Just remembered this. There's that scene where Dalton pulls a gun on Chuck and then cocks the hammer and just says "I didn't need to do that, I just like the sound." So funny :lol :lol :lol
Dalton, like so many other guest stars in Chuck's history, have been amazing. It's about the only thing keeping the show fresh.

Yippie-ki-yay muthafucka!!!

The Subway product placements are just getting so damned unclever lol

As Sepinwall pointed out in his review, there were a good amount of plotholes, but as with any other time this has been an issue for Chuck: I just don't care, this episode was so freaking awesome and hilarious, that I can't find anything real to complain about.

I mean really, was there anything more fun than that Charades scene?

The fact that the laptop just magically gave Chuck his powers back was just a total bit of fridge logic.

I mean, how coincidental is it that Ellie decides to think about Orion and get his car that happens to have a backup Intersect 2.0, right when Chuck happens to have his powers blocked. I mean, it has a question that only Ellie could solve, then randomly a question only Chuck could solve, and immediately shows Chuck Intersect 2.0 (despite the fact that as far as Orion knew, Chuck already HAD intersect 2.0)

It's dangerously close to plot-hole territory.

Convenient writing to be sure, but who is even to say that it's just 2.0 again. I don't see why they bother with this arc without giving it some sort of improvement. And, in the last ep of S3, he said that now that he was dead, dangerous people would come for Chuck and his sister. It makes sense that he would put some sort of protections in place now that he was dead. So, when he died, one of protections he put in place (sending Chuck the msg about the hideout, and running the ads for the car). He knew Chuck would probably find the PSP, mess around with it (does the block) and he leaves unfinished work (because he was approaching it as an engineer) to someone he knows can solve the problem (because she is a doctor). Leaves clues for the only two people that know the appropriate answers as safeguards.

It doesn't take too much thought to justify what has happened, but it is convenient to be sure. That said, I'm glad Chuck has the intersect back. Not the same show without it... the 2 eps was long enough for me to see that.

I've come to accept that Stephen Bartowski was some sort of magical being that somehow knows the future in advance and knows exactly what to do to get it to happen his way. Not the first time it happens, certainly not the last, and it kinda fits the character. Maybe he had invented a time machine of some sort.

No. Stephen Bartowski is Dr. Light and Chuck is X. It explains everything!

I bet Papa B left the computer to Elly because he couldn't figure out how to solve Chuck's problem with the intersect. As I recall, the watch only regulates the discharge that the intersect gives out when he flashes, right? I bet that's what happens with the plot thread.

If it turns out it's an Intersect 3.0, watch it be something stupid like the 3.0 can temporarily give another person information or something. :lol

That was amazing. Anything gif worthy that episode?

I thought the long drawn out head turn, "really?" by Volkov was pretty great. :lol

Great Episode.
Though it would have been an awesome twist if Ellie/Awesome got the intersect after she typed in "I'm here"

EDIT: Yes I know there is the fact about Chuck having super image memory and recognition skills

Big rise in households last night thanks to virtually no competition (House was repeats, so was CBS' comedy block, and Skating with the Stars is no DWTS).

The 4.2 it got was a season high, 0.5 above the previous high. If the rise translates into the A18-49 ratings, we could be looking at a 2.0-2.2 range.

I'm quite happy the way Jeffster has been handled this year. Last season they were run into the ground. Too many performances and poor song selection. Every single song and performance they did paled hugely in comparison to their S2's outings of Africa and Mr. Roboto. I like this that season they have returned to showing some restraint. We are over 1/3 into the season without a Jeffster performance. So when we do finally get something, it will feel like it was deserved and fresh again.

I think a little A-ha Take on Me might fit well in there with Africa and Mr. Roboto :)

Well, if you think about it, the first Jeffster performance last year was in Chuck vs. the Beard, episode 9 of the season. Only season 3.5 really used them more, twice in the last 6 episodes.

But my gripe with last season's Jeffster performances is that they were really short, and they felt forced. Mr. Roboto lasted the entire wedding fight scene, about 5 minutes. Africa, too, lasted the 3 minutes of the song. In comparison, all 3 last year were a quick blip of less than 2 minutes in the middle of nowhere. Jeffster performances are supposed to be grand, to be over-the-top. They weren't for the most part, and they did become sort of normal.

If anyone can track down this song, please let me know via PM. I'm working on a holiday project for the Chucksters here on this thread, and this song has eluded me so far:
This week in "Chuck" music: "Turn It Around" by Miss Eighty 6 (Chuck and Morgan enter the strip kick class)

I'm honestly thinking this is actually deliberate now, like they've turned product placement into an in-joke. The Subway Sandwich has become a proper supporting character. I look forward to it eventually appearing in the opening credits with the main cast list. :lol

For the record, I absolutely despise how terrible product placement has become in most other shows (they actually based a whole side-plot on Bones on a feature on some Toyota car at one point). But the Subway Sandwich is AOK in my book!

My wife and I have been watching the entire run of Quantum Leap over the last few months, we're mid-way though the last season... she's gonna kill me when she sees that's how it ends...

NBC was slightly above average with its soon-to-be revised combination of Chuck (Viewers: #3, 6.17 million; A18-49: #2, 2.0/ 6), The Event (Viewers: #4, 5.83 million; A18-49: #3, 1.9/ 5) and Chase (Viewers: #3, 6.03 million; A18-49: #2, 1.6/ 4).

From what I understand, it wasn't supposed to end that way. They found out at the last second. Even spelled his name wrong.

I find the Subway product placement hilarious. I agree, it has to be extremely deliberate how over the top they are with it. If you don't know the reason it is not as funny, but if you know Subway was one of the major sponsors that saved them it makes it funny as hell.

As for Jeffster music: I still await "The Final Countdown." I think I have been asking for that since Season 2.

Yup, and the annoying thing about them throwing that one card up is, had they just not said anything at all it would otherwise have been the perfect ending IMO. Sweet enough to make you smile, vague enough to make you wonder.

Or they could have least had reworded it... it became clear as the series went on that it was less that Sam was trying to get home and more that leaping and helping people had become a reason to exist for him. It wouldn't be so bad if they just said he continued to help people or something.

Or you could just say that Sam Becket never returned home, but nobody really knows what happened to Sam Beckett. :lol

It's dangerously close to plot-hole territory.

It is NOT Intersect 2.0. That much is clear. Ellie solved a riddle, but then she solved a problem with how the Intersect stores data in the brain. By doing so, Chuck has clearly been upgraded. The Intersect data is now stored in a way that "makes more sense" physiologically, as opposed to being stored like computer data. What that means for Chuck exactly? We don't know yet.

The data in the laptop was clearly intended to be an upgrade for Chuck. First, there was a riddle only Ellie could solve. Then there was a problem that he couldn't solve but hoped Ellie could. Then followed a riddle that only Chuck could solve, at which point Chuck was flashed.

Given what we know, the Intersect upgrade is most likely the ability to more thoroughly retain flashed on information and abilities, or (most likely) the ability to pull data at will, rather than relying on tension to trigger it. There was clear evidence of this right at the end of the episode. Chuck didn't need to flash to be able to get up. He just wanted to, and it happened.

Totally enjoyed last nights episode. Dalton was perfect as the bad guy. Creepy and evil at the same time. Lots of funny stuff with Morgan, as usual. The Die Hard references were great.

Also happy to see Chuck have the Intersect back. Did I miss it, or did he not have to flash when he jumped up and said "I know Kung Fu" last night? Glad to have the real Charles Carmichael back in action. :D

He flashed, but it looked different and it didn't require stress or a special need. Seems like he just wanted the knowledge and was able to access it.

Also, remember the last time he fell backwards like that was the very first time he was intersected so one could assume it was a big upload too.

I have always wanted to see him get punched while in the middle of flashing. Like it only loads halfway because someone hit him while it was booting.

The big issue for me with S3's Jeffster is that the song selection was flat out wrong. S2 established Jeffster as big, over the top, glorious 80's cheese:

S2 -
"Africa" "Chuck Versus the Best Friend" February 23, 2009
"Mr. Roboto" "Chuck Versus the Ring" April 27, 2009

Fucking awesome. But then in S3, they got for 60's folk and 90's Bon Jovi solo stuff. Seriously, how the fuck did they bungle that one so bad? Doing Bon Jovi on Chuck should be a lay up - you do Livin' On A Prayer. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am. Love Hurts is the only Jeffster-esque one, but while it fits the period, I don't think Jeffster should do ballads:

S3 -
"Fortunate Son" "Chuck Versus the Beard" March 8, 2010
"Leaving on a Jet Plane" "Chuck Versus the Honeymooners" April 26, 2010
"Love Hurts" "Chuck Versus the Living Dead" May 17, 2010
"Blaze of Glory" "Chuck Versus the Ring: Part II" May 24, 2010

It certainly would, and I myself have that on my short list of Jeffster dream selections, along with Safety Dance and I Ran.

However, I know using the same artist twice might be taboo to some, but I honestly think there is another Toto track which Jeffster would be perfect for:
