I wonder if Jim Delany delivered this pizza personally. Both of them must be pretty broken up right now. :)

I'm disappointed in the laser pointer thing, because that will be what people will remember about Duke in this game. I'm a season ticket holder and pretty much the football regulars wouldn't do shit like this. Other than that, if we had taken advantage of a couple of drives, we could have made a game of it.

What disappointed me more was #40 with those targeting hits. Absolutely trash behavior. The even worse part? The Duke fans crowding around the tunnel cheering him on as he was escorted out.

I'm an FSU fan for life, but if anyone on our team did that I'd be calling them a piece of trash as well, and I'd certainly be embarrassed of my own fanbase. Left an extremely sour taste in my mouth.

Was that what that green dot was on his face during a play that I was wondering what was going on?

Also, I feel like when Duke's coach went to say congrats to Jimbo I dunno if it was just off camera, but I feel like he barely said anything and snubbed him almost to the point where they didn't even shake hands. Maybe I just saw that all wrong and missed something , but it felt really awkward and pretty unprofessional.

I would have punted them both if the FG was too long. They said Carr has punted like six times this year. I would have pooch kicked it.

Yeah that's a catch too. Fresno is so dumb.

The green dot was some scumbag Duke fan trying to shine it in his eyes. You could easily tell by the fourth quarter (especially with the targeting hits) that some of the Duke players were letting their frustrations out on FSU players.

I didn't really see the coach meeting at the end, but I couldn't imagine that it was anything profound. To make matters worse, Heather Cox was interviewing Jameis after the game, and instead of asking what it was like to win the ACC and go to the National Championship was a freshman, she bombarded him with questions about the rape case. It was so completely unprofessional that Jameis just stopped responding to questions and walked away in one of the most awkward interactions I've ever seen.

Between the laser pointer thing, cheering #40 on, and Heather Cox being a dick, the whole end of the game makes me pissed off thinking about it.

Makes sense and yeah it's definitely a shame that things turned that way. Duke seemed like they had some class coming into that game and they should have known it was a wash anyway. I get that it's frustrating but they should have just used it as a learning experience.

Jameis did light up when that stuff went down like I've never seen before. You could see the crazy fire in his eyes when he was giving lip service through the ref that was pushing him back. Guess it wasn't so unwarranted. Never seen him like that though because he's usually so calm on camera. Glad he kept it in check though.

Oh well Unconquered! baby!!!

I think a FSU rep pulled Jameis away, actually, and you could hear the rep berating the reporter about it as Jameis walked off.

Wait wait wait... since when has "fuck the rest of the SEC" not been my position? I think I've been pretty consistent there.

I thought you were pretty ambivalent about Vandy. Though I suppose you keep them around to do your homework and give you their lunch money.

Yep, it's tradition by now. :/ Every fucking year. So sure, give them props for winning every time, but bah humbug.

Auburn is only in this game because of last-second Georgia and Alabama blunders. And not just normal blunders, but historically dumb blunders.

Well, I'm glad I'm still alive. Bars were way too packed so we couldn't make it after the game. It was a great game and I'm happy that we we've almost finished what we started. All that's left is winning at the Rose Bowl.

A few things:

1) OSU tears were delicious
2) I know that all OSU fans are not like this, but the ones at Kilroys (popular bar) were lame and would pretty much only chant after we did lol. BTW they out numbered us 70 to 30.
3) Game took a year off my life because Braxton
4) I think that cedar village in MSUs campus is going to be gone by tomorrow

Good to hear you had a good time. This year's cedar fest riot was much crazier than the cedar fest i went to in 2008.

Tonight somehow actually got a lot better after the B1G title game ended.

(everyone I was watching it with unanimously deciding to watch Space Jam afterward probably helped)

PS fire Fickell and Coombs out of cannons into West Virginia.

I really hope the basketball team makes it their personal mission to derail Sparty.

Because that would be swell.

You can't really derail them since you're allowed to lose games in basketball and Sparty usually is mediocre all year and then Izzo coaches them to the Final Four.

Sounds like crybaby bullshit.
Wack ass article. I guess ESPN paid all those teams to choke & let bama slide back into the title game & even without preseason rankings what year would it have changed things.

2010 Auburn would have been in the NC even if they started rankings in January. So that was a dumb example

What year did the sec not deserve to get in the title game during this streak? '07 LSU is the only argument.

Golden Domers are chickenshit!!

Vandy can win a few games. But the relative amount of success they've had under Franklin has rubbed some of the shine off of my desire to root for Vandy. :p

I'm suprised the rest of the CFB nation isn't actively lobbying to get a pro team based in the state of Alabama, to dilute the focus.

Here's the rub on the Norman hit, and part of the cheering from the Duke fans at the game. If memory serves, he hit (was it Winston) in the chest but lead with the helmet, so it was a definite penalty and ejection. Most of the Duke fans on the board agree, and some are still happy he did it. Not necessarily to injure, but to send a message. Most of all Duke fans think Jimbo was trying to run up the score with the starters in in the 4qtr. Duke decided to do something about it. I'm not saying it was right, but I will say for years and years and years that Duke players have taken cheap shots from teams from other players (including FSU) and have never done shit about it. Ask any long time Duke football fan about Aaron Rouse from VT and you'll see anger. 3 straight late high hits on Thad Lewis, where he was struggling to get up, and the o-line didn't do shit about it.
Its not that way anymore, When that UNC player took a cheap shot on Conner Vernon hitting him square in the back, the o-line took a shot at one of their defensive linemen. The players are developing a bit of a nasty attitude, and sometimes it leads to things like that, but I think its something thats ultimately necessary to change the culture there.

Blame the teams from other conferences who consistently choke away their chances. What other one-loss team this year is more deserving to play FSU than Auburn at this point?

I guess you could try to argue for MSU, Baylor, or even Stanford, but I think you'd lose that argument using nearly every metric.

Auburn is only in this game because of last-second Georgia and Alabama blunders. And not just normal blunders, but historically dumb blunders.

No, they're here because they did just enough to win all year and other teams choked away their chances. I could easily argue that the only reason we needed that miracle against UGA was because they gave Murray an extra 6 inches because there was no reverse angle camera and that we would have beaten Bama in OT.

An unlucky tip and a return that happens 1% of the time (and NEVER to end a game) aren't "historically bad blunders." They were just bad bounces.

I can't believe that OU is going to end up in a BCS game.

That's ridiculous. It's not a good football or business decision. Oregon would get better ratings.

No it wasn't. I wish I had an hour to tear that shitty, paranoid, incredibly poorly-researched article up. Since I don't, I'll make five quick points:

1. The preseason polls screwed Auburn in 2004 worse than any other screwing in the BCS era. I hate them, too.

2. It's not the SEC's fault that other conferences routinely screw up their chance to play in the title game, letting the SEC slide back in like LSU 2007.

3. The SEC doesn't have a sterling bowl record because we send more teams to bowl games than any other conference and routinely have lower-ranked SEC teams against higher-ranked competition (SEC #5 vs ACC #2 in the Peach Bowl, for instance). This us exasperated by the SEC always having two BCS teams, which knocks that ranking down one more. That we still do well in bowl games despite that speaks to the depth of the conference.

4. ESPN owns all of college football, not just the SEC. In fact, the SEC is one of the few conferences with a major contract with another network. The ACC doesn't have that.

5. The SEC has had more competitive teams in the BCS era than any other conference. 5 SEC teams have national championships (3 of them have 2 or more with Auburn having a shot at being the fourth this year). No other conference has more than one winner or even two representatives (Miami and VT were Big East, before you argue).

BONUS - The SEC talent level is undeniable when you look at who is playing on Sunday. That doesn't always translate to on field success, but the talent is there.

The football gods are Auburn fan, it's become pretty obvious to me the past few years.

I could feel the Gods all over me as we limped to 3-9 last year.

Good stuff. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy, by and large.

The polls have been fucking bullshit this entire season. Michigan State at 10 and Mizzou at 5? Yeah. Bullshit.

Mizzou's one loss was to a pretty strong USCe team in OT and they had more impressive victories. MSU lost to LOLTeos and didn't have a quality win until last night.

Why was it such bullshit?

Sitting there in the bitter cold yesterday and getting emotionally crushed by a hated rival made me feel like a real Browns fan for the first time.

Awesome, isn't it?

And holy shit, I just realized I'm leading the post count for this week. I don't think that's ever happened before.

Because the SEC East was godawful this year. Mizzou's schedule was hardly grueling, especially by SECSECSEC standards, yet they still got the SECSECSEC benefit of the doubt even though they avoided pretty much all of the legit SEC teams in the regular season.

MSU gets so such benefit or poll boost, even with having an absolutely dominant defense that has looked awesome the entire season.

Pretty sure I'd be in first if I hadn't been at the game.

Sure, it would have been 100 posts in the vein of "fuck my life!", "are you fucking kidding me?", "how do you drop that!", "fuck these refs!", but still. Sorry to deprive you guys of that.
