Charlie Hebdo attacks - Hostage situations ended, 4 hostages reportedly killed

Just heard the phone conversation between BFMTV, Coulibaly and one of the Kouachi brothers. That's weird as fuck, the terrorists just casually answered the questions like it was nothing.

Right? Like it was the weather or something.

It was so disturbing because they talk like regular people over here.

Since they where trained in Yemen , I think the world including moderate Muslim countries should cooperate against extreme Islamic ideologies from Religious political group up to Al Qaida and ISIS.
Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Libya all are torn between various religious groups and political parties that are armed to the teeth. The more this issues prevails the more the world will face attack as what happened in Paris.

These have been three nerve wracking days and honestly, GAF helped me stay sane, even when some stuff irritated me. Overall, you've been awesome, thanks guys.

Stay strong and safe, FranceGAF.

I'll be there if I manage to let go of my daughter.

As French citizen who strongly believe in the values of my country, coming from a moroccan jewish family I can tell you that I feel much closer to those who not only tolerate but actually accepts and embrace other cultures and faiths wherever they come from than to anyone who at first glance would be of my own.
Speaking of Sephardim (he jokes about that), Timsit was on Patrick Cohen's radio show this morning and he was great, discussing his jokes, where he puts his own limits, how he manages an audience's expectations, these kinds of things. That was a much needed and apropos comic relief.

Thanks. Hopefully we'll have a translation of this soon.

He refutes the fact that they killed civilians. the staff of CH was not civilians, they were targets. they did not come to kill women and children, but that is what westerners have been doing in afghanistan, iraq, and syria. prob has a point tbh...

amedy says they prepared the attacks together (with the brothers) but they are currently not in contact

You see them drag a specialist out :(
Such an awful situation. My heart goes out to all of France.

Thanks for the link. Anyone with an understanding of how such police raids are organised can chime in? I see that in the beginning of the vid most of the SWAT team hides behind an armored truck which rides very slowly to the front of the shop and then all hell breaks loose. I'm just hoping that when Coulibali saw the first signs of the armored truck closing in that he didn't kill any hostages because he knew the attack was coming very soon.

Where did the source for the 4 reported dead hostages come from? ABC news makes it seem like no one died.

There are 4 dead hostages, but it seem none of them died during the assault itself, they were killed earlier by the terrorist. That may be the confusion.

How about the people that were tweeting #killallMuslims?

No offense, but playing Devils advocate here isn't the same. Naturally, as a terrorist attack unfolded you had anger and outrage and the hashtag was created out of it. But as it picked up steam, people found that more of the hashtag use was to speak out against the tag itself.

This hashtag is brought up solely as a troll/sympathy with terrorists, though I'm sure is also being used by people speaking out against it. While both are incendiary and inflammatory, surely you can see the difference behind them? Not saying either are right mind you, and both should be rightfully condemned.

Moderate Muslim countries being who? The World has tries to stop AQ for more than a decade. You have a coalition of 60 countries including Arabs signed up to help in the war against IS.

Dropping bombs, sending drones to kill people and propping up tyrants does not work.

"I was financed by Cheich X"
"How long ago?"
"Uh... it's been a while. Before he was killed"

Idiot

Guys go do a terrorist attack, leave ID card in the car they abandon. Guy calls journalist, leaves the phone up for the police to hear what's going on in the convenience store.

These guys weren't the brightest of the bunch, and thankfully so.

There are countries that started a counter theoretical and physical prosecution of extremist mentalities, you might not agree with these countries in their laws or freedom but for sure they won't be plotting attacks and training militias to send around the world.

Woah, I just saw the assault filmed from the front on TV... the policeman who enters the shop first, all alone, while the others stay behind... big cojones here.

What would that achieve? The largest state sponsor and funder of terrorism is Saudi Arabia. The US conveniently overlooks this fact. It's also the most repressive of the Muslim majority nations. Also, moderate Muslim countries are Turkey, Indonesia etc. What would they achieve being mired in this stuff when they probably have enough trouble keeping the hardliners and fundamentalists in their own countries down. This is something that will not go away. People like to say it's because of the West etc. Places like India, China, Russia, and a ton of non-middle eastern countries all deal with their own Islamic extremism as well.

I saw that too, looks like one of them goes down as well, near the left of the doorway.

Did the woman get away or what? CNN still insists she got way but I read earlier in the thread that she did not.

Guy that enters alone with a shield has balls of steel. Also, does the video stop because the hostage that is getting out gets shot?
Edit: ah i see.

Not sure how Frances does its health care, but I hope they get good care. Being in that situation can't be good for one's mental health, to say the least.

I'm not sure if you're serious and how off-topic you are. France is famous for its health care.

There was no woman in the convenience store. They only mentioned her because she's the girl of the terrorist and he used her car, which was parked in front of the Hyper Kasher.

That's because as much even though the media portray all terrorists as some kind of animal by trying to dehumanize them, at the end of the day these guys were just ordinary people who either had nothing, had everything taken away from them and used that as a basis for hate or became radiicalised.

It's a harsh reality, but dehumanising them just removes the need to ask why they did this in the first place. Yes they were following an extremist version of Islam, but something drove them in the first place to do this. Humanity has done some terrible, awful things to people and we seem happy a lot of the time to remember what happened, but ignore the root cause of the problem in the first place.

Rather than spending years attacking terrorist organisations, which does nothing but strengthen their causse we should take a closer look at improving peoples lives worldwide to weaken their ability to recruit people.
