4 seasons is too short for a show of this caliber, especially with the first season being so short. 5 seasons would be perfect.

But the show already isn't what it once was. So the "caliber" has lowered over the course of the show. How much further could it fall with another season and a half? Granted, things could go the opposite way and it could get amazing again, but

I dunno, for me personally, and I realize I don't speak for Chuck fans at large, its that old saying of "its better to burn out than to fade away". If Chuck had been cancelled after S1, I would have said "damn, there is a show close to greatness snuffed out before getting a chance to really shine". If it had been cancelled after S2, I would have said "wow, this is the rare show to go out without ever dropping in quality and ending with a ridiculously long stretch of great episodes". If it had been cancelled after S3, I would have said "well, I think the incredibly shakey S3 was evidence that the show had run its course, and Im glad they got out with only one off season". What will I say after S4? S5? For me there comes a time when a show is on the air too long and it affects my overall feeling towards the show. Like, Ill always think S2 is one of the best seasons of TV ever, but if the rest of S4 and S5 never rise like that again, my lasting impression of the show will probably be one of mediocrity, where the highs were hit too fast and the lows were long and drawn out.

Anyways, end of weekly rant :lol Still need to see this week's ep.

I don't know, Solo. Season 3 had problems, but the back 6 were fun. And personally I found eps 1, 2 and 5 of this season to be very strong as well.

I thought the first half of season 3 was pretty bad (which I complained about plenty in the S3 thead), but the show picked back up with 3.5. This season I have liked all of the episodes except for Cubic Z, which I thought was pretty average at best. I am extremely happy that we are getting a back 11 and hopefully a 22 episode season 5.

I don't agree with this. Season 2 was a peak and early-mid season 3 was a trough. Other than that the only difference to me is the budget, which they can't really do anything about. Plus I personally think 3 of the 5 episodes aired for season 4 so far have been right up there with the best of them. After an episode like last night, I get that "can't wait til next week!" buzz that some of S2 gave me.

But as I understand from these posts, you're very far away deep at the other side of the scale from me, so YMMV. :lol

More Chuck can only be good news as far as I'm concerned.

Not sure if this has been posted yet (trying to avoid spoilers since I haven't seen any of Season 4 yet), but a 24 episode season would allow for a "final season" Season 5 (provided it being the full 22) that would have the one hundredth episode also be the series finale. Would be awesome. I think.

I agree with you that shows usually are best when they have a definite end that they know will come and can change the story to fit that natural end. But with Chuck, since it's so light hearted I can live with however long it goes for so long as the end is good and wraps up everything, I can ignore some bad parts (season 3 part 1, i'm looking at you).

Wait, Season 4 is now 24 episodes? I thought the back 9 would make it a 22 episode season?

They got 11 episodes now, not 9.

Also, iTunes really needs to get the new episode up before my head explodes.

THE WORDS! They'll drift away without the _!
Pretty good episode. Nothing overly amazing though.

Good to hear that it is being picked up for more episodes. 11 might be a tad to many.. if they try and stretch out a storyline.

Wow, what unexpected, incredible news. 24 episodes of goodness this year!

Where are they in the production? I'm guessing they're far enough that the additional episodes will be a story extension (similar to last year's S3.0 and S3.5) instead of a retooling of the already planned story?

SG would know better than I do, but I think they're on the 10th episode right now or thereabouts. They've already scripted the first 13, so the back end will presumably be a new arc.

I would do the same, but I dont think Supernatural is in need of press to stay alive. Would I love more people to watch the show? Of course, because it is awesome. But Chuck is the show we are all used to fighting for.

Now granted, he just marathoned 5 seasons of Supernatural recently. He is new to the Chuck club, so he will be waking up in the best dumpsters before too long. :D

Really, did I have to be the one to post this? People asked for this gif for occasions such as this:

Like I said before, I love Supernatural to death, but keeping Chuck on the air has been a fight since mid season 2. Supernatural is fine and isn't going anywhere unless the actors dont want to continue. Chuck is the underdog and only gets by because of the extremely loyal fanbase.

I still love you Ivysaur.

Just watched the pilot. Great stuff. Too bad I have too much work to do to really catch up anytime soon. I do hope to watch season 5 live with you guys.
Do you see what I did there? Do you see?

Also, Matthew Bomer's the pilot. He's the best leading gay on television! (So I know he'll eventually not be around the show to do White Collar). I kind of dislike knowing this sort of stuff going into old TV shows. It's making Lost somewhat frustrating to watch, actually.

Entertaining episode. However, I hope I am not the only one who feels the actual Morgan and Alex stuff is boring... I am not that impressed with the actress since she was introduced, and she still hasn't won me over yet. However the comedy resulting of Casey and Morgan fights is always great.

Casey in a Stormtrooper helmet ftw:lol

That's the point. Morgan and Alex are just the setup for Casey and Morgan punchlines. To actually make the 2 of them interesting together we'd need more dedicated relationship time, and that's the last thing this show needs more of. I like that they keep it off screen.

Actually, Morgan and Casey had great chemistry during the back 9 of S3.

Yeaaaaaaah... I don't get you at all. This ep was classic Chuck. Back half of S3 was classic Chuck. Easily of par with S2.

That was more like it! Loved all Morgan and Casey's interactions.

I could've done without the obligatory Sarah/Chuck heart-to-heart to cap the episode. Still, it was an improvement in that regard, that's for sure.

the final moment of the latest episode = so bad. Chuck acted shocked before hearing that its his mum. Its like

random woman calls: chuck

chuck: eye brows raised + shocked

random woman: I'm your mother

:lol :lol

I quite enjoyed the episode though. Needs more morgan+casey. I'm a bit over the whole chuck+sarah main storyline.

Cornballer is correct. They are currently filming episode 10. That actually does give them a chance to modify whatever they had scripted to flow better into the the back 11. Last year they didn't get that chance since production was winding down when they got the additional 6 episodes.

I had a vision, one of what the world would be like without will they/won't they or relationship drama, and it was glorious. It was this episode. Seriously, when was the last time we had an episode that wasn't heavy on either? Fantastic episode. The Morgan/Casey dynamic was great, Jeffster was hilarious, the guests stars were fun, the plot was entertaining, and if you happened to miss the final scene and part of the laser scene, you'd have never known Chuck and Sarah were dating. They need to continue like this.

- does anyone actually buy Eric Roberts as being young enough or Joel David Moore as being fit enough to be special forces? :lol
- Morgan: “if there was one word I’d use to describe John Casey, it would be forgiveness. Big, gun-loving, commie-hating forgiveness” :lol
- Jeff: “Don’t worry, I know that dumpster” :lol :lol
- good music selections in this one
- man, Alex is the best new edition to this show in ages – it is impossible not to love her
