That human trafficking law is all sorts of trouble.

Death penalty should be gone.

And Prop 30? Um... didn't they already factor this into the budget?

Well, it looks my days of human trafficking are over. It sucks too, because it really was a growth industry and I had a passion for my job.

In all seriousness, though, if prop 30 doesn't pass, how fucked are we?

For those who follow this, how difficult will it be for 30 to pass with 21% votes counted?

Usually the urban areas come in later because they take longer to count, and urban areas tend to vote more liberal.

So theres hope....but its not looking good at all.

Yay! It's at 50.1%

Now the rest of that 70% of precincts just need to keep the same spread or better...

To all of you that voted YES on 35, did you educated yourselves on it? I read about all of the crap in it and man that's miss labeled all to hell. Talk about a poorly written proposition. Hope you enjoy your internet traffic being monitored and being used for anything against you, also good bye porn industry.

Glad to see 30 turning around, I was worried.

Everything else seems to be going according to keikaku.

The human trafficking prop is a horribly written initiative. But you can't beat something that its supporters just have to say, "Well aren't you against human slavery?!"

Don't expect nuance from the general electorate.

prop 30 succeeding is a huge surprise

hang in there indeed

looks like 32 is getting clobbered. good.

edit: and yeah, i voted no on 35. it seemed a little too obviously good to be voted on. it's like, 'jail murderers?' as an amendment. just raised some red flags.

I really didn't know if I registered to vote so I didn't do research on 40, decided not to vote. Don't want my choice to be incorrect.

Its all about reading comprehension, your average voter doesn't care much to research what it is they are voting for. Case in point 35 and 40, two very poorly described and worded propositions.

At least with 30 it was pretty clear, and I'm happy to see that us California gaffers supported it.

You know there's going to be people who don't know anything about the propositions, and just vote no on everything assuming they're all tax increases or something

The prop was an almost universal no in this thread.

Sadly, the title doomed us all.

Its like a prop saying

"Proposal to ban cancer?"

It would win, even if it proposes mandatory vasectomies on all.

We really need to change this proposition nonsense, I'm not saying eliminate it altogether but the current setup is just ridiculous....

More money for schools is always a good thing.

Not if your school system is fucked on the most basic level and no amount of funding will fix it unless you change the entire system from the ground up.

(No idea about CA schools but in RI it isn't money that is often the problem here).

if 30 and j pass, doesn't that mean a 0.75% hike in sales taxes in los angeles? if so, we'd be at a minimum of 9.5% (up from 8.75), and as high as 10.5%. Am I wrong with that math?
