hey guys, this is probably a really stupid question, but oh well.

i spend about 4 days a week living at my boyfriend's place. how can i get packages delivered to his house? if i put my name with his address, i wouldn't be able to pick up a package (if i miss the delivery) because my ID shows my address, not his. do i have to just send everything to his name and address?

i ask this because i had been putting my name with his address and today i missed the delivery from fedex. i called and they're making a big deal out of it (it's their policy, so i am to blame). they wouldn't even tell me if i would for-sure be able to pick up the package if i bring my ID, the receipt from the online store that shows my billing address (matches my ID) and the shipping address (on the package), and my boyfriend with his ID (obviously showing the shipping address but his name instead of mine).

Dunno for sure but seems to me if you go in with both you and you botfriend's ID's, showing his address and your full name, 1+1=2... Just explain and reason with them. And if that's their policy, maybe just put the orders in his name, end of story.

Any bills that are under your name at that address?

Its a stupid policy but if you go in person and show your ID, tell them the address is diffetent , show your boyfriend's ID, say you just moved here. They should give you no trouble if you're honest and tell them why.

There's currently a tax glitch on Futureshop/Bestbuy.ca Right now an extra 4-5% HST tax is being added to every item. For example, a $59.99 game that should cost $67 with tax is coming to $70. I called Best Buy and the person escalated it to their tech team right away (it was doing it on his computer as well). I don't know what this means for people currently ordering but it's best to avoid doing so until it's fixed.

i don't have any bills to his address, no. however, i do have other mail/packages i have received at his address under my name....i wonder if bringing it there would make a difference?? the fedex lady mentioned that i should even bring mail that has been sent to my bf (i don't understand why, since he would have government id anyways). i'll do what you said though. i'm hopeful that they will be cool with it.

I love ordering things off of Amazon Canada. I ordered 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors last night for $20. It's already been shipped and I'll get it tomorrow lol.

Also managed to find Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward last night at EBGames (last copy). Can't wait to get into both.

I lived in Kingston for a couple of years, and I remember how happy I was that everything from Amazon was next day. I moved back to BC, and it's typically 4-7 business days now. That said, EB and Best Buy must have distribution centers out here. Their stuff always shows up next day.

not sure about eb, but bb/fs have a distribution centre in richmond. i looooove when stuff gets shipped from there since i'm in calgary. sometimes stuff comes from mississauga and i swear i feel braincells dying.

It is supposed to have one, it's on the Club Nintendo website. Americans have a code, us Canadian seems to have been screwed once again...

Castlevania should have a Club Nintendo code. It shows up here: https://club.nintendo.com/coins.do

And many third-party games are coming with Club Nintendo codes now.

Speaking of that, I think I lost my Club Nintendo code for VLR and I threw away the receipt, so I don't think I can contact Nintendo. :/

Oh lol. My bad. Someone mentioned that he didn't have any code. So, I thought it didn't have since it's a 3rd party. I guess, it's a Canadian copy? :lol

Yea from Ebgames.ca

I heard from 2 people in Montreal who did not have a code in their box either... Oh well! Talking with Club Nintendo through e-mails. They want me to cut my UPC code and send it to them by traceable mail. That would mean cutting the back cover of a game, I am a collector so no... And minimum price for a traceable anything to the US is 15$... so no either! Someone in another topic said that he been able to get activation with a scan before so I am going to try that.

Usually I would not care that much, but it is really what might make the difference between Platinum or Gold for this year.

So my Tomb Raider order came in. The bag was heavier and bigger than a game box so I opened it and found it's a pack thing. There is the game and I think it is a book or something?

It says
"TOMB RAIDER The Beginning DARK HORSE"

I'm still going to return this probably.

EDIT:
Oh the cover says
EXCLUSIVE

Oh, didn't know they would accept a UPC code. Will try that out and scan it.

This is a little bit of a different situation but I get fed ex deliveries to my workplace all the time. I put my name and the name of my company. They usually just let the girl at the front sign for it then leave.

I've stumbled upon something really weird at a gamestop: factory sealed games listed as "recycled", and specifically, the Bit Trip Complete collection for Wii, which was not released in Canada. Any idea what that's all about?

It seems that the US Netflix DNS settings I posted no longer work or maybe I've used too many internets. I went to Blockless.TV and got a new DNS.

Not sure what exactly happens after the 7 day trial ends though.

wow the world is upside down! They usually try to sale me unsealed game as new!

Oh and Nintendo consumer service once again live up to their great reputation, they solved my missing card problem for Castlevania! =)

Use your name, you'll be fine. My ID says Cambridge but while I was living in my apartment in Toronto, I just would show ID. If it matches your actual name, you'll be fine. I've never once had an issue with this and have had tons of packages sent, that I had to pick up from Canada Post, Fedex, Purolator etc.

Bit Trip Complete was released in Canada. It was just released in a small shipment. I know this because I purchased a copy a week after it released.

I just traded in some stuff at Best Buy. They gave me store credit instead of a gift card. What's the difference? The card says I can spend it in any store or online.

Reminds me of seeing Vanilla Coke in convenience stores. I thought they don't have that here anymore.

I usually pick my vanilla coke from my local cash and carry. They import it from the US since it's not sold here.

they even have mexican coke/pepsi. I really need to try that out one day.

Is Naruto Storm 3 worth it for $10 off a game in April, or should I wait until it hits the bargain bin? (Future Shop).

I'm personally going to wait for a price drop. If you want to wait for a price drop, it may take around 6 months to do so, going from when Storm 2 dropped in price.

Yup. No French at all, and ESRB is english only.

EB and other retailers (Staples, Wal-Mart, Zellers) buy what I guess are bulk cheap games from the US for their bargain bins. That's why the cover arts are English-only. Some of the games include Tintin, Air Conflicts, Port Royale, and Tropico.

Strangely enough FS puts some of those games on their trade-in list.

I have one netflix account but it's shared among numerous systems. Netflix is not limited by devices, it's limited by current viewers. My netflix login information is pretty much used by my immediate family and a handful of friends. I believe netflix limits current viewers to 3(?). I have had the problem where I need to find and shut off a device to watch it on another. What's really interesting is that I live in Canada and I shared information with a friend in the US. He actually gets the US netflix selection, complete with his own suggested viewings and rating system despite using my Canadian account. I have been able to use proxies to get the US Netflix selection in the past ;o

What happens when you pre-order games on ebgames.ca? Do you usually wait a day to get them? Or day of?

I find with futureshop for instance, I get games the day of release, rather than a day later. I live in Toronto if it matters.

I usually pre-order from EB and get them on the day of release. Pre-ordered Tomb Raider from FS and got it today as well. I'm in Vancouver.

I think those Roku streaming boxes. I think they're like $59. Blu Ray players and AppleTV are about $100 and then you have your Wiis at $129 (not the new model).

Technically, the device you're posting on since it can likely run Netflix. ;) I get that you probably need something else that you can hook up to your TV.

As someone else said, a roku box would work in terms of affordability and all you have to do is download the free app. However, since netflix has an app on pretty much every device out there, including the 3ds, you might not have to buy anything in the end.

Use the C/O tag. It means "care of". Basically just fill it out like...

btkadams' Name
C/O Boyfriend's Name
1234 Main Street
North Pole
H0H 0H0

If an online form gives you two rows for the street address (they usually do), put the C/O part in the first row, and put the street address in the second row.

If you do this, then it's officially a package for you, but it's officially being sent to your boyfriend's place, and either one of you should be allowed to pick it up.

I just got an email for a 25% off coupon when you spend $50+ at SDM this Friday. Seems electronics are a valid item to buy?

Would pick something up if I had money and if my local SDM had nice things.

I picked up a basic Wii-U with this last december. For the console + Nintendo Land + taxes, I paid a total of $310, which was a pretty insane deal for a near-launch-date console.

I would've preferred the Deluxe bundle, but they didn't have any and I still paid less for the equivalent of a Deluxe bundle, minus the charging cradle and extra storage space (didn't care for that since I wanted an hard drive anyway).

Went to do a 2 for $60 trade (gift card) at Future Shop and walked out with $44 in credit. Make sure you guys check your receipts. Luckily I was just out the door.

I've had that happen before. For some reason they marked it as delivered in another city, but I got the package about a day later.
