Dudes. I've never seen an ACL lineup this impressive, and most of them are performing both weekends. I thought only SXSW was two weekends, now ACL is too. Crazy
Emimem, Lorde, and Skrillex alone are a sell for me.

Looks simply ridiculous. I may actually have to try to go this year and say screw it.
We bought the early bird passes for Weekend 1. Feel cheated, frankly, that they're having a very high level artist on only 1 weekend. It's counter to what they've said in the past and there was no warning given it may happen.

I'm honestly not that into the lineup this year, Beck is the only one I'm looking forward to. We have tickets to both weekends, but will most likely only go on the 2nd and sell the others.
I don't really mind too much although I do like the Lorde album. Mostly it's a principle thing.. seems really shady to me. Obviously they're doing it because Week 1 sold out while Week 2 did not last year, but it doesn't make it any less obnoxious. Bummed we won't get to hang this year though!

I didn't know it was releasing in April. I thought May. Did Durante undo the lighting engine nerf yet? I'll be all over that stuff eventually, probably when Austin's nuclear winter hits in 1.5 months. Currently I'm all about prepping for astrophotography but hoping not to fall into this rabbit hole, finishing P90X3, exploring Austin with my woman, and somehow creme fraiche.
Sort of not gaming as much. But I figure it's for the best with 28nm and $1500 GPUs with frame stutter. The good shit comes out Q3 2014-Q4 2017 if previous generations are a guide.

That's worth the price alone! They really upped the beer game in recent years with a massive beer tent with a ton of craft beers. There's definitely no shortage of photo ops and even if you only really like 1 or 2 artists per day, you've paid for your ticket price from that alone most likely. It's a great value and a lot of fun.If it helps you understand, my favorite composer/band/biebs is Tchaikovsky. I mostly want to go to ACL to drink and take pictures.

Unfortunately the stuff I built at work won't be beaten by OEMs like Dell until 2017. It's because Intel is increasing IPC (Instructions Per Clock Cycle - ie how fast something is at a given frequency like 3.5 GHz) by ~5% per year. I overclocked stuff in 2011 by 40%. So it takes a while. I'm also pushing to get stuff into enterprise class stuff with virtualization because overtime I'm going to need like 32 cores per software teams build with GNU Make parallelism. So while it's 30% slower than overclocked CPUs, it's all in parallel so it's like 5x faster overall.
I can help you choose something. Just send me a message and I'll review it.
I suspect sometime around 2020-2025 someone is going to come out with Silicon+Graphene hybrid CPUs that are like 3-5x faster immediately. Then will come mostly graphene and literally Moore's law of performance (not necessarily transistor count) will reset to 1985. I'm very excited about this possibility to the point that people are reminded of me when they see an article with Graphene and I don't even remember talking to them about it.

Yeah, I did a bad job coordinating. I didn't see you either. Did you at least get a haircut or something? I spent most of my time on Turtles, Simpsons, Batman, and Mario Kart. We had good times with weapons.

I did get a haircut... 3 months ago. We were mostly hanging out in the retro area in that nook on the other side of the glass at the entrance. My wife had a death-grip on the Galaga cab. She set the second highest score of the day too.

And yeah, we'll need come up with a meeting place for future gatherings. Or maybe some CTX GAF t-shirts so we can look like REAL elitist jerks.

I would be up for E3 meetup. Pinballz was much more crowded than the meetup last year. It really feels like an Arcade from the 1990s now. But the pitfall is that it's hard to meetup larger groups of people.

I agree. Zero Spring this year. Or at least it's looking like that will be the case. My wife and I decided to drop by the Waco zoo while visiting family today and it was miserable after noon.
