CFB Offseason 2014: The Spartans End a B1G Case of Wiscy Dick, Cold Pizza for Victims

A&M had another lineman that would of gone high in the first round if he declared; they're actually pretty well stocked even with all the draftees the last 2 years. And while I don't see them in top of Bama/Auburn/LSU, if they upset 2 of them they're in. Their SOS is that strong, which is what limits some of the non top 16 candidates.

Assuming they win all other games, that would still probably only be good enough for 2nd best in the SEC west. You would have to assume the SEC west winner would also get in. Perhaps the SEC east winner ( especially if they upset the SEC west winner in the SECCG ) so that leaves one spot open for a team in another power conference to go to the playoffs.

Is this how you see the inaugural bracket looking?

1. SECCG winner
4. SEC West 2nd place

2. Power conference undefeated team
3. SEC East winner

Not sure I want to see the day when 3 out of 4 playoff teams are SEC.

I don't think it's unrealistic to see 2, but 3 would be absurd, and (if it's merited) an indictment of all the other conferences. You'd think that between the PAC-12, Big 14, Big X, and the ACC, 2 schools could get into the top 4, preferably more.

You're not going to see 3 teams from the SEC in the playoffs. Hopefully you get the winner of the conference and the runner-up.

The bolded makes me smile.

Tennessee Man makes me wonder if we should change the G/A/F thing to just be F/T.

you sure you should be smiling? Alabama will still have plenty of talent in 2015. Maybe if you guys had held off till next decade, then who knows, Alabama might revert back to pre-saban power. Tough Luck Bro.

Tennessee's shenanigans are largely unreported on GAF outside of this thread, it seems. Or maybe they're just being suppressed by a particular biased mod

USCe last played at Alabama in 2009.

Won't return till 2024 (USCe gets home game vs. Alabama "back to back", albeit 9 years apart)

Hello, Rutgers. Big Ten Network has reached deals with Time Warner Cable and Cablevision in NYC/NJ. http://www.nj.com/rutgersbasketball...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Meanwhile in Los Angeles we still don't have the Pac-12 Network on DirecTV or the new Dodgers network. Its like they want me to become an alcoholic!

You could, but the only song they know how to play is Rocky Top, so all you really need for that is a CD player.

The USC band supposedly only knows like 3 songs, and people still pay for them!

Wasn't saying it because of the talent, if anything that part will worry me since we'll have a new QB then and either Marshall will be our starting RB or maybe Chubb or Michel. Lot of uncertainties rhere.

No, I just welcome the game because it's a big game and I enjoy watching them.

I knew there was an uncanny resemblance to someone I knew of.

Three? Did they suddenly learn two new songs?

"This is the only song we know. It's boring and it's slow." etc

Come on, man. Tusk, Tribute to Troy, Fight On...

But as a Cal fan you probably just know Conquest, which is the "we just scored on you" song.

They do play "Fight On" after like every first down so it does get played a lot. I don't get tired of it though, and it annoys the hell out of opposing fans, so it works for me. I do recognize that if I wasn't a fan of USC I would be annoyed by it, though. I don't blame you guys.

Edit: that was a good burn though! I almost didn't notice since we've lost so much I'm kind of desensitized.
I almost felt bad about posting it, which is a sign that things are really dire in Cal country.

Everytime Bama gets a first down at home, a CGI Bear Bryant runs across the video screens before stopping and doing the crotch chop:

Tried to find an image of CGI Bryant doing it, but couldn't.

Well they have their fight song, the song they play after almost every play, and the song they play when they win (a rare occurrence these days).

I mean its a step up from UW who apparently know their fight song and Tequila. And I guess they figured out how to string together a couple of notes to sound like "Bow Down to Washington". Or the two UCs who play the same fight song or All Right Now. Or Stanford who somehow can't play a song to save their lives. Or the other 7 Pac 12 schools whose marching bands are apparently so non-descript that I can't think of anything about them! Seriously does anyone outside of Corvallis know anything about the Oregon State band? Does Colorado even have a band?

Tequila is all you need.

To erase the memory of that coach we had before Seven Win Steve.

Thankfully OSU has a pretty good free board, Orange Power.

Most of the info from the paid sites leaks there anyways.

However, their politics forum makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

If Orange Power would to go behind the pay wall would you join in? The Rutgers Rivals one has been doing q and a's with form players and I actually think its a billion times better than using the free board that's associated with that site.

Probably not, unless the fee were nominal. Like $20/year.

I'm sure the quality of the paid one would be better, but I simply don't care enough about recruiting and "inside the program" stuff to pony up.

Wut?

I am subscribed to our 247 site but not paying for it. Every time I try to quit they throw free time at me.

Dunno, I've never tried to quit!

Plus, the Seattle Times website is behind a paywall now, so I'd rather give Scout my money than the Times.
