Reality is biased towards the 360 when it comes to multi-plats.

Join the PC ranks and be done with it! 1080p native res, 4xAA, locked 120fps on a 120 hz monitor, best way to play if you ask me :-)
 
As a multiplat owner, I'd rarely be silly enough to buy a PS3 version of almost ANY game (except Vanquish, that's the right one), let alone a CoD game.

Regardless, after this long, Treyarch should have got their shit together by now.

Almost makes you believe in conspiracy theories.

Oblivion was better on PS3 than 360, wasn't it? Which is odd considering it's the other way with Skyrim.
 
PS3 version is unacceptable but both look like shit. I tried MW3 during a free weekend on Steam and was shocked by how shitty it looked at 1200p with AA, so I don't know if these games ever actually look good. It also played like babby's first FPS. I have no idea what people still see in this franchise.

Totally swept under the rug by DF, and not even mentioned in their "face off". If the situation is vice versa, like BO2's questionable framerate advantage on the 360, there is significant magnification of the PS3's supposed deficiency. You can't really trust a site like that. Better off seeing what the game looks like in person and make your own judgement.

I own the PS3 version. The texture pop in is so bad it almost makes the game unplayable.

Most people won't even notice a drop from 60 to 45 in heavy fighting conditions.

Stevie Wonder could see the PS3 texture pop in. I only bought the PS3 one to avoid 3 discs on 360.

I wouldn't worry about it. The guy is obviously on a different plane of reality and our universes have just temporarily got their wires crossed. I have no idea how anyone can claim the texture pop on PS3 is subjective unless they haven't seen what texture pop looks like in rage. You can put a stop watch on both versions and conclusively prove the PS3 version is worse. He tries to make it sound like a matter of opinion.

Setting aside how awful the PS3 versions look, as far console shooters go there isn't anything else that is as remotely smooth. Not the MoHs and certainly not the Crysis games.

Yeah framerate is one thing I will always give the series credit for. I wish more console game makers gave a shit about it. But everything else is awful.
 
Is anyone really surprised at this outcome ? we've had the same result on the same engine / franchise since 2007 ...

Jesus, there's almost always a 10~20 FPS difference during gameplay sequences (not counting scripted one's)
 
Crikey, I think this is the first time I've entered one of these threads, are they all this bad?

Anyway, received a reply from Richard Leadbetter. They're looking into the PS3 blur issue so expect a revised article and hopefully word gets to Treyarch so they can repatch the game pronto.

Screens were floating around showing how blurry the PS3 version was the night before launch.

If you're not seeing any blurriness, it's probably just because you don't have the 360 version next to it to compare. I've played the PS3 version too and after seeing the screens pre-launch I thought people were exaggerating. However I've since been able to compare to the 360 version and it's definitely blurry and a loss of detail in the pictures.
 
DF are just updating the article now so keep your eyes peeled.

Richard's just mailed me a couple of direct grabs of the PS3 version comparing with and without patch. Clear difference in sharpness and clarity. Be interested to see just what went wrong with the patch.
 
Interesting to see other PC users have problems with DoF high. I only drop frames below 60fps when I'm downsampling as well. Are we sure it's actually a bug and not just a performance hog?
 
Redboxed on 360 this today, I don't remember Black Ops looking this bad, but I suppose that was 2 years ago. I completely skipped MW3, did it look this dated?

The difference is definitely more apparent than those shots portray, however. Hopefully Treyarch acknowledges and repatches the game.

So you're saying, that you can do a better job of discerning which SKU performs better, simply by looking, than DF can with all their state of the art capturing software? And their expertise?

What do you mean, "best way to play if you ask me"? Well of course it is, it goes without saying. No one would possibly dispute that. But just say," it looks amazing on my PC", this "IMO" bullshit is just annoying.

We all know every single game released (pretty much) will look better on PC. It's a given. It's really not necessary to dress it up as a personal preference, it's an objective reality.

I have the feeling you would not have any problems if it was a PS3/360 gamer claiming the same....

And I find it very surprising that you are enraged by his use of "IMO", usually PC gamers are advised to explicitly specify that it is just an opinion. The whole "objective superiority" argument has been played out, let people enjoy their games the way they want and it applies to PC gamers as well. ;)

Oh, I agree it sounds very condescending sometimes but there is nothing wrong with enjoying our platform of choice.
You might add that there are more "sublte" ways of doing it but the baseline remains true. And I would not have any problems with a PS4 gamer in 2014 tauting the PC crowd with its superior graphics, that's just the way it is.

It's just annoying, rightly or wrongly!

I don't believe there are malicious intents on their end, it's just that they....like playing on PC.
I don't know why you seem so gutted, there is nothing to be upset about really.
We are on a video game forum and this kind of reaction is par for the course.
The fact that it's "obvious" is not a valid complaint IMO, I'm certainly not going to censor myself (if I genuinely believe X PC game/port looks way better than Y) because it may come across as barefaced to some people.
 
Guys what if they introduced the Blur intentionally to mitigate the fucking horrible aliasing ? that unpatched screen looks worse imo.

It doesn't in motion. I'd even go out on one to say it looks like the prettiest PS3 COD to date IQ-wise.

Hopefully DF do the decent thing and fully revise the article when/if it gets repatched.

In-fact the full write up is being done by the other guy, Thomas, not Richard. That should please the DF haters too I guess.

Ah, fair enough. Be interesting to see if they can get to the bottom of what causes the blur.

And hopefully word reaches Treyarch somehow. I don't use Twitter so can't contact them myself. Went to the offical forums and, well, it's rather 'chaotic' over there shall we say :)

My point is that you are completely overreacting. Aside from the "elitist" feeling which I disapprove as well, I don't see anything to rage over.

Anyway next-gen is just around the corner, and hopefully will blow away anything we've seen on high-end PC hardware.

Please note that I never used the term (or once) and if you have read my posts you should know that I don't like this term being used to refer to PC versions because honestly there are various parameters to take into account. I'm sure you would agree with me on that one.
Better graphics don't necessarily mean "superior version" in my book. As I've said countless times different gamers value their gaming time differently.

I did not mean to offend you by using the term "overreacting", I'm sorry but it seems to me that you are building a case for something that isn't there. A gaffer dared to voice his opinion on the PC port and right after you are jumping at his throat...Why bother ? You are free to discard his posts (or mine) if you think they are not worthy of being responded to, if an opinion infuriates you so much then perhaps it would be wiser not to engage them.

Saying that the PC version looks better should not be offensive to anyone. Hence why I was surprised by your posts. It sounded like someone killed your dog or something.

I have to agree with this. I'm surprised how clean it looks in 1080p on my PS3. Admittedly my viewing distance definitely compensates but whilst the PS3 version might not be on par with 360, it's by no means a Bayonetta situation.

If you're a PS3 only owner, there's certainly no reason to not pick BLOPS 2 up if you so wish, especially seeing the blur will be removed in a future patch. It's simply not that big a deal as is being made out.
