Canadian Gaming "Deals" and Discussion Thread 6: Sorry, We Can't Afford a New Thread

Well, it's relatively new. In the past year or so. Last year I got 90% of my E3 games day one with free shipping.

Pretty much. It's only since last summer that my orders started to ship late. Waited almost 2 weeks for Disgaea 5 and Tales of Zestiria.

At this pace, I don't think I will receive Xenoblade for another week... not that I care tho... plenty of games in the backlog.

I have had that EXACT conversation with them. Literally the same thing. I live in Vancouver, a solid 40 minute drive from one of their warehouses, and I didn't understand why Free Shipping items, which would normally come on release day, were taking so long.

I had pretty much the same exchange, and that's when I found out their skeezy policy change to manufacture slower ship times, where the shipping speed isn't "time in transit" but actually "time until we get off our ass and send it out". That's why that standard "Usually Ships in 24 Hours" message that most sites have doesn't appear on Amazon.

Is it stated anywhere on amazon that free shipping means an item wont ship when it releases? I havent been able to find anything like that which makes it frustrating when they try to put that spin on it to us.

man what the hell, does Amazon just delay orders with free shipping now? I figured there'd be no point in me paying the $10 since it's not like stuff should need help getting from misssissauga to etobicoke in a day. Guess I should just keep putting my faith into my FS order for xenoblade.

I've stopped ordering from them because I find the whole thing so distasteful

The only thing they say is that to 'get' the game on release day you must select Two-Days Delivery (Prime). Free shipping is "5-7 days".

But Prime/release day delivery fails to happen most of the time.

They make you hunt for it, but yes.

If your order is $25 or more, you may qualify for FREE Super Saver Shipping. With free shipping, your order will be delivered 5-8 business days after all of your items are available to ship, including pre-order items.

I have no way to prove this, but I'm CERTAIN i remember that Amazon used to have the standard "Usually Ships Within 24 Hours" on product pages, until they started to really push Prime. Once they took that away, they made the above info really hard to track down, because it makes them look incompetent.

Well my FS order was charged but not shipped. Yay. Arriving Tuesday.

I'm not in a rush anyways so this is only mildly annoying.

I remember when I used to get things on release day.

Mine too.
But it's always been this way for me for Nintendo games. BB/FS often ships games on Friday for me so I get on Tuesday which is normal for releases. But they do the same thing even for Nintendo's Friday releases.

I blame Nintendo for having Friday street dates instead of being Tuesday like everyone else.

Fire Emblem SE secured as soon as the Dundas Square EB Games opened. Fuck you Nintendo, driving people to madness like this.

EDIT: Toronto bros I suggest checking EB Games Commerce Court. I also walked by the EB Games inside the Eaton Centre and it sounds like they're still taking pre orders as of 11AM. Just overheard a guy pre ordering it

Yeah screw this, just going to pick up a copy today and return the shipped one later

I don't ever recall them placing that on pre-order items. I've only seen it on products which were already released. On release day, I've seen it switched to the "usually ships within 24 hours" and then have my order sit unshipped though. (Never complained about it though.)

Unrelated to shipping but Amazon.ca related: During Black Friday, Amazon.ca had Nest 3 w/ $50 gift card promo. Apparently I fucked up and didn't add a $50 gift card to my Nest 3 order to take advantage of the promo. I thought they were sending me the gift card but apparently after 3 CSRs, they tell me that I had to add the gift card and it would have be discounted. The thing is, in other promos, they would present the consumer with the item to add but this promo didn't. I tried but they wouldn't do anything.

So for future gift card or promotional nonsense, I will take a screenshot of the terms and sale just to save myself the hassle. Oh well, lesson learned.

Oh, and this week's round-up is live: http://gamedealscanada.com/deals - Not really anything worthwile.

Yeah I think I'm gonna do the same thing. This damn shipment number has been blank for over 12 hours now.

Hope the shipped one doesn't have "not for resale" on it where the UPC code is.

Do they still do shit like that?

What the fuck that's a thing? Gonna check my previous Nintendo BB E3 preorders to double check then

EDIT: Never mind saw the post after. Gonna go pick up Xenoblade right now then.

If they sell it, it can't have a "Not for resale" instead of an UPC :P. The one inside the SE might, not sure yet if someone can confirm!

lol.

For some reason I thought that was the console with the game included.

Fucking Fridays.

I just want to go home and play video games.

Amazon.ca still has the new 3DS XL at $199. If I price match it at Best Buy they'll match and take off 10% which would bring it to $179. Not bad.

Clothing Deal

Not gaming related but Live-In Khaki's are 60% off at Gap. This is an in-store promotion. I think Banana Republic is also doing something. Was to busy to check.

Gap ALWAYS has some sort of %40-50 off promotion. Always always. It's to the point that you have to go out of your way to pay full price.

I had to change my payment information with best buy on Wednesday for a future shop order that contained Xenoblade Chronicles, should I be concerned if I haven't received a shipping notice yet?

If I lived two minutes walking distance from an EB Games, I would give them all my business and they would hold things for me as a regular customer.

I really don't want to go to EB to get Xenoblade, but my local BB doesn't have it in stock.... not being left with much choice here!

*waiting until Monday for XenoX*

C'mon FS Order GAF, solidarity!
This is one of the few times I'm not doing a shop 'n swap, lol
