The CPC dropped to like the amount of seats they got in the 2004 election. That must hurt. I wonder if further seat collapses are in the future for them.

I voted NDP - and Don Davies actually won in my riding - I'm pretty pleased with how this evening turned out. Anything to get rid of this festering boil of a Prime Minister, despite it being 10 years too late. I have an innate distrust of majority governments, but I can live with Trudeau at the reins.

A great night overall.

The first and only federal election (I've been able to and participated in three) where my vote has ever mattered.

Im originally from Kelowna but live in Ontario now, so I'm effing shocked lol

I guess that will depend on what comes next. The Liberals won't be able to stampede the New Democratic vote like this again (presumably), but at the same time, assuming that Justin shows he isn't going to nefariously destroy the economy and force everybody to wear niqabs, more Tory voters may break away from the Conservatives in the future.

We'll see who becomes leader, and what tack they take going forward. But that's going to be a challenge, because Harper leaves his party pretty much intellectually bankrupt.

The Liberals have always been big tent. They'll pull soft-blue voters like they always have.

I think a collapse is coming. I said this before, who are they going to get after Harper? Kenny? The Tories gave it there all to win one last election, but when the next election rolls around, I think people will realize in retrospect what a vile party it was and what they resorted to. Often I wonder how people in the future will berate us for our "barbaric" ways, and I think the CPC is one of things they will point to. Maybe I am being too hopeful here, but I think by the next election the BQ will be finished and the NDP will be that "other" party aside from the Liberals.

Pretty amazing night. We kicked Steven Harper to the curb, We elected a strong Liberal Majority, and Tracey Ramsay, the NDP Candidate I voted for, beat the Conservatives who have won nonstop in my riding for 10 years straight.

I am perfectly happy with these results, WOOHOO

He's been doing that for his entire campaign and I really appreciate it. Defending Muslims is politically dangerous in the U.S. You have to walk on egg shells and choose your words carefully. I'm glad that Trudeau took a strong stance against Harper's hate and without dancing around with his wording. It's pushed the nation and political discourse away from where the U.S. is.

Now that I think about it, I really like Trudeau. He's campaigned well and has me sold on him, moreso than Mulcair. I prefer the NDP but I'd rather have Trudeau as Prime Minister.
I still wish it was a minority.
Couldn't agree more with this entire post.

Didn't realize we were all in the same riding. I've had his sign up front because I respect Davies and would like him to keep representing us in parliament. Happy he won.

I think the best option for the continued survival of the CPC is to hand the reigns to Progressive Conservatives. They exist provincially so they can pull their leader from there. The party is full of battered mules so it shouldn't be too hard to get them to follow.

I am happy too (other than the majority). I have an NDP MP and my city is a Conservative free zone! Take that, prairie shit talkers (Enter the Dragon Punch)!

Liberals took over Ottawa except for Poilievre's riding which he almost lost too. Pretty much the ideal result within expectations. Im sad Paul Dewar lost though, that was a shock to me.

While he won, not to brag to my fellow Canucks, but I got to vote AGAINST that piece of garbage Harper in his own riding!

It was the most satisfying moment of my adult life since I discovered wine 5 years ago.

Edit: He won his riding. For clarification. He didn't win this country!

Nice. If he stays on as MP, you may even be able to vote his fat racist ass out!

edit: Holy crap. This thread was on like page 200 last night. It took us 2 and a half months to get there!

Hey, I was busy the last few hours, but good job Canada. This is absolutely the correct direction.

Filled with emotion right now. :')

Collapse? They're about to form official opposition, not dissolve into the ether.

The liberals formed official opposition after the 2006 election and then started to collapse until they reached the result they got in 2011.The same thing is possible for the Conservatives.

The NDP is eating seats for lunch now. They are at 44 seats now.The conservatives are back to were they started in 2004.Ouch.

Cons dipped to 99 right before CBC commercial break........ sub-100!

What's the difference between a broken clock and a totally fucking bonkers clock?

Technically a bonkers clock could never be right, or could be right relatively frequently. Only a broken clock is guaranteed to be right exactly twice a day.

Apropos of nothing, the CBC result viewer is awful. Caching problems like crazy.

The CPC isn't going to collapse. Where they are at now is their base of support. At best they stay the same at the next election, to the benefit of the LPC.

It is really fun to watch the little +1 -1's going on. Just glanced over and saw 99 before being sold on this sick acorn stair lift machine. Tiny changes in the prairies are good - little victories, slow change, hopefully. Just gotta keep moving that direction.

I believe that riding you're seeing flip back and forth is Kootenay-Columbia. Very few votes between the Tories and NDP there.

I have Burnaby South and Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon as undeclared still as well.
