Golden Domers are chickenshit!!
God

I feel for you App State. Truly. Wisconsin has lost so many close, nail biting games that just break my heart. This reminded me of one of them. God bless you all. Know that everyone who wasn't in SEC territory was rooting for you. You were the good guys. You will always be the good guys. Remember that.
Hi, welcome to the Neogaf CFB threads, where (most of) the SEC fans actually hate the other teams.

Fuck Tennessee. And Fuck the SECSECSEC crowd.

Tennessee should have a pretty good DL this year. Very talented and fast. That said they didn't play like it all last night. Something was just off with the whole team. You are smart enough to know teams play up and down, and it is hard to judge a team by one game. If they play this way against VT and UF

I live in Knoxville, and all I have heard about for months is the VT game at Bristol. So much that even I forgot about App State. I wonder if Tennessee completely overlooked them, because they played that way. This should be a better version of the team that dismantled Northwestern last year. The DL has tons of talent and speed with several future NFL players. The only one that played liked it last night was Barnett. Also even worst was the Tennessee OL. There were a few changes, but overall no excuse.

In the end this all comes down to coaching. Jones didn't have the team ready, and it is 100% his fault. Tennessee is very streaky under Jones, and when they play bad, it is really bad. Rarely have I seen Tennessee put together a complete 4q game under Jones. Look at the UGA game last year. Tennessee didn't show up until up the end of the 2q. Look at the UF and Okalhoma games last year. Tennessee decided to quit after the 3q.
Butch Jones is their problem. I talked about it a little bit on the podcast last night. He's a really bad in-game coach.

I think last night was a couple things. Tennessee players read their press clippings all year and were overconfident and thought all they had to do was show up to get this win. But being too cocky is also a coaching and preparation problem.

The other side is that Tennessee is overrated. That's obviously the case. But, teams make the most improvement from week 1 to week 2, so I don't think you'll see anything quite that bad for the rest of the year.

Still, that Tennessee offensive line was really bad.

Yeah Googly, I think you might be the only non-Tennessee fan that was rooting for them last night. I sure wasn't.

Also my whole family is from the mountains of NC, and the area around App State. So they have always been a team I liked and respected. Matter of fact most people in East Tennessee like them a lot. So I do feel bad for them, but I am a longtime (sometime suffering) Tennessee fan (since 1986 Sugar Bowl) so I will take any win no matter what.

I love BigVolDaddy and everyone on my Facebook feed feels disgusted over the win.

I don't know if all the hype around the team this year got their heads and got a little too big for their britches but i was disappointed in how they played and although i will sit here and agree app should of won i will still take the victory even if it isn't pretty because i sure won't get it from the Titans.

During Tennessee's BCSNC run they pretty much stole 2 games, the Syracuse and Arkansas games. Sometimes when you are not playing good, you have to be lucky.

You got my post before I edited. I didn't mean to post that version of it (I was still working on it).

That said it is hard to disagree with you. To be honest the best coaching I have seen from Jones is when he goes 'fuck it, we have nothing to lose'. He has coached some nice comebacks. He did coach a nice game against Bama last year, and both of the bowl game victories. That said going into your 4th year, I should be able to say that about most of your games instead of a few.

At least he is not Dooley.

That said who knows what team will show up in Athens. Tennessee and UGA are usually pretty close (nail bitters) under Jones, so I hope they show up. We should know for sure what kind of team Tennessee truly is after the VT and UF games. Unlike most Tennessee fans I am not rushing in judgement either way (the radio on the way to work is already out of control after last night). Teams are up and down.

You might be the most reasonable UT fan I have ever seen. Or close to it.

Butch Jones is the albatross around the neck of that team. He may get you guys to 10 wins a year, but last year is very indicative of how his teams play.

Here's the thing, the Saban's and Kirby's and McElwain's of the world are going to exploit those weaknesses every time.

Say what you will about Louisville, but they can recruit the big time.

Butch Jones's problem is that when his OC left that he had been working with forever he hired Mike DeBoard. Dude is terrible.

I think he's a decent coach, there's just a ceiling with him. You know they're going to drop a couple games a year minimum because of questionable decisions. I don't think he'll ever win the conference. Division even seems in doubt. This is the year he's been building for. Year what 4 or 5 with all of his own recruits? If he can't take them there with the East being in the shape it's in then I'm not sure he's the guy.

That really isn't a good comparison at all.
How so? I'll give you that Auburn had a game against Louisville the week before that they won, so there's that.

Because Jackson St is a FCS school and App State is a FBS school. They also went 11-2 last year as an FBS school and had like the 11th ranked defense last year.

I am not saying we will be fine but the comparison doesn't really make sense. You can't compare a FBS team to an FCS team.

Felt so good to watch some football last night. Would have felt better if Tennessee chocked away the game but whatever. Survive the work day today and football all weekend. Interested to see how Brandon Harris plays.

I want Tennessee to win through October so we can curb stomp them at home and crush their souls. One more day guys, got to Dallas yesterday afternoon. I will not be out-Gump'd.

While I like many people who are Tennessee fans, I wish for nothing more than for their falls to be filled from start to finish with nothing more than sadness and tears. Not until Tennessee fans themselves raze Neyland Stadium and salt the earth upon which it stands will my hatred abate.

Most Tennessee fans are unreasonable because they are use to spoils of the 90's and early 2000's. The VolNation forum is so bad I can't even read it. I am sure they are calling for heads to roll this morning. Myself I remember a time when a loss would effect me for days. I think it was after Dooley lost that LSU game with too many men of the field that I finally broke. I had to step back, and go it is just a game, stop taking it so seriously. So I don't anymore. I am just glad I can enjoy a good game.

That said wouldn't you say most fans of any SEC team are pretty unreasonable?

That is not going to happen. Even if Tennessee plays close to their hype they are dropping at least one between VT, UF, UGA, and Texas A&M.

MRE covered it.

I almost broke my hand when Johnny Effing Football beat alabama, I punched the 3 inch thick wood moulding so hard my hard hurt for about two weeks. So I vowed to not get upset anymore. If we lost we lost because we weren't prepared or playing to our best, and that's okay. Trust. The. Process.

Not saying it makes losing to Ole piss twice or the that Ohio school any easier, but have been able to just let it go.

I see UT as an 9-2 team tops this year. They don't have it super bad, but they have several really hard games, and they cannot afford anything close to how they played last night.

For the record, we played App State last year and I left at halftime due to us being up 38-0. And it's not like they recruit at a level to where they'd be that much better this year.

Jesus, I really hope it's much more Tennessee not as good as everyone thought/got caught looking past App State/something else than App State is that good because we have to go there in 2 weeks and now I am really scared.

Fans of every team are completely damned unreasonable.
Especially Penn State fans, right?
For new people, I am one of those fans, but not an alumni.

Speaking of which, how do you feel about moving the PSU game to the second to last week in the season? Win or lose, it seems to me like it could lead to a lot of let down games against Maryland.

Am I missing something or shouldn't that Tennessee fumble recovery have been at the one yard line? Could've sworn you couldn't score a touchdown on a ball that's fumbled into the end zone.

Maybe I'm imagining things.

Was it an App St fumble?

I believe the offense can't fumble forward and receive the extra yardage if they recover but if the defense recovers they can move it forward.

Keep forgetting App State made the jump from FCS to FBS.

Be terrified. That's going to be the biggest game in Boone in a long time.

Looks like Michael Roach, the Wofford player who collapsed last night, was held in the hospital overnight and is expected to be OK.

It was so quiet that everyone could hear the EMS workers yell, “Clear!” before using a defibrillator, the paddles that restart the heart with electric current.

“He stopped breathing for a little bit,” said Dr. Stephen Kana, team orthopedist. “But we got him back. Fortunately, everybody did what they were supposed to do. …It was a scary deal.”

Roach was taken to Cookeville Regional Medical Center, less than one mile from Tucker Stadium, and was scheduled to stay overnight at least for observations. Dr. Eric Cole, the team physician, stayed with him.

Roach had been sitting on the bench when he just fell forward to the ground. He was on his hands and knees when people began screaming for help. Kana said by the time Roach was loaded onto a stretcher, however, he was breathing normally again.

“He was awake. He was talking,” Kana said. “I put an airway in him and he spit it out. I went to put it back in and he tried to bite me. So I think he was OK.”

If none of our receivers step up yall have nothing to worry about. We're good. But we just don't have the same threats we've had in past years.

That's an NFL rule, not the case in CFB

Well it made sense. Rutgers and PSU were originally OOC games for both teams the last two years and to find new games on those dates would have been really rough for both teams.

I think this is Rutgers best chance to beat you guys this year, you graduated two guys that are really really good college football players in Nassib and Zettel (who swon that game 2 years ago by himself) and all around really young football team, while this Rutgers teams has a alot of fifth years, plus its a home game for us.

Coaching staff is both really different for both teams with new coordinators for new guys and Rutgers actually having coaches this year, so both teams will look completely different at the end of the year than at the beginning of the year.

I think Rutgers will do all right this year, but net year is going to be brutal.

As a team we really don't have rivalries in the league yet, they're trying to force Rutgers and Maryland but each of us really don't care about each other and only care about beating you guys, you guys dont' care about us and only care about tOSU. Although, I must admit this weird Rutgers/Michigan "rivalry" is so weird that it makes me a fan of it.

Anybody can recover and advance an (unintentional) fumble. The rule that only the player who fumbled it can recover and advance it applies only on 4th down and/or inside the two-minute warning in the NFL.

And those special rules are designed to address attempts to keep a play alive by intentionally fumbling the ball, not flukey stuff like that Tenn. touchdown.

Well, the Gophers looked sloppy as hell last night. Leidner looks like the same guy he's always been despite claims that he's grown as a passer. We're also still bogged down by the same stupid mistakes that seem to lose use 2-3 games every year. Botched snaps and dumb penalties. In theory those are correctable, but I've yet to see any Minney team play a tight a clean, mistake free game.

I did like how fast and aggressive our defense looked, it was strange to feel like we had the best athletes on the field against another Power 5 team, even if it is a fellow bottom feeder. Generally it only feels that way when we're beating up on Southeaster Bumfuck State University during the first few weeks of the season.

The march to Bowl eligibility continues!

Anything could happen in the USCw/Alabama game, but I really do want to see what happens when a 6'2" 240+ lbs running back gets into the secondary and takes on a 5'11" 180 lbs. safety (or the other safety, coming in at a gigantic 5'11" 185 lbs. frame)

Who's the RB and who's the Defensive lineman?
I hope Bama knows the best way to hide the roids...

you guys aren't a bottom feeder in any way, shape or form, compared to Oregon State.

You have a shiny new stadium and a beautiful metropolis and no Nike's Most Favored Nation university just a ways up the road.

I thought it was really just a super slow start, Gophers looked waaaay better in the second half.

Not sure where on the depth chart he is, but USCw sent home a player, possibly involved with the same sexual assault case as that other LB of theirs.

Memphis did not get a rose in round 2 of Big XII Bachelor!
http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/17451020/memphis-tigers-potential-big-12-expansion-candidate

The University of Memphis, once considered a viable Big 12 expansion candidate in part because of its backing by FedEx, is not among the schools being considered by the conference, sources told ESPN.

Memphis was among several schools that expressed interest in joining the league and had conducted a video conference with Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby in the past two weeks, sources said.

However, the Tigers did not make the latest cut when the league trimmed its group of potential candidates by one-third, leaving 11 schools still alive in the Big 12's expansion sweepstakes.

Those 11 schools are Air Force, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, UConn, Colorado State, Houston, Rice, South Florida, SMU and Tulane. The list does not include Temple, which had been previously reported by ESPN as still being in the mix.

And then there were 11.
