Been watching the rocket explosion, but lololol

Alabama plays 2 of those later on, so if we win out, we're in, right?

Notre Dame at fucking 10? Really?

Where should they be when they have 0 wins over teams ranked in the committee's Top 25 and every other 1-loss team not named Nebraska and Ohio St has at least one?

Ole Miss is getting credit for a quality loss to LSU while LSU does not get credit for playing three of the four current playoff teams.

That has been the case since your loss to Ole Miss. SEC W winner gets in no matter what. SEC E winner gets in if they sneak a win in the SECCG

Ah, but Alabama can win out, but if ole miss doesn't lose again, I believe they go to Atlanta. Hoping that the current selections show that conference isnt the end all be all rule.

Golden Domers are chickenshit!!
compared to who's schedule? Anyone who plays an FCS team has no leg to stand on.

I still don't understand why they threw the BCS out. They just needed to take the top 4 BCS teams and seed them 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 in the playoff.
This is what I was hoping they would do, too.

Both ECU and UCF need to win out until the season finale Dec. 4th. With the committee basically calling out Marshall for their schedule, I feel confident UCF could make an access bowl if warranted.

Still have to watch Boise, Colorado St., though.

I kind of wish they'd do a first four or five out too.

eh I suppose for now it's not the worst thing in the world, especially cause Notre Dame is closer to where they should be

if it doesn't clear out over the next few weeks, however...

But we're looking at this moment. So at this moment KSU has a better resume than ND.

If you're just going by current wins, then absolutely. Kansas State's loss is slightly worse than Notre Dame's, though (and I believe it was neutral site?)

It really doesn't matter at this point. It will work itself out. 5-10 isn't the problem with these rankings.

How much credit do you want LSU to get when they not only lost to Auburn, but got totally pantsed by them as well, 41-7.

This is what I was hoping they would do, too.

It's really stupid. They took how many years to "perfect" the BCS. All they're doing is taking the +1 game and making people who played each other in two already established bowl games play. The fact that the committee is made up of only 12 people who have obvious biases is beyond stupid. The whole point of the BCS was to diminish bias...and it eventually did a pretty damn good job.

When they can turn around and out-muscle Ole Miss' #1 ranked defense and win despite losing the turnover battle 4-1? And lose to Miss St by a score? Yeah, I'd give them credit over someone like Ohio St, who hasn't played a single ranked team yet (or even one close to being ranked).

You know how I think mid-season poll discussion is stupid, but it's pretty refreshing hearing rationale from a single voice.

Per my boy, Stewart Mandel:
Jeff Long says gap between Ole Miss, Oregon and Alabama is “paper thin."

Long: "Arizona, while they did beat Oregon, the rest of their body of work is not as strong."

Long: "Baylor has not had a strong schedule outside its win over TCU .. head to head important, but there are other factors. Not h2h alone."

Long on Marshall: "We looked at their schedule against others, did not think it was worthy of being placed in Top 25 at this time."

Long: "We certainly discussed the offensive lineman that was injured at Oregon."

Long mentions that Condi (or "she," as he said) was questioning why a certain team's defense was rushing three, dropping 8 on a big play.

This (and LSU having 2 losses) is why I thought they might put Alabama above Ole Miss.

Alabama lost on the road (1 score game) against a better team than Ole Miss lost on the road team.

Also hope Alabama got the injury exclusion that Oregon got. Losing a Center and a gruesome injury to a RB in the middle of a tough road loss had to effect the outcome as much as Oregon's O-line injuries, right?

the fact of the matter is that LSU has 2 losses, one of which was a complete and utter embarrassment. Losing to Auburn 41-7 is a far worse loss than OSU's loss to VA Tech even though VA Tech is God awful.

LSU wasn't even close to being competitive against Auburn.

It will clear out on Saturday. #3 and 4 play each other. One of them will be done.

Losing badly to a Top 4 team on the road is worse than losing by multiple scores to a team at the bottom of the standings in the bad ACC division? We're going to have to agree to disagree here.

I think 3 SEC teams can still get in IF Georgia wins out including the SEC-CG.

So lets say Alabama wins out and Ole Miss wins the egg bowl. That would mean 11-1 Miss v. 11-1 jaw jaw. Ole Miss will be #1 at this time because they beat a then 10-1 Miss St. in the Egg Bowl ( Miss St's loss was to 11-1 Bama). Rankings before the CCG may look something like 1. Ole Miss 2. FSU 3. Bama 4. Oregon 5. Georgia.

Georgia (12-1) def. Ole Miss (11-2) in the CCG. Bama is sitting at home with an impressive 11-1 record.

Final playoff selection
1. FSU 13-0
2. Georgia 12-1
3. Bama 11-1
4. Ole Miss 11-2

5. Oregon 12-1
6. Miss St. 10-2
7. Notre Dame 11-1
8. TCU 11-1

And there you have it, the doomsday scenario of 2014

Don't see a way a one-loss Oregon is kept out.

I can see plenty of scenarios for a one-loss Michigan State to be kept out but not Oregon.

There were no positives to take away from getting blown out like that. I'd rather lose close to a middling team than get beaten by almost 5 touchdowns to a divisional rival.

2-loss Ole Miss over 1-loss Oregon? When Oregon's lone loss is to the team that's #12 in the current playoff poll?

Yeah they have 2 losses, but the round table argument would be ( They won the SEC-West, the most difficult division in all of college football). Given the fact 3 SEC-W are in the first playoff bracket released by the committee, I don't think its that far fetched this could be their reasoning.

Yep.

Seriously, will winning a CC in the B1G or Big XII magically boost a team up to overtake a 2nd SEC team already in the top 4?

Yeah, probably. Sigh.

Are you seriously getting outraged over a hypothetical? Much less one that involves Oregon?

Not getting outraged, just asking why he had that there. Could have expressed that better.

You Nike fans should be thanking me for even asking the question!

College football would be better if there were no rankings at all until halfway through the season. The preseason rankings pretty much limit how far a team can go.

There was for us, we benched Harris and put Jennings back in lol. People here in Baton Rouge were questioning if we'd even make a bowl game after that loss. Now we've gone on a 3-game win streak, including one over #4.

Harris is definitely going to be better in the future, but to have a true freshman make his first start @Auburn was a mistake. Jennings is not good either, but he at least knows the playbook.

That's not true. Miss St. went from unranked to #1 in record time. The way to accomplish this is to be in a perceived loaded conference so if you do win your game, you'll be vaulted towards the top. Don't get me wrong, Miss. St had 3 big wins in a row ( well, in retrospect it was 2 but that doesn't matter now apparently ) to shoot to the top. The problem is the fact the teams they beat didn't drop proportionately because of their perceived strength.

lol I saw this pointed out on another board. If LSU was ranked #1 and the rest of the playoff spots were bumped down 1.

1. LSU
2. Miss St.
3. FSU
4. Auburn
5. Ole Miss

While I agree with the sentiment - polls are stupid - I call bullshit on the result. Auburn went from like 23 to the national title.

The biggest joke has to be UCLA at #22. They aren't any good. I think Auburn isn't that good either, but their schedule will take care of it and drop them where they belong

LOOOOL at people who thought ND would get in ahead of us "because of TV ratingz."

Hate to sound like a dickhole but I told you so.

Double-LOL at thinking 11-2 Ole Miss gets in over 12-1 Oregon. In what weird fantasy world does that happen? If we win out, we're in. That's just the reality occurring here on earth.
