To be honest, no. The group in question will happily cancel/ruin your life w/o a second thought if they believe it supports their cause; it's instinctual emotional manipulation on their part. Then they'll cry victim and ask why the people's lives they spent years destroying aren't acting on the correct philosophical principles (which they themselves despise)? It's the same logic when a politician who wants strict gun control or no stand your ground laws also has tax-payer funded, armed security.

My internet brainrot went straight to that and if he didn't manage to find a way to post about his trans roommate since the arrest I might even believe it. Not even the worst case of internet brainrot for me today though. If I hear a British accent saying Charlie I instantly hear Charlie bit my finger so a large group of Brits chanting Charlie made me realize I am too far down the internet brainrot trail :messenger_dizzy:

I had a couple people at work show me those terrible AI generated pictures of the shooter several hours after they released information about the real shooter. They looked confused when I told them, convinced their AI generated picture was authentic. These are college educated people. God help us all

Yeah. I think the motivation has importance, but in the end it's just one radical who isn't representative of a larger group. The issue is when you get a ton of people who actually openly celebrate and enjoy the assassination and think that a person deserves death for voicing his opinions. That's when you understand that there's a problem on a much larger scale that needs to be focused on too.

I'm happy that my country doesn't have the polarization of USA, it might have to do with us having multiple political parties so there isn't the same level of black and white thinking and tribalism. And the extremists end up "contained" in smaller less powerful parties. But it's a complex subject.

And we have no idea if this trans roommate thing is even true, and if it was, if that had anything to do with him shooting Charlie.

What happened yesterday, happens everyday. Media is afraid of reality and tries to confuse their audience, then there's an entire network that will spread their lies under the banner of credibility.
We went from fox news makes shit up to stir up their bases, to having a worldwide network of liars 24/7 pushing falsehoods and hiding information from the populace to advance political causes.

You're really stretching in my opinion. For example "mass shootings in general" is an obvious straw man because not all of these horrible crimes are politically motivated.

Sniper assassination has a very specific historical significance and cultural symbolism. Everyone knows this.

This is not an act of protest or defiance, it is public execution which is a very singular type of crime.

Add to this a scenario wherein the victim's only noteworthy attribute is their public political activism, hence the natural starting point of any observation or investigation is the belief that the crime was politically motivated.

I'm not saying that there aren't deranged, bad-actors on both side of the aisle. The issue here is that this particular assassination and the reactions to it have come along at a very specific point in time where its impact really exposes massive divisions within society and culture.

My sense is that this has been a direct-hit on a massive fault-line, it feels genuinely momentous to me in a way that I haven't felt since 9/11.

I honestly hope I'm wrong, but given the unrest of the previous few years I'm not optimistic that it won't prove to be a tipping point.

I have worked with them. Go to the theater here and they take tickets and get snacks. I am respectful if I know they want ma'am I will say it. But I see them all over even in the south.

The roommate is cooperating, the suspect is not.

 
A mentality of 'war on trans' is not appropriate. 'Trans' is a symptom, not the cause. The left enabling, encouraging and weaponising mental illness for their own political ends is the cause which needs to be addressed. They are victims of the left who need help escaping a dangerous delusion they have been tricked into believing is reality. The left does not give a single fuck about them beyond how they can be useful in destabilising society.

I think we will see pseudo-accomplices / encouragers arrested from wherever he was hanging out online. This will get us into some pretty interesting First Amendment territory.
