My biggest problem with Uber is that not all their taxis can carry wheelchairs and not all are accessible. I've heard a lot of horror stories about drivers not helping people on wheelchairs put their wheelchairs in the trunk and leaving deaf/blind people out in the cold. Not to mention a host of other disabilities that I can't think of. There has to be a law that says if you're going to be an Uber driver, your car has to be accessible for most everyone. People with disabilities shouldn't have to play guessing games about who's okay with their certain disabilities and who isn't.

And they don't take Wheel-Trans.

And they don't take Wheel-Trans.
Don't know how WheelTrans in Toronto works. In York Region you have to schedule your Mobility Plus travel a day in advance.

Edit: I remember in Toronto you also had to book I'm advance. I remember my mom waiting for hours for the Wheel-Trans to come after my sister's dialysis finished.

This won't happen often, but I (partly) agree with gutter_trash here.

NPD never had a huge base in Quebec before last election. In 2011, the sudden orange wave was a way to try to out Harper by playing by the federal rules. It didn't pan out, and as people progressively realized that, once again, it wouldn't work, the polls started to spread across all parties until the last day were people massively backed to party that had the most chance to out Harper.
mon amour

Actually, I just checked, and the Conservative vote didn't budge at all in Quebec this election (16.5% in 2011, 16.7% in 2015). The Bloc Quebecois vote actually went down (23.4% to 19.5%).

What happened was that Quebec, just like the rest of the country, rode the Liberal wave, and this split the vote in a lot of ridings where the NDP dominated, allowing Conservatives and Bloc to come out ahead.

That's FPTP for ya, fellas.
Shhhh don't let facts get in the way of anti-Québec big bad racists rhetoric!

You're right. Liberals took most of them. That's weird because it was definitely the niqab that killed the NDP.
And you know this, how?

Gutter_trash has the right of it. The NDP was only ever strong in Québec in 2011 and it was because of Jack.

Nope, official transition will be Nov 4.
Le ts'quat' novembre au soir!

Albertans lost their minds on that interview hhahahhaha

But get ready for Saskatchewan to become to more annoying Province, more anoying than Alberta

Is that really both?

Really both. It's the new controller with the headphone jack, too.

Fuck that's a good deal

Thanks Obama Trudeau

Thanks I ordered one. What are the chances they honor it?

Whoa, thanks. Hopefully it goes through.

People have already been charged, and my order went through. They know about it and aren't actively changing it. I think it's intentional.

Damn, I guess we know who Eidos Montreal voted for. Someone should tweet it to the official Deus Ex account.

LOL! This is probably the funniest article I've ever read: http://failmuch.com/harper-suggests-republic-of-western-canada-separates-from-canada/

Harper suggests “Republic of Western Canada” could separate from Canada.
Harper Republic of Western Canada 2

A defiant Stephen Harper has refused to stand down as leader of the Conservative Party, and instead, signalled his intent to move the party to a new breakaway state, known as the Republic of Western Canada.

Speaking in the immediate aftermath of the election results, Harper appeared to suggest he would resign as Conservative leader following the landslide loss.

However during Justin Trudeau’s victory speech, “The Wolf of Sussex Drive” stormed back onto the stage in his native Calgary to dismiss rumours of his reported retirement and make the shocking announcement:

“Now is not the time to rest,” he said to rapturous applause. “Now more than ever, Canada needs traditional values and realistic goals. Which is why I’m proposing Western Canada separates itself from our Ontarian and Québécois rulers. I would like to formally announce my candidacy to become the first Prime Minister of Western Canada.”

Displaying a surprising level of foresight, the defeated leader revealed discussions are already underway with a leading Republican candidate in the US:

“As the leader of the new Republic I look forward to building a long fruitful relationship with our neighbours in the US, once President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in. We’re already working on plans to create thousands of new jobs for Canadians by building a wall between West and East Canada.” – Stephen Harper.
Despite the Liberal party claiming a majority government, in Alberta, the Conservatives won an overwhelming majority, suggesting Albertans have little faith in Trudeau.

“The Republic of Western Canada has a difficult decision ahead,” the outgoing PM said. “When I meet average, everyday Canadians, they tell me they’re tired of the East deciding the future of Canada. I believe it’s time for the West to rise up and break away from our oppressors. Vancouver can stay in Canada however. Once again, those pot-smoking hippies have let the west down.”

When asked what a Western Republic would mean for the region’s First Nations population, Harper said: “We need to keep Canada for Canadians. Our ancestors didn’t steal this land, just to see it stolen from us. So, as a peace offering to the indigenous people of Canada, we would like to offer them Vancouver Island. Feel free to do with it what you will.”

Gilles Duceppe, Leader of Bloc Québécois, dismissed Harper’s plans, saying: “What a ridiculous idea. Why would anyone want to leave this great country?”

The Republic of Western Canada Facebook group has already amassed almost 50 members, suggesting a potential uprising is inevitable.

Alright, so my predictions that I can recall were:

✓ Liberals would win
✖ A Minority
✓ Mulcair wouldn't resign
✓ Mulcair would win Outremont
✖ Harper wouldn't resign
✖ Turnout around 60% (68%)
✖ Edmonton Centre would go NDP (first prediction)
✖ Edmonton Centre would go CPC due to vote split (second prediction from last day of polling)
✖ The Bloc wouldn't gain seats (though the fact they did it on splits and not on an increase in vote % makes me happy enough when we're in a majority)
✖ NDP efficiency would be surprisingly good.
✓ CPC efficiency would be surprisingly bad.
✓ Liberal efficiency would be surprisingly good.

Not a great night for my predictions, heh.

So 308 was quite wrong. Of course next election no one will remember this and people will continue to cite 308 projections like gospel.

It's the same problem we've had over and over again where the polls dramatically shift in the last day and it's hard to know what to do with that. Sometimes that momentum settles (Alberta 2015) and sometimes it keeps going dramatically (Alberta 2012, this election).

Incidentally, apparently Forum was the closest pollster in their final regional breakdown heh.

Pretty sad that the Conservatives presented a bigoted campaign and a platform devoid of compelling ideas and they only lost around 250k votes.

The conservative vote especially in BC was super ineffiecent which is crazy.I just noticed this. Depsite being in second place in popular support in that province this election they won less seats than the NDP which is crazy. The NDP vote was super efficient in BC.

That just tells me that over 5 million Canadians were receptive to the Conservatives bigotry and lack of compelling ideas.
Now I can stop being ashamed of my country and instead only be ashamed of my province.
Baby steps. At this rate, in a decade you'll only be ashamed of your city.

all the prediction sites were way off, TooCloseToCall was worse

the Journal De Montreal's prediction guy "Le Calucul" was the worst of the bunch

It's inherently much harder to predict races with so many parties. Nate Silver et al. just have to balance the GOP and the Democrats, generally (and the US political setup has things like party registration in most states, which is really useful for pollsters in terms of getting a sense of an electorate's partisan makeup).

Bloc Quebecois support dropped by 1.4% and as a result they gained 6 seats. FPTP FTW.

Bloc Québécois Leader Gilles Duceppe puts off decision about his future
Duceppe said strategic voting was likely a factor in the Bloc's struggles, with Quebecers looking to oust Stephen Harper's Conservatives from power.

The Bloc more than doubled the seats it had in 2011, but it wasn't enough to make the night a success.

Duceppe didn't win back his riding of Laurier-Sainte-Marie — once again losing to the NDP's Hélène Laverdière.

With only 10 seats, the Bloc doesn't have official party status.

That means it will have next to no resources and few opportunities to stand during question period.

Duceppe, an MP for 21 years and leader of the Bloc for 14, resigned after the dire 2011 election results — when the party was reduced to just four seats from 47 at dissolution.

The party had further struggles in the period since, with two MPs defecting and new leader Mario Beaulieu failing to gain traction in the province.

Eh, it had only 4 in 2011 and now it has 10, not sure what you're trying to say.

Ah the Bloc, the party that just won't die. Though credit where credits due, at times they were the "third" party in terms of seat count. That both baffles me and causes me to laugh.
