Man, Id like to think my schtick is a bit better than disagreements over questionable flights on a CW show :lol

That news just made my day. Especially so since I'm gonna miss it again tonight due to some theatre show I have to go see for school...

I'll probably catch it online when I come back since it's essentially the only way I can see it. Can't DVR, and no streaming in Canada. :(

Bring on Chuck versus the Christmas Tree!

A couple more takes on the extra episodes:

This isn’t a surprising development, even after the first week where Chuck was NBC’s second lowest-rated scripted show I still thought it would get a pickup for six episodes. Since then Chuck’s ratings have stayed about the same, but most of NBC’s other scripted shows have dropped, some significantly.

If we were of a gambling nature, we’d bet on an announcement after ratings are released tomorrow.

I hope that Ausiello is right, on BOTH counts. I want a back nine so that they can plan a real ending, and I want this to be the last season.

An extra nine would be awesome - and I had figured they might. I went ahead and purchased myself a show subscription on iTunes, which is priced as if the season were only 12 episodes long.

I also wonder how show subscriptions on iTunes and other places factor into ratings (if at all). In some ways it's almost like pre-purchasing a show before some episodes have even been filmed.

- NBC just picked up a few other shows
'Event,' 'LOLA,' 'Outsourced' land full seasons

Three freshman NBC series are getting full-season orders: The Event, Law & Order: Los Angeles and Outsourced are all getting nine more episodes.

The pickups are all shows produced by Universal Media Studios and represent NBC's first round of full-season orders.

"We are pleased with the quality of The Event, Law & Order: Los Angeles and Outsourced, and feel they are an important part of helping to re-build our schedule and our studio pipeline,” said Angela Bromstad, NBC's entertainment president . “We believe in these new series and the creative auspices behind them.”

NBC has not made a verdict for the Warner-Bros.-produced Chuck, Chase and Undercovers. Though the fate of Undercovers is in question, the other two -- especially Chuck -- are looking more promising.

That full-season pickup for Outsourced is really strange. 30 Rock, Community and The Office already had full seasons and NBC also has Parks & Recreation, Perfect Couples and The Paul Reiser Show waiting in the wings. At the upfronts, they said they wouldn't open a new comedy block...so when are their midseason comedies ever going to air?

I told myself I wasn't going to watch this show until everything was said and done with it. I don't think I could put myself through the nail-biting that goes into being a Chuck fan every week.

That said, starting the Pilot now. Wish me luck boys.

That has to be one of the worst analysis of Chuck's renewal status that I've ever read in a while, among other things mentioned in the article. The fact that he mentions The Good Wife's overall numbers and questions its cancellation projection shows how little he understands television ratings.

Chuck was obviously going to get the back nine, especially after how much The Event, Chase, Parenthood, and Undercovers dipped (not to mention Outlaw).

The most recent hour long ratings for NBC:

L&O: SVU - 2.3
The Event - 2.2
Parenthood - 2.0
LOLA - 1.9
Chuck - 1.9
Chase - 1.5
Undercovers - 1.4
Outlaw - 0.9 (F) (Canceled)

Avg - 1.7
Avg w/o Outlaw - 1.9

14.1

Chuck was in the middle of NBC's hour long ratings last week.

Now, if we're going to add the comedy block:

Community - 2.2
30 Rock - 3.1 (live episode, season average pre-live episode - 2.4)
The Office - 3.8
Outsourced - 2.6

Avg - 2.2
Avg w/o Outlaw - 2.3
Avg w/o Outlaw and w/30 Rock season avg - 2.2

If we're going to look at the scripted average, 5 out of 11 shows last week were at or above the average without Outlaw. If we're going to look at the total average without Outlaw and with 30 rock's season average, 6 out of 15 shows were at or above the average.

If The Event, Chase, Undercovers, Parenthood, and LOLA continue to drop, things only will look better for Chuck. And if Chuck can get its demo up to a 2.0 some weeks, things start to look good.

Nothing's a done deal yet, obviously. But NBC is in a tight spot and Chuck is just at the point where its below the total average from last week. It's not out yet.

Well, Love Bites is obviously a 10pm show (10pm Thursdays works perfectly).

As for the others, NBC could try to launch a new comedy block on Thursdays behind their current one? They have three new shows and Parks & Rec to anchor it (though I wouldn't call Parks & Rec an anchor...) but they could air the 13 episodes after the current block finishes its run and bleed it into the summer? I have no idea what this would mean for next fall though if they all do well enough. Start a new comedy block on Tuesdays? NBC does well (well, better) with its comedies, so it's a possibility.

I really liked the episode. It was a bit more serious then the last few this season, yet still had some good comedy along with character moments. Plus it was Morgan heavy, which I have come to appreciate these last few years.

- I liked all of the scenes between Casey and Jeffster. Also, something about Casey playing Magic the Gathering I find really amusing.

- Morgan's eulogy was beautiful. "2012 and all that." And the scene cuts with Casey's eyes were just hilarious. The physical comedy in this episode was really good. The scene later in the show where he lifts Morgan off the ground is another example.

- I don't really see why Casey would be bothered by the fact that people he knows didn't show up to his funeral. I know they were trying to imply he has no friends, but it apparently everyone who actually knows him wasn't aware that he was dead. So no Ellie, Awesome, or Alex, nor apparently his mom (which they seemed to have forgot exists between this episode and vs. the Tic Tac).

- The special guests were pretty good this week and I appreciate they actually had some screen time. Batista: "Is that a little girl?"

Edit: Sepinwall wasn't able to review it this week, so music will have to wait until tomorrow.

Bah, according to the guide the show has been shifted to 10:35pm tonight, which seems really weird. I was looking forward to watching it while eating.

The thing I've consistently seen about Morgan over the series is that
he's extremely brave, but also extremely dumb. Plus he can think on the spot better than Chuck, surprisingly enough.

edit: no cheesecake this ep. boo.

Not really sure why you put that in spoilers. I do agree with you although. Even though he doesn't come off all that bright in spy situations, he will do whatever it takes to protect people. From breaking his own thumbs to escape a pair of handcuffs to electrocuting himself.

And we're back with an amazing episode. I loved seeing Casey play dead. Seriously, that is one of the greatest comedic plots the show has ever done.

Fun episode. Loved the Casey focus with a lot of Morgan, and they did a good job tying in some more about Chuck's mom.

Also, please don't use spoiler tags for things that aren't spoilers - it gets confusing. If it has aired on the East Coast, then it's fair game for posting it without tags (other than promos for things that haven't happened yet.)

We've discussed a lot of these issues at length a few pages back, but you're not caught up on the show and you'll obviously run into a lot of spoilers.

Enjoy the pilot.

Ivysaur is fine. He was posting in the later season topics of Supernatural as well. Nice to see him jumping on other great shows. :D

Just a heads up, Deadline confirmed the news about a back nine pickup being imminent. They add that digital rights issues are holding the deal up (just like Chase, which is shockingly enough getting a back nine as well), but it's expected to be finalized tomorrow.

Booyah! Great news! That was easily the best ep of the season. For those complaining about lack of danger/weight... this season is starting to ramp up.

mmkay, after barely being able to stomach the 1st season (even though I did watch 'em) I watched Chuck again, for the first time since, because I seen Sarah Connor in promos and goddamn... this show REALLY is NOT my cuppa. :(

Ah, ok. Just wanted to let him know that there's been plenty of ratings chatter on here already, though it'd be good to have another person who tracks that stuff around (not to mention a Chuck fan...hopefully.)
