yeah, review scores are becoming less and less relavent.

Hammer24 said:I never experienced any lag in the beta. Not once.
And you probably never shot a gun in your life - the sounds are so lifelike its frightening at times.
Edwood said:I call bullshit, you never even played the Beta then.
You obviously never shot a real gun in your life, nor even checked out a video on YouTube of a real gun being fired. The sounds are so lifelike? Yeah. Right. Gunshots are pretty much the same shot indoors, outdoors, not the correct pitch at distances, a.k.a doppler effect. Even people that have never shot a gun in their life can tell the difference from even a YouTube video of real guns and many of those in the game. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and guess that you're tone deaf.
Hammer24 said:I´ve played enough beta games with GAFers here.
And I did quite a couple of years in the army. And I heard guns being shot not only on a shooting range too. Quit your bs whining.
The only thing I give you, is that the weapons sound is not varying enough for different environments.
You really believe you could tell a gun sound from a youtube video? Thats ridiculous.
Edwood said:Still, no lag? You fucking serious? Did you not watch a single kill cam shot after you got killed?
Hammer24 said:I got either dropped out totally from match due to bad connection, or had a silky smooth experience with no lag at all. The first thing happened about 5% of the time.
RubberJohnny said:Despite the universal critical praise and word of mouth this title is getting, I still claim it's the Emporers' New Clothes.
Edwood said:But the lag I'm talking about is where you empty a whole mag into a person, but they don't die, and they kill you. You watch the kill cam replay and notice that they starting shooting before you did, even though you saw yourself shooting first.
Hammer24 said:Then I shall consider myself lucky, had never something like this happening to me.

it's the best bang for your buck this year. halo 3 is a close second. you get 2004's GOTY, it's two awesome add on packs, on of the most original puzzle games in god knows how long (ignoring Narbacular Drop which was really just a prototype for Portal) and an awesome multiplayer game.ItsInMyVeins said:Yeah. Reviewers are way too nice. And what's the deal with people crying about The Orange Box not getting a full 10/10, "only" a 9.5? What the fuck? What's wrong with you people?

plagiarize said:the quality of each of those titles holds up to anything you could put against them, even if the length of some of them doesn't... and the full package is just too good value.
plagiarize said:i guess it's whether you see the score as a scale of game design merit, or of whether or not you should purchase the game. if it's the latter, Orange Box can't really get less than a ten.

Fallout-NL said:You could scarcely believe how fantastic Portal is. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. And yes, now that I know how good it is, I can safely say, it alone is worth 60 bucks.
Also, Portal gun > Gravity gun.

It is, however the amount of 10's is a bit excessive as well. People need to start adjusting to this new generation just simply offering much better games than last. Like they need to every generation.Dr_Cogent said:I just think we are getting some really awesome games this season. This is one of the best seasons I've ever seen.
