but making it RNG with limited chances whether you get a full set is atrocious design.
I remember how LL mattering came about.
Bungie advertised IB as PvP challenge where your power / LL really matters. Then IB came and level 1 character was equal to max lvl and max light character in performance. LL didn't matter, at all. Community demanded for it to actually matter so Bungie made it actually matter.
Sure in long run that is very token thing as wast majority will reach max or near max LL so everyone interested in Trials or IB are within the spread where difference doesn't matter. LL mattering still basically made them end game PvP as low LL couldn't compete.
Regressing on this I just find weird and pointless from Bungie's side. Why not to keep LL / PL mattering and make these "PvP end game"?
On token stuff I 100% agree.
