So, after maybe 15 hours or so in the beta, lvl 20, played all the modes so far, gonna give you my further impressions:
- It's still CoD. If you didn't like the CoD gameplay before, you won't like it now.
- Overall speed of the game is reduced. The fact that you are no longer visible on the minimap upon firing your weapon makes everyone move a little more cautious. If they change that back, they change the heart of this title. Overall, this game is definitely less run and gun then the last 5 Cod games. I hope it stays that way, it's much much more pleasant to play.
- Weapon Feedback and Hit Feedback is awesome. The "tock tock" sound when you hit someone is satisfying and the "death animations" seem more polished then before.
- The Weapon selection is the best I've seen in a Call of Duty title since black ops 1. AK47, M1A4, Kar98(!), Aug, MP5/7, FAMAS - super cool
- No Pick 10 and having real classes is a godsend, Finally you'll see grenades and other equipment again.
- Night Mode is impressive. Once they enable HDR in the full game, I suppose it will be an eye opener. Looks impressive and is super comfy to play.
- Apart from the slightly blurry image, the technical performance on my PS4 Pro (1080P Mode) is perfect. 60fps all the time, no noticeable lag, no crashes, no nothing
- Gunsmith Mode is deep as fuck and the option to edit your classes on the fly, during gameplay, is just super super welcome.
- The maps are finally good again. Power positions deserve that name again and you will need a decent amount of time to find all the little hidden details they've put in the maps. Even after all these hours, I still find new routes and ways to maneuver around the map and take out my enemies.
- The new mechanics (mounting weapons, opening doors, tactical sprint) fit right into the game and become second nature pretty quick.
There are a few minor nitpicks I have (not being able to mount your gun to a door for example) but so far the positives FAR FAR outshine the negatives. I'm well aware that this game will turn into a cosmetic MTX shithole by late november, but I don't give a fuck. The base content is cool (and there's plenty of it!), new maps will be free and I managed to ignore the new weapons and cosmetic stuff in previous cods pretty easily and this time, it'll be no different.
Game went from "maybe it'll be decent" to, "day one for sure" for me. It's the best cod on PS4 and the best cod since MW3 imo.
