This part is actually not quite true; he asked me to send the minion, and I sent it, directly through eBay's message system. I should have been clearer when I said "e-mailed". eBay would have the record of him asking me for the minion code and me sending him a picture of the little cardboard insert that contains it.

That part really doesn't matter to ebay. I don't sell codes on there any more for that reason. I've sold a few Xbox Live codes that I had spare and some buyer decided to claim his card was hacked and he didn't make the purchase. This despite keeping contact with me and claiming the code.

EBay sided with the buyer and I was out the money for the code.

It's rare to have ebay side with a seller.. especially when it comes to digital codes

Lol ebay doesn't work like that. You get a negative AND they pull the money from your account PLUS charge you a chargeback fee. Just stop selling anything on eBay. Not bad for buyers but absolutely terrible for sellers.

WTT: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes (Steam) for ... something

Here's the deal: I've never played a Metal Gear Solid game (but I did play Metal Gear on the NES!). I wouldn't mind trying out Ground Zeroes or The Phantom Pain as an intro to the series, and Ground Zeroes seems a cheap way in.

I don't really want to pay any money for it though, because I don't know if it's my thing, so given I have no mysterious benefactor throwing codes at me, I'll have to trade for it. I have a few spare copies of this and that (Dark Souls, Guacamelee, Supreme Commander 2, Hitman: Absolution, Gunpoint, Mini Ninjas, Hack 'n' Slash, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, all Steam keys).

It's now coming up that it's a non-genuine copy.... Where can I got a genuine license key, I hate this dodgy crap?

Just be careful with any keys you buy in this thread. Make sure they're legitimate, non-developer codes that won't expire sometime in the future.

Hey GAF, I need some advice.

This is why I prefer selling on GAF rather than eBay. I sold the new Final Fantasy XIV soundtrack, which contains a code to redeem a minion that you use in the game, to a buyer in Florida. He gets the package but is demanding a full refund because the case is damaged:

Only the jewel case is damaged (he hasn't sent pictures of the actual Blu-ray). And he already redeemed the minion code, which makes up a good portion of the value of this item. This feels like a scam but I don't want to falsely accuse the guy just yet.

eBay offers me these options, in addition to letting me contact the buyer:

- Accept the return (You pay for shipping and can send our return label or your own. Wait to get the item back before you refund the buyer.)

- Refund the buyer (You fully refund the buyer to close this request. The buyer keeps the item.)

- Offer a partial refund (You have one chance to offer an amount. The buyer keeps the item.)

The first one isn't really appropriate because in redeeming the minion he has already extracted value from the blu-ray. (If I try to sell it with no minion code, its value drops almost by half.)

I'm willing to trust him about the damage to the jewel case and would refund the value of a jewel case (50¢ or so?) plus a few dollars more to cover his hassle in acquiring it. But if he refuses this partial refund, there doesn't seem to be a way for me to stop him from claiming the full value, including the minion that he has redeemed.

What would you do, GAF?

He just needs to call. I had this issue a few weeks ago where someone bought a sealed game, opened it, used the codes and then wanted a refund. The customer service understood the issue and immediately denied the refund and freed up the funds.

Had it for two days, just not feeling it. You'll end up with one Star Wars playset, plus four figures (the started pack comes with Anakin and Ashoka Tano). Also include the various internet codes, which are unused.

Comes with box, manual, etc. Some of the plastic in-box packaging was discarded, as were the boxes and packaging for Obi Wan and Ssbine.

Game retails at $65, figures at $13 each. So this is $91 of stuff. Looking for $65 all in via PayPal (i.e., the extra figures come free). Shipping US only.

EDIT -- one of the lightsabers in Ashoka's hand is loose. Pretty sure that isn't what the manufacturer intended, but I don't know. It does stay in there when at rest.
