I knew they had royally messed up when they started hiring Americans.

For me, it was the moment I realized that they refused to show 2077 running on console pre-release. That glaring omission made me pull my preorder. And I'm proud to say I avoided the debacle that was 2077 based on that.

If a publisher / studio is releasing a game on console but refuses to show you said game running on console... Run for the hills.
