Welcome to Corolla...

Bye Sweet Carole is a narrative-horror game inspired by the greatest animation movies and created by Chris Darril (Remothered series). Follow the last known trail of Carole Simmons and discover what is happening in the eerie Bunny Hall…

Once upon a time...

Set in the early 1900s, in an age where the phenomenon of the feminist political movement begins to shake the British nation, young Lana Benton, guest of the eerie Bunny Hall orphanage, is the only one to suspect that her best friend Carole didn't just run away.

The secret correspondence between Carole and a mysterious "French"pushes Lana to investigate enough to find herself surviving, poised between the mortal real world and the fantastic kingdom of Corolla that, under the cruel influence of the terrifying Mr.Kyn, the insensitive owl Velenia, and the ravenous colonies of tar bunnies, is inexorably perishing.

It is a Disney-type animation along with a Terror theme, from the team involved in Remothered, with inspiration from Clock tower.

Woke trash confirmed!

Actually is that hand animation? Not seen that in ages.
I give benefit to the doubt.

The game staff is the one who made Remothered... He is also linked and influenced by Keiichiro Toyama and takes influence from Clock tower.

By the way, if you buy Remothered, let it be the PS4 version, avoid the switch version... I bought both and the Switch version is horrible.

This looks interesting, gonna forget about it and hope it gets in my feed some time again in the future when it gets Steam version lol

I just saw this now, for some reason, and it looks incredible. What a unique game. Looks like a Don Bluth movie, or even one of the weird darker late-70s Disney.

I have a very difficult time even entertaining stuff like this as a video game. It and software like it is nothing more than fetish. It's an affront to what the medium was and should be again, respectfully.

After spending time with the Bye Sweet Carole demo at Gamescom 2025, it's clear the developers have crafted something truly special and unsettling. The first thing that hits you is the unmistakable animation style, which feels like a lost Disney classic from the 1930s. The hand-drawn art is incredibly fluid and expressive, a beautiful tribute to films like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Alice in Wonderland. Yet, this familiar visual charm is expertly subverted, as what starts as a whimsical fairytale quickly devolves into a chilling psychological horror. The tension between the nostalgic art and the game's grim atmosphere creates a profound sense of unease, as if the innocence of a beloved childhood memory has been twisted into a nightmare. This dark fairytale aesthetic is what sets Bye Sweet Carole apart. While its style draws an inevitable comparison to the hand-drawn brilliance of Cuphead, this game uses the aesthetic not for frenetic action, but to build a sense of creeping dread. It doesn't rely on cheap jump scares, but instead builds its terror by corrupting the familiar. The entire experience felt like a macabre stage play; each character, from the haunting tar rabbits to the seemingly friendly Mr. Baesie, acted like a distorted puppet in a very dark show. This approach echoes the unsettling vibes of games like Alice: Madness Returns, where a beloved fantasy world becomes a reflection of deep-seated trauma. The demo leaves a lasting impression, proving that behind its beautiful, nostalgic facade lies a deeply atmospheric and terrifying journey. It's a game that promises to haunt you long after the credits roll and we can't wait to fully play it when the final version comes out.

Coming October 9, 2025 to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch https://store.steampowered.com/app/24...

It looks very nice but it strikes me as a Harold Halibut type situation, where so much thought and care has been poured into the art design and visuals but they forgot to make a compelling game with it. I suppose we'll see soon enough.

The game's out. Probably not perfect, but the freshness of this kind of approach makes it worth a look.

If anyone's trying it, don't hesitate to share your thoughts.

They say the chases are poorly implemented, but it's very similar to Clock Tower.

I'm going to buy it along with Ninja Gaiden 4 and Sonic Crossworld.

Reviews are pretty divisive so far but mostly mediocre, too bad:

Man, I really hoped it'll be at least similar to SEGA's excellent Castle of Illusion (or any other great Disney game from NES / SNES / Mega Drive) in terms of gameplay, but instead and based on gameplay I saw, it's anything but that, much slower, bug heavy adventure game with some needless gameplay sections, mediocre combat, chases etc. Oh well, plenty of other games to play.

I have read this on a review:

One girl accidentally drops her manifesto for women's liberation in front of the teacher, and later she reads from a book that just lists the names of accomplished women throughout history. If horror is meant to elicit strong emotions, the most that Bye Sweet Carole can manage is cringe.

An other feminist game...

Sounds like a Chris Darrill game.

It's tricky with him, because both of his prior games can be described fairly as mediocre, but there's still a range within that. Remothered 1 was really intriguing! Remothered 2 was pretty bad. But despite that I wouldn't quibble with any reviewer who gave both games a 5 or 6 out of 10.

I'm sort of moving on faith that this game is more of a Remothered 1 kind of mediocre.

Whatever happens... don't pay attention to the reviews.

Because this game is going to become a cult video game, and then it'll be hard to get.

I know from experience.

not even video game analysts know.

I just beat it and enjoyed it for what it was.

It's essentially a point and click adventure with basic puzzles, quick time events, run and hide, and the two boss battles with basic action gameplay. It also has bugs, but didn't encounter any that prevented me for proceeding forward.

It's a coming of age story and very female empowered themed. For some, this will be woke, but it didn't bother me.

They did spend a lot of time on the last chapter and ending. It did feel like a story they wanted to tell and likely would've been better served as a movie, but force fit it into a game.

Anybody interested, I'd recommed it on a sale for $15 or less and hopefully by that time most if not all the bugs have been patched out.

I'm going to buy it today. Which version is better? Switch or PS5?

Is there a lot of sacrifice?

Why was this needed?

I like the animation and even the main character. She doesn't look like your usual feminist Mary Sue. And she is not ugly.

But why was that needed?

It fits within the theme that the creative team wanted to express.

A cult classic.

It's similar to Clock Tower games from the 90s.

I think that once the game arrives, I'll do a review to go into more detail and see how different the Switch version is from the PS5 version. In any case, I'm going to support the company and buy both versions.
