This show simply will not die. It is a zombie, and has been since the beginning of season 3.

I would be fine with or without a renewal, but this is still welcome news. The show has never reached the perfection of season 2 since, but it is a weekly source of fun and light entertainment.

Also, deadline is saying it will be a 13 episode order.

I;m really quite surprised it got renewed with the terrible numbers of the past few weeks, and even more surprised there's and option for a back nine. I hope that this time they actually decide to end the series rather than pushing for more; it seems like most of the storylines for Chuck are kind of done at this point, they can just rap up the series.

I've never posted in this thread before but I just wanted to say HELL YES! Chuck is one of the few TV shows I watch religiously and actually enjoy. Glad to hear it has survived another year.

I really hope they make the decision early for a back 9 or not, that way they can write a proper series finale.

I'm sure they'll let them know before they write 5x13. Unless they started production this month, it'd be hard for them not know by then, anyways.

Fine by me. Now, I hope NBC doesn't pussyfoot around, and tell the production team right away that that'll be the final 13 episodes (should that be their plan).

But yea... WOOOOOHOOO! I'm happy.

Awesome news.

I know a lot of people are disappointed with Season 4 but I like it a lot -- though I'll agree that they're handling Vivian very poorly -- I don't know how I could go without Jeffster and Morgan. I cracked up so many times this past episode because of them.

Wow, I am really shocked (and really happy) at this news. I had pretty much accepted the fact that it was gone after two weeks with a 1.3 rating. I will admit the show isn't my favorite thing on TV anymore, but I thought this season was better than season 3 and I look forward to seeing more in the fall.

clearly theyre just going for syndication at this point.

NBC doesn't produce Chuck, so they have no vested interest in keeping Chuck on the air outside of the fact that they simply don't have enough other shows that do better. Which is good enough for us Chuck fans.

Happily surprised that it got picked up for Season 5. It hasn't been as strong as in the past, but Chuck is still my favorite show on TV right now... Hopefully Schwartz and co. can give the series the ending it deserves with this.

Didn't like it, and the reasons are twofold. First and foremost, WHAT THE FUCK at the Vivian scene after the car crash?! I've watched enough TV over the years to see a lot of dumb stuff, but that may have been the dumbest thing I have ever seen on a network television show. Not only does she Houdini herself the fuck out of there, but then everyone decides she's not worth searching for. Why find the international arms dealer when theres a party to be had, amirite? Oh, wow. Way to make every character out to be enormous dumbasses, writers. The second thing is how ridiculous/unbelievable Vivian's turn has been. There was some funny stuff in this one and some great character moments, but I cannot get past the bad stuff.

- I can't picture Sarah watching Mannequin
- I can however picture Sarah being oblivious to Star Wars :lol
- wait, how did Vivian walk right past Sarah into Frost's cell and not notice her? LOL
- that was an unexpectedly sweet gesture from Jeff to make the video (Lester: "what is this garbage?" :lol)
- twist was kind of pointless, since we know Sarah won't get killed off
Hear, hear. Chuck writers have always been average but this stuff was just mind boggling.

Pickup is a good sign, but is it wrong to hope that they can bring back the old writers room too?

Scott Rosenbaum (V), Matt Miller & Zev Borrow (Human Target), Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family) may all be looking for work in the next week...

Well, I was thinking that they assumed Vivian wasn't a big threat without what's his face around because she was having trouble killing folks and she was working on their side earlier in the season. This reasoning wouldn't be a stretch but it wasn't mentioned at all. In fact, I think noting this would've been kind of interesting with how the end of the episode played out (even if we know that said ending won't occur).

But yeah, I general liked the episode as I do most of them but the overall story elements are lacking a bit as always. I think that's what really separates S1/S2 from the others. The overall story elements were in place and steady allowing them to really build towards the season finales. They made a lot more sense. The episode to episode stuff feels almost up there with the earlier seasons with a few dips of course.

I stopped watching Chuck early in season 3. I was considering watching it again from where I left off. But having noticed a bunch of mixed feelings about the show, I'm wondering if it's worth the time.

I feel like my avatar accurately expresses my feelings about the renewal.

Sort of pleased, sort of shocked, sort of burned out, sort of like I just swallowed a lemon.

Renewed? Ugh. I think I might just get off the horse after next week and pass on the rest of the series, unless by some miracle next season gets amazingly good advance reviews.

Great news on the renewal. Sure, the show isn't as good as when Chuck was a nerd and they had to protect him, but it's still entertaining. Hope they come up with a new villain next season and it's not Volkoff though.

I think so. Early season 3 is easily the worst of Chuck. It picks up at Chuck vs the Beard (ep 8), and barring a few hiccups, is pretty good from there on. Season 4 started a bit weak, but it progressively got better. It's worth watching, a lot of people complain because they're nitpicking.

Yea, that's my only complaint... the whole Buy More cover is wearing thin and almost has no purpose anymore.

those with negative impressions seem to like it well enough to watch and then come chat about it every episode. Just saying.

Battered wife syndrome. Just saying. We all know in our hearts its never going to get better or ever be the same, but we've kept watching. I am filing divorce this time though, pending the critical word on the first batch of S5 episodes.

As someone who has endured Smallville for 10 seasons, you're just as aware of this disease as I am :lol Gluttons for punishment!

It seems like you have had pretty positive things to say about most episodes this season. I get that you don't think the show lives up to the season two gold standard but I don't see why that means you can't continue enjoying the show.
