Christopher Dring - "Xbox not even on store shelves in certain parts of the world"

How did anyone using the xbox platform want this? We wanted a healthy platform and eco system which xbox nailed on all fronts apart from rhe most important.

They didn't have games like last of us. Astro bot. Spider man etc that gains excitement and high metacritic scores to drive fans to feel excited about the platform.

There's tens of millions who enjoy gamepass and xbox games which is proven by sales on all platforms. They just didn't have the 92 plus metacritic games and that holds a lot of weight in today's world.

Exactly this

For many people it's those big Metacritic darlings that get them to go out and buy a console.

When was the last time an Xbox console had an exclusive like that, Gears of War 2?

How is xbox games/console stock in your part of the world?

In the UK it's seems both are stocked but at low levels.

In Dallas, TX, in my experience both PS and Xbox games sections are ghost towns while Switch is stocked and typically 2-3 times as large as the other two. This started happening maybe a couple of years ago.

Hardwire wise kind of the same situation. Loads of Switch consoles of all types, barely anything for Xbox or PS. I guess because of numbers, we know PS hardware is selling, Xbox hardware just isn't coming in.

Software in general is kind of going through what I saw with DVD and CD media.

No way they can increase the price of GP this year. That has to be a 2026 thing. You can't raise the price of the console, games, and subscription service in the same year.
As if 2026 would make any difference, rising prices will piss off consumers no matter the day/week/year 🤷‍♂️

Don't think they will, but if they need to, there is no "sensitive time" to do so

Excusing everything Xbox ever did wrong, being deliberately blind to anything bad happening and shifting the blame to everyone else instead (mostly Sony, which by the way you are also doing right now) and viewing Phil and gamepass as a Prophet that can do no wrong. All these things directly led to the current situation, maybe it would have turned out different had some of you tried to hold them accountable for their failures and ask for more all these years. In the end, you reap what you sow.
This is silly. Please dont lump people who play all platforms and enjoy games and chose xbox as their platform from 360 to other crazy fanboys (which exist for all companies) who only play one console and devote their entire gaming existence to that platform.

Ive said it multiple times but i have always played all platforms. I just chose poorly, many would say on where i chose to build the majority of my console library. ( i have shit loads of games across all platforms) but my preference from 360 was xbox and their online / controller.

yes, i do find myself feeling like i need to defend MS for the things they've done right. But, it doesn't make it hard to not like them for what they've done wrong. Hired that potato marketing guy. Green turd or whatever his name is.

Anyway. Ill Just leave it at that. Ill always be a fan of what xbox did with the og xbox and 360. They had some good games on xbox one but that console was an embarassment and when they finally had great hatdware in series x and spoilt it with a poor launch line up and pretty much a shit first couple of years of releases.

The series S was a great idea but they skimped out on memory and fucked that console up too.

This so much. They haven't had a game that shuts up the haters and makes the industry focus on them for a long, long time. No one to blame but themselves for that.

We thought acquiring Bethesda would give them that, instead they did the opposite and went fully third party.

A change of strategy all due to the Starfield flop.

In hindsight, Starfield is one of the most important games of all time, the entire future of Microsoft gaming was hanging on it.

I went to a big electronics store here in Portugal and there was a single Xbox console in the bottom shelf of a Nintendo display unit. There were about 10 games next to the Switch games.

Well done for listing evergreen multiplayer games.
It's curious how none of those evergreen games aren't made by Sony, isn't it? Not even one. 🤷‍♂️

No ones cares about ExBox, it's dead, let it go.
That's not true RG. You are obsessed by Xbox.

it's dead, let it go.

There is a store on one of the "gaming store sites" here that have 3 shelves: one full blue for PlayStation, one full red for Nintendo and one green for Xbox. Today they use the green shelve to sell board games.

Wonderful job Microsoft. You should name the next console Xbox-Infinite and abandon it in a year with only store prices increases.

Oh yeah! Probably $12.99 for Core, $17.99 for Standard and $22.99 for Real GamePass
I'm guessing more like $24.99 for the Real Gamepass. There's way too much overhead on all of these 1st party games, plus the bags they're giving out to bring 3rd party games to Gamepass? Yeah, anything less than $24.99 isn't worth the inevitable anger and won't do shit for any potential profits (if they're even making any)

This is all part of the grandmaster strategy to take over all of gaming.

When common sense says you go left, you dig a hole and go diaganal right. When people say to market more, you instead make a more peripheials.

This is 5D Pachinko Laser Tag and Uncle Phil is fucking nailing it!

Stop your lying dude, i live in DFW.

Glad that I got my Series X with disc drive last week while there were still some remnants of stock out there.

Table Tennis is indeed an awesome game.

1) puts all eggs in gamepass basket
2) tells your declining userbase to not buy your games or hardware
3) they stop buying your products
4) retailers stop carrying your stuff
5) ???
6) profit

I bought a new series x as an upgrade for my s since I got a new TV in that room. Was looking for a few months early part of the year and it was actually pretty tough to get one, that wasn't from a scalper. Even the Microsoft store didn't have them. Lots of places would show them as in stock but when you add to basket you couldnt get it. Got one from smyths toys in the end luckily on the day they announced the price rise so got it at old price.
Not looked recently as no need but wouldn't surprise me if they are keeping stock levels very low.
