Call of Duty Vita confirmed for Fall release.

BlkOps on PS3 was exactly PSV resolution.

Makes me wonder about the technical quality of this PSV SKU. Maybe it'll be 30fps, ewww.

If they're striving for parity with the console versions, you better believe that 60 fps will get the priority over native resolution.

Just port black ops with more maps and call it a day

And I'd most likely buy it as well :(

No click analog is a bitch tho..

Yeah, "No click analog" sort of baffled me the first time I tested the Vita. Oh and I would much rather have a port of Call of Duty 4 then Black Ops.

It very well might not this year, but at some point, it will.

If they have to build a specific game for 3DS, but they're just porting the 360 game to PSV, it'll make it easier to turn a profit, so they might get a year as the only handheld version, we'll see.

By the time this years cod launches 3ds should have an install base approaching 30 million worldwide vita could easily be less than 5, there will be one this year

I'm not a FPS guy, but im not going to shit on this news. The Vita will either have a huge e3 (with all these rumors and soft-announced games) or disappoint like no other.

With announced titles not yet shown like Assassins Creed, BioShock, Call of duty, EA sports 2k13, Final fantasy, Jak & Daxter HD, Killzone, Resistance, Metal gear Solid HD, and more titles, I could see it making a big splash in the west with those titles being announced.

However, the current marketing sucks. A lineup like this should cover all the magazines and papers.

So COD on ps3 really runs the in the 50's correct? and at the same resolution. Anyone with enough knowledge of the hardware to make a theoretical performance comparison?

I think that most optimistic point of view would be that Vita is 50% hardware power of PS3.

That was mostly incompetence to be fair, MW3 was back to 600p. It won't be an asset perfect port though, the PSV isn't quite up to that challenge.

Yeah the vita version would be built for the vita which will use lower rez textures and all but look almost the same because of the screen size.

There's so much things you can resize to port a game, like geometry, resolution, framerate (but I think they'll keep 60fps), drawsing distance, textures resolution etc...

The Vita version will be closer to the PS3 with it's textures. But the geometry itself will have to be lowered a lot since the PSV can't push as many polygons as the PS3

You know how many fucking Host Migration will happen over 3G from COD VITA

Lets not fool ourselves, the Ping alone would make you go Why on earth am I playing this shit on a $250.00 handheld for frustrating reasons

Also wheres the L2/R2 scheme gonna show up, let me guess? front touch? or rear touch based lol

I don't know about the two sticks if they offer the L3/R3 scheme too

So hows VITA gonna replace 4 major buttons?

mX08p.jpg

lol!

Call of Duty has been coming out on handhelds for a while now. They are all poor comparisons to their big brothers. People really think this is gonna be some game-changer?

I cant imagine playing a competitive multiplayer shooter on a tiny screen.

You know what is funny is that the 3ds is better prepared to replace missing buttons.

There's 151 million DS out there, yet the last CoD DS game only sold http://www.********.com/game/64304/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-defiance/ thousand worldwide. I don't the 3DS audience is much different from the DS, so they might not see the point if there isn't much income coming from it.

Of course, that just looking at it from one perspective. My own view is that of course they'll make one for 3DS =P

E: Ha! My link is banned. The figure was 130 thousand. It's from a certain ..charts website, so it may not be accurate, but I don't imagine its much off.

Play Uncharted on Vita an you will know that this will be different. Vita can give players a console like experience. I have complete faith this will be a killer title.

Just the rear touch can make this possible. The grenades can be touch based, like they are doing in Resistance: Burning Skies (it looks great).

Running can be a toggle button (touch screen or read touchpad). You wouldn't need to let your finger pressing there to do it.

There are plenty of options. They'll need just to be a bit creative.

You must be bloody joking.

We're talking about devs that are so creatives that they recycle buildings from their old games :p

I have ZERO interest for COD on console but I see myself getting this on Vita for the MP, just being able to level up and play a couple rounds on the go is quite enough for me

Good news. I think they should release Call of Duty Vita as soon as possible. It won't get much attention if released close to 360/PS3/PC and possibly other platforms.

What one thing has in common to the other? I mean... the gameplay is very important, they can't simply reuse anything there. They WILL have to think about the controls, they don't have a choice.

COD on Vita is a great notion but it's got some serious hurdles. As has been mentioned, 3G is not an option for an online multiplayer game like COD. Even over WiFi, you're going to need access to a consistent, low latency connection which eliminates most public access points.

As for cross-platform play with PS3 users, I can't see being competitive on Vita even if the above were solved. I know Vita has 2 analog sticks, but it's no Dualshock so you're likely to be handicapped on the control front from the get go.

...no.

Don't know much about that website, but it's the only source I could find. Do you really think they're that much off?

It's doesn't matter anyway. My point was just because there's a large install base, doesn't mean it'll get a lot of sales if the game isn't suited towards that audience.

Most people play their handhelds at home anyway. On the go doesn't mean commuting, you can move inside your house (or at least that's what I think, right?).

Your points actually cancels each other out. If there is a 3ds version it WILL sell more.
Unless of course the vita has strong sales all year.

Seems like you believe the 3DS user interest will be the same as the Vita user base, I think we know which one appeals more to hardcore gamers. The Wii's install base is almost twice as much as the 360, yet the 360 version destroys the wii one in sales. Heck, the PS3 version probably sold it ten fold. The 3DS version could sell better, and probably will since the difference in console sales is a lot, but we'll see.

Except the Vita screen isn't tiny. And you cannot compare previous handheld Call of Duty games to this because the Vita can offer console quality gaming. Previous handhelds couldn't (though the PSP was close).
