I think that Sarah or Casey needs to die if this show is to be compelling again.

Or Morgan.

Disagree. And that was last page's discussion. ;) It's Chuck day now, so no more of that!

Think im seeing Unknown tonight, so no Chuck.
Oh man I saw Unknown on Friday and loved it. I think I might actually watch Chuck on time this week.

Does anyone else feel like they have been upping the violence this season? Last weeks episode really kicked it up a notch and I am fine with it, but it seems odd that they would change it now because they have always kind of favored off-screen deaths.

The show's way of handling it is uneven, and last week cranked it up a notch because they actually showed some blood. Most of the time people get shot and do the violently shaking and fall down routine, but they don't bleed a lot.

I noticed that last week as well. They are ramping up the violence/blood factor. Still not to the gore extremes Supernatural has done this season, but it was a lil shocking for Chuck.

Logline for tonight's all new Chuck:
Episode 4.17 - Chuck versus The First Bank of Evil
CHUCK AND SARAH PLAN THE ULTIMATE HEIST AT A HIGH-SECURITY BANK—LAUREN COHAN AND RAY WISE GUEST STAR—Chuck (Zachary Levi) pushes Vivian McArthur (guest star Lauren Cohan) to get in touch with her inner villain for a mission. Elsewhere, Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) tries to get in touch with her inner bride as wedding plans ramp up. Meanwhile, Morgan’s (Joshua Gomez) search for a new roommate takes an unexpected turn. Adam Baldwin, Sarah Lancaster, Scott Krinsky, Vik Sahay, Mark Christopher Lawrence and Bonita Friedericy also star.

Okay, back to the conversation of the last two pages:

The thing I don't get about those saying that there is no danger or any stakes...

In S3, they killed Emmett, which clearly shows those at the Buy More are in danger. His family and friends have been in trouble throughout the series in numerous occasions due to his spying (including his dad being killed!!!). This season Agent Rye gets shot and tossed out of the gondola and Chuck is abducted and almost has his mind erased. Perhaps they could do a little better of a job by having these injuries and other things last a bit longer, but then people would probably complain about that too. I don't really get the complaints to be honest.

Yvonne Night! Pretty awesome day so far. I'm slowly mastering Adobe Premiere for my video editing class. I haven't read any part of the book & I'm already a bit ahead of everyone else in the class :D I'll be catching up with Chuck tomorrow on Hulu.

Just an okay one this week. I am noticing a trend lately which is a good or great episode followed by a decent or mediocre one. The trend means next episode should be gangbusters. Anyways, the episode was far from the bottom, but there just wasn't anything in particular that made it stand out for me. Am I the only one who sees the next roadblock for Chuck and Sarah a mile away though? They were laying on a fair number of hints tonight that Vivian is going to come between them. Thankfully I am loving Vivian. That will soften my hatred of angst somewhat.

- whoever mentioned the violence being unusually graphic lately was spot on - pen thru the hand!
- Big Mike: "yes....cats..." :lol
- didn't quite buy Sarah's "we're getting married" scene. It felt too out of character for her. That is totally Ellie, but totally not Sarah
- like I said last week, I really like Lauren Cohen and Vivian Volkhoff - she has a nice charm about her and she is easy to look at
- LOL Matrix-lite scene
- banter between Chuck and Sarah during the robbery was great

Matrix lobby scene was great!

Were those LOST numbers on the card? And screw Pierre Chang, this was Francois Chau's greatest role:

Really? I don't honestly see them going that route. Not that Schwartz and Fedak wouldn't love to do so, but even for Chuck that would be a pretty large stretch to be even slightly believable. Most of their scenes to me were too busy playing up the parallels between Chuck and Vivian before she turns evil. I figure they will get all of their drama from Chuck feeling guilty about that (assuming they go that route) and whatever storyline they pursue with Sarah's family.

- Any scene with Big Mike talking about Morgan's mom is so disturbing. Funny, but disturbing none the less.

- Ray Wise was good, although a bit more straight evil than I expected him to be. I really liked him reading the note as if he were Volkoff at the start.

- The bank numbers were a nice Lost reference to go along with Francois Chau. Apoc, I was going to say I will always remember him as Vagabond, but Shredder is a pretty good choice as well.

- The wedding dress is a bit more plain than what I assumed they would go with, but not really a knock against the episode. The Bone's style holographic computer I could have done without although.

- Like Solo, I enjoyed the banter in the bank robbery scene. Also, I loved Chuck's earlier disguise with the horrible mustache.

- Still no real comments on Vivian. Curious to see how her role plays out.

The commercial break that started as Vivian walked up the steps in Macau definitely had a lost-type thud as it faded out. Maybe they always use it and I just never noticed, but it stuck out there with Pierre Chang there.

I'd rather Ray Wise become the real Big Bad of the final few episodes of this season... he plays evil so well, I could see him giving Volkoff a run for his money.

Too bad James Saito played that role.
Crap, I was hoping no one would wise up. Chau was in Secret of the Ooze, yes; I just searched for a TMNT movie Shredder and that's what I got.

Fun episode this week, but it again felt a little scattered as they try and keep a lot of balls in the air. I agree that the Sarah wedding dress scene didn't quite ring true, but the bank robbery chatter was amusing. Ray Wise was great, as always, and Lauren Cohan is doing some nice work as Vivian. The Morgan + Casey situation has a lot of potential. Solid episode, but I'm hoping they crank it up a bit when the show is back in two weeks.

I really liked this episode. I'm digging Vivian, and I love the actress that plays her because of Supernatural. Vivian turning deliciously evil would be great because we haven't really had a good recurring female villain on Chuck. (Nicole Richie doesn't count.)

The bank scene was hilarious with the banter between Chuck and Sarah. I really like their angst-free relationship when it works like that, it just sucks they have to manufacture something new for them to disagree on for each episode.

Ray Wise is always awesome. I can't think of a single TV show he's been in or a guest star on that he wasn't awesome in. Is it too much to hope for Timothy Dalton and Ray Wise to be evil on screen at the same time? My television and brain might explode.

These are my tax dollars at work!?! Wedding dress designer!?!

Castle's budget for wedding dresses must have been quite large. Sarah tried on, what, 5 or 6? Couple grand a piece right there. And why would they keep the one with blood and bullet holes?

I loved Sarah's little moment of excitement after trying on the dresses. She's mentioned a couple times over the course of the series that part of her would love to just live a normal life, so I don't think it's much of a stretch to think she'd be happy when she realized she'd be getting at least part of a normal life.

No Chuck next week... instead there's two hours of The Event.

Chuck should return in two weeks.

Ugh, why are they wasting time on that show? I guess one last stab...

Pretty good episode. Even though it wasn't as funny as last week, I preferred this one. The fight scenes were bearable (and no kung fu flash to boot.)

I'm a bit disappointed with how they are handling Vivian. At the start of the episode I was excited by the prospect of having Vivian coming on the team for an arc and being a "fake" bad guy for the CIA, especially to counter Casey working on another project. This would be a nice break from "evil corporation with evil boss" routine -- but I guess I was expecting too much from the writers.

Why is everyone assuming she is automatically evil? She said she wants to learn more about her father. That doesn't necessarily mean she'll choose to become the successor. Not that I know anything, but just in case
Fedak or Swartz in that interview CB posted said that she "tows the line", but neither confirmed or denied which way they were going.

Anyway, I think she'll start to go in the direction only to betray Volkoff at the last possible second and Chuck, Sarah, and Casey take down Volkoff Industries for good.

Wow, this show has no fucking logic anymore. It's essentially built around putting Sarah in costumes.

When did the show become like this? I swear I used to like it. :(

Huh, what? They had the belly dancing thing and the wings for valentine's day. In what universe does someone getting married not try on dresses? Honestly, I thought it was a nice moment for a character that over and over has mentioned throughout the series that she wants a more normal life.
