Question: As a huge Friday Night Lights fan, I absolutely loved your interview with Connie Britton. Is there any more news on who will be coming back next season? I live in Austin, and need to know who to be looking out for around town come September. --Amanda
Ausiello: In addition to Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, full-time returnees include Jesse Plemons, Taylor Kitsch, Aimee Teegarden, and Jeremy Sumpter. Adrianne Palicki, Minka Kelly, and Zach Gilford will likely be back for short-term farewell arcs.
Spotless Mind said:That doesn't make much sense to me, especially when they're keeping Taylor Kitsch full time. I really, really hope he's wrong.
SpeedingUptoStop said:Taylor Kitsch full time is kind of crazy now that he's making movies...and his character already had a great enough good bye.
TVGuide.com: Maybe. Will Season 4 serve up anything similar for Matt (Zach Gilford), Tyra (Adrianne Palicki) or Lyla (Minka Kelly), all of whom could be heading off to college?
Britton: The writers just now are concocting their story ideas, but I would think they do a little arc for all those characters or at least the ones they can. All these actors are going off and doing awesome movies and stuff. We are the farm team for Hollywood, with our actors, our writers, our director.... It's crazy.

Same here. >_>gdt5016 said:Yes I will keep this line of reasoning.
Spotless Mind said:I like Riggins and all, but the show just wouldn't be the same without Matt. Riggins i can do without and i think it's time for him to leave. There is so much more they can do with Matt story-wise that resonates for me. I hope this isn't a case of them keeping Kitsch on just because of his higher profile at the moment.
BigGreenMat said:So I guessed that this was the thread to say it, but I saw Connie Britton (or Constance Womack) at Dartmouth College reunion. At first I thought she looked really familiar, and then I was like holy crap!! it's the wife from FNL!! I had no clue she was a fellow Dartmouth grad until then.
AccessHollywood said:LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Fans have been clamoring to find out the fate of the Dillon Texas Panthers on DirecTV and NBCs Friday Night Lights and Access Hollywood has the exclusive news on who will be returning to the field and whose time under the big lights is fading.
As previously announced, the Peter Berg-created series is returning for two more seasons, with an initial run on DirecTV followed by broadcast on NBC. A source close to the show told AccessHollywood.com that series stars Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler (principal Tami Taylor and coach Eric Taylor) and the actress who plays their daughter, Aimee Teegarden (Julie Taylor), will be returning as series regulars.
Also, Taylor Kitsch (Tim Riggins), who wowed audiences as Gambit in this summers X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Jesse Plemons (Landry Clarke) will also return as regulars.
Minka Kellys (Lyla Garrity) future in Dillion is still uncertain, but our source says shell most likely return for one or two episodes in the coming season.
Adrianne Palicki (Tyra Collette) appears to be least likely to be spotted on the football drama, as her upcoming shooting schedule for the Red Dawn reboot could conflict with the new season. But fans should likely still get a little taste of Tyra in possibly one to two episodes.
And in total touchdown casting news for die hard Lights fans, Zach Gilford (Matt Saracen) will return for five to seven episodes of the new season, where the guy who is best known for taking care of everyone else in his life is said to have a major new storyline that involves him taking charge and taking care of himself.
Friday Night Lights is slated for two more 13-episode runs during the 2010-11 TV season.

They were headed in the direction of Matt leaving during season 3 anyway. While i definitely will miss the character, i think it will be for the best from a story perspective, because it would seem like they're contriving reasons for him to stick around. I didn't like the idea of Matt staying in Dillon when it popped up in the finale, to be honest. Just think of it as 7 more episodes of Matt that we are lucky to even get.WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING TO HAPPEN WITH MATT AND JULIE? HOW CAN HE BE LEAVING?
Hopefully someone along the line is mistaken.

Just have to wait and see how this is all handled before I make up how I feel about it.

E! said:There's trouble brewing in Dillon, Texas, and it's not just caused by the literal split of the town. There are other splits coming, including a few of our favorite TV couples, who have some rocky roads ahead.
We sat down with Friday Night Lights' Connie Britton prior to her Conversations session at the SAG Foundation, and she dished what's in store for the citizens of Dillon in season four, which kicks off production on Sept. 2.
When we left the Taylors at the end of season three, Coach (Kyle Chandler) was banished to the run-down West Dillon High School, while Tami remained principal of the Panthers. Could this split actually revive their marriage? "Wait, there's nothing wrong with the marriage," joked Connie. "Hello! The marriage doesn't need reviving. How dare you?"
Actually the impact of the separate schools may "add a new dimension" to their relationship, Connie said. "It's very hard to even grasp what it meansthis whole new school that needs all this help that Coach is going to be going to, with redistricting and all that. I think it's going to be more [about] us trying to figure out what our new roles are in these places than it's going to be us at odds with each other. Maybe we'll find a way to come together and help each other with our competitive schools."
While the Taylors are adding a new spark to their marriage, little Julie (Aimee Teegarden) may be in for more trouble this season. "It'll be much more interesting if she's not a good girl, don't you think? At the end of the day, I'm her mom, [and] I want her to be awesome," Connie said. "Maybe she can have one more spell, and then I want her to pull it all together and get into a great school and live an awesome life."
So what does this mean for Matt Saracen (Zach Gilford) and Julie? Connie told us, "At the end of last season it wasn't like he was going to be gone." However, Zach won't be in many episodes this season, so it doesn't seem like they could last. "Exactly!" exclaimed Connie. "I don't know how that's going to sort itself out."
NBC
Speaking of doomed relationships, Taylor Kitsch recently told us he's coming back for season four, but Minka Kelly is only back for a few episodes, which Connie teased is not good news for Lyla and Riggins fans: "Riggins is going to have to move on. The reality of the situation is he's in Dillon; he's never going to leave Dillon probably, and she is. She has a whole future, and I think it would be really interesting to see what that does to him. Maybe she'll come back and do some episodes, and we'll see where she's gone off to and see the difference between the girl who gets out and the guy who doesn't. Those old high school relationships where you think [you're] going to be forever together and then you've got your whole life ahead of you and everything changes. "
gdt5016 said:Ugh. They have destroyed Riggins and Matt/Julie.
Here comes the return of early S2 Julie.
Ugh, this certainly tempers my expectations a bit. The only wish I have right now (for the characters) is that Julie and Matt end up together at the end and that Riggins finally succeeds. Billy's awesome speech last season seems like a waste now.

Ausiello said:Question: Like most Friday Night Lights fans, I was devastated to read in last week's AA that Zach Gilford will not return as a series regular next season. Do you know how long he will return for? --Amanda?
Ausiello: It's looking like five episodes, maybe more. And I'm a little bummed myself.

EW said:Word on the street -- and by "the street" I mean Michael Ausiello's Smurf-bedecked suite -- is that Friday Night Lights will very likely end in 2011 after airing two more seasons. After breaking this news with Ausiello, star Connie Britton hedged a bit in another recent interview: "You never know -- if it does do really, really well, maybe they would go on for more seasons." Sure, if FNL suddenly becomes a ratings beast in the next year or so, then all involved will no doubt reconsider their options. But Britton added that she's not afraid of the possibility that the series might say goodbye after season 5: "Everybody is really embracing the idea of having two seasons and being able to be really specific with these arcs and know where we're going to end up."
I'm inclined to agree with her. Friday Night Lights has had a fantastic creative run so far, one of the strongest of any network drama in recent memory. I can't wait to get junkie-level, absolutely-can't-miss hooked again when season 4 premieres. But consider how much cast upheaval FNL already saw last season, with so many core characters graduating or otherwise leaving Dillon High. Two seasons from now, I can only assume many of the replacement characters from season 4 will be facing that same crossroads. And while I'd love to see Britton and Kyle Chandler (pictured) mentoring an infinite series of new high-schoolers for years to come, I expect the end of season 5 will make a natural stopping point for the characters we've gotten to know. Besides, I'll count us lucky to have gotten even five full seasons of a show with ratings as (undeservedly) dicey as FNL's.
But what do you think? Will you be happy with five seasons from Friday Night Lights, or do you wish this show could go on forever?
whytemyke said:The stuff about Lyla leaving and only coming back for a few episodes actually sounds like something the show could do well. former cheerleader leaving and coming back eventually to see how she's changed from her old high school sweetheart.
Cornballer said:I'm fine with five total. I'd rather see them end it than have a few seasons of diminished quality because they're out of ideas.
