Mostly for Season 2. I think I distinctly remember Chuck losings huge chunks of viewers after breaks in the schedule. And yeah, the line up Chuck has to compete with is pretty brutal. Imagine if Chuck were going head to head against Outsourced.

I think it still had some pretty heavy advertising going into season 2. NBC still had a lot of faith in the show, illustrated by the fact they approved its back nine before a single episode had aired. Then they gave it a lot of advertising leading into season 3 during the NFL playoffs, which is the one thing on NBC that actually has viewers. And it worked for a while with Chuck having ratings about 30% better then what we have now (the demo was around 2.5-2.7 first the first few episodes on 3.0). Unfortunately the ratings continued to slightly decline throughout the first part of the season before plummeting during the week of daylight savings. DWtS started up the next week and Chuck never recovered, ending the season on a series low (like a 1.7 demo). Honestly, I think we are petty lucky to have received a season 4 and I don't really blame NBC for not pushing the show anymore. There is a core group of fans, but it doesn't seem able to retain anyone beyond that group.

I just recently got someone interested in Chuck. She's hooked! :lol

I'm going to agree with the general consensus of this thread and say it was just okay. It had some great moments, like the dual fight scene but not a whole stood out to me, especially after last weeks episode. It's Chuck though and regardless, it still makes me happy!

Action scenes were pretty good last night. No showcase creativity like we get every once in a while, but the dual fight was fun, the brawl in the cage was brutal, and Big Mike got to cattle-prod Stone Cold. I enjoyed them.

There's a conference call going on right now w/ Ellie and Awesome answering questions. Should be some writeups later. I guess next Monday will have a lot of Ellie/Awesome. Another new writer (Kristin Newman) for next week, too. She did some HIMYM and a lot of That 70's show back in the day.

I have pulled my weight and added a solid +9 to the core group.:lol There hasn't been a person I have talked into watching that show that hasn't enjoyed it and continued watching. It is just getting them to start.

In HIMYM, she wrote 2 episodes and received production credits for all episodes in season 2. That's a promising sign.

She wrote the episode where Barney and Ted argue about whether an architect can pick up chicks, which was a fantastic episode. I don't know if it was her idea, but that episode included the "Field of Dreams" argument.

- Deadline.com noting that NBC is mulling possible scheduling changes. They don't mention any Monday night adjustments in the article, but it sounds like NBC will take a close look at the numbers this week and decide if they need to switch things up a bit.

Cool. I've never seen any HIMYM, but that's good to hear she wrote one of the better episodes.

NBC is busy trying to hype up their Halloween episodes, so the full synopsis of 4.06, "Chuck vs. the Aisle of Terror" is out early. Solo will be at least partially happy based on one of the guest stars.

CHUCK’S DREAM OF FINDING HIS MOM MAY BE HIS WORST NIGHTMARE — LINDA HAMILTON, MORGAN FAIRCHILD AND ROBERT ENGLUND GUEST-STAR — When Chuck (Zachary Levi), Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski), Casey (Adam Baldwin), and Morgan (Joshua Gomez) are tasked to stop Dr. Stanley Wheelright (guest star Robert Englund, “Nightmare on Elm Street” films) from releasing a nightmare-inducing toxin, they’re also lead to question the allegiances of Chuck’s mom (guest star Linda Hamilton, “The Terminator”). Meanwhile, Jeff (Scott Krinsky) and Lester (Vik Sahay) use their unique sensibilities to celebrate Halloween at the Buy More, and Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) and Awesome (Ryan McPartlin) get a visit from Dr. Honey Woodcomb (guest star Morgan Fairchild). Bonita Friedericy and Mark Christopher Lawrence also star.

I thought that was a very average episode. I didn't laugh as much as I usually do. Jeffster were a big disappointment. However, Big Mike's return was fantastic.

I would prefer the OTHER one. "Why are you letting Sam Kenison and an indian lesbian ruin your wedding?" is like, the most awesome quote ever.

But this one will do.

I did say "partially" for a reason.

Contrary to most people, I thought this weeks episode was great and last weeks was just alright.

I kind of feel the same. I appreciate the situational humor as opposed to the forced jokes of the last episode. I don't know. It actually felt more like Chuck.

Jeffster was kinda crap yesterday.

Did Chuck really need to flash just to punch a guy in the face? "Oh, when a guy is trying to drag you down into a hole, you punch him. Thanks Intersect!" :lol

Okay episode, not as good as last week's. I enjoyed the nerd-bashing. Most gif-able moment was Stone Cold clocking Stacy Kiebler.

I thought this weeks was dreadful. :/ When Nicole Richie is the highlight of the episode, you know something is wrong. There was no excitement and barely any laughs. I was bored. For some reason, Zach Levi's acting ability or lack thereof is standing out much more for me. The dude has no range and the same bumbling facial expressions and delivery have been grating on me.

The ending is one of worst things i have ever seen too. As soon as the ring entered the picture, i was praying that wouldn't be the ending. This shows teen soap opera roots are so transparent sometimes. :lol

I don't know why the CIA doesn't try to recruit Big Mike. First the guy from Chuck vs the Gravitron and now Stone Cold

I can't exactly remember, but didn't he take someone out in vs. Santa Claus also?

Lester got kicked in face, Morgan did a sneak attack while camouflaged with the fake snow and then Big Mike and Awesome sandwiched the guy

Caught Monday's show on the DVR last night and thought it was a very average episode. It had some fun moments, but for the first time in a long time I felt like they were going through the motions and really didn't do much at all. Felt like the very definition of "filler" to me. Still enjoyed it, but wasn't as good as I expect Chuck to be on a regular basis.

- Richard Chamberlain is doing a guest appearance later this season
A bit of "Chuck" casting scoop: Richard Chamberlain will be appearing
in two episodes later this season (the eighth and ninth) as Adelbert De Smet, aka "The Belgian," described in the casting notes as "an international spy who's as elusive as he is ruthless. When he crosses paths with Operation Bartowski, he becomes one of Chuck's most dangerous foes yet."

Chamberlain fits the retro vibe of much of the show's guest-casting, as he was one of the biggest stars on television in the '70s and '80s, when he earned the nickname "King of the miniseries" for his work in projects like "Centennial," "Shogun" and "The Thorn Birds." And as a young actor in the '60s, he became famous as young "Dr. Kildare." He hasn't acted much lately, but did guest star on "Leverage" earlier this year.

Other upcoming "Chuck" guest stars include Timothy Dalton, Eric Roberts and, in a return engagement from last year,
Armand Assante.

Definite filler episode, but it wasn't bad by any means.

Nice to see recurring guest stars.

Nice to see Big Mike stickin it to Stone Cold.

The whole fake out proposal ring trick at the end seemed like it belonged in another show.

Without BIG FUCKING MIKE that would have been a poor episode. Some of the writing was woeful. You could see every single Chuck/Sarah discussion coming a mile off, every reply was 'oh god dont please' territory - 'herp derp' - *cringe*

I'm with you. I thought this week's episode was hilarious, and the relationship stuff wasn't nearly as bad as in the last episode.

The relationship content is still kind of annoying though, just feels way cheesy and forced. Back in season 2, Chuck and Sarah felt more like real people. The show sorts of feels like a cartoon now.

Still love the hell out of it, and it's better right now than during most of season 3 (heck, the season opener was fantastic), but there are these little nagging things that keep it from being great.

- Ausiello with a look at Timothy Dalton's appearance on Chuck *pic and brief comments via the link, spoilers*
Chuck boss Josh Schwartz wants to make one thing very clear about Timothy Dalton’s upcoming arc on the show: He’s not playing James Bond. Far from it, in fact.

“It’s not the kind of character you’d [expect] him to play,” Schwartz teases of the actor, who premieres in the Nov. 1 episode. “There’s nothing suave or debonair about him.”

Dalton’s alter ego shares a past with Chuck’s mom (Linda Hamilton), but Schwartz is reluctant to reveal the nature of their connection. “We want it to be a surprise,” he says.

Dalton is on board for a handful of episodes—a run that could be extended should NBC greenlight additional episodes of Chuck beyond the initial order of 13. Is Schwartz optimistic his underdog spy comedy will carry on? “NBC is really happy with it creatively,” he says. “This is Chuck. We never say die.”
