College Football Week Ten Thread: Unranked Miami Upends Ranked Duke

Kelly's system is opposite of what Richt runs...which is antiquated as hell.

Fitzgerald and Sweeney would def. listen, hell almost every coach in the country would at least listen.

If you fire Richt...you have to go get a big time, established coach that's shown he can win.

Richt's system with Bobo put up 42 PPG last year. Seemed to do fine then. An NFL system isn't antiquated as hell, it's just different than what is en vogue in CFB right now. Everything is cyclical. NFL systems will become popular again in CFB in time once defenses adapt enough to the spread.

Eh fair points, I was just talking more from a personal preference lol...should've specified.

Richt just tweeted that Pruitt is in the office and working on the Kentucky game.

:jnc I just saw that.

Man, somebody in that administration really hates Pruitt and is leaking out all kinds of fake shit if this is true.

Well the system that Schottenheimer has been running is antiquated as hell, I'll give you that. With Bobo, we used a lot more spread sets and were a bit less predictable.

Chizik apparently really wants the UCF job. Used to be a coordinator here.

The issue there is we have no rich donors willing to spend $200k+ on players.

Hey guys, I think I found the source of the UGA rumors:

I've been hearing that all these leaks about Pruitt being the fall guy are because he is pushing hard for a more "win it all atmosphere" vs a "laid back atmosphere" and its causing friction.

Also been hearing that the bigger donors are telling the president they want Schotty gone and Richt gone.

Seeing the same things. Pruitt is pushing hard to get them over the hump, but there's some major pushback due to his intensity.

FWIW, listened to Fletcher Page and Mark Weizner's (of the Athens Banner-Herald) podcast today, and Fletcher is pretty convinced that both coordinators are gone at the end of the season. Schotty seems to be a given. Pruitt is outnumbered in there and his style is very polarizing. They say that Pruitt was warned by the UGA president last year after he threw the admin under the bus for not having an indoor practice facility yet. They told him not to do that again or he'd be fired.

How are we just now learning the proper name is LSU&A&MC? I demand answers, Cyan!

My undergrad's (now NCAA Div. II) initials are SDSM&T and yes we sometimes print the full acronym on official shirts and all that.

I'm familiar with the School of Mines and Technology. We've had a few of the STEM-inclined students from our high school make the trek out there. Good school from what I understand, I just hope there's not too much of a bubble when they get out, like with computer science at the turn of the century.

I find it interesting that Gonzaga and BYU are on that list but other private schools like USC and Stanford are not.

Edit: I see USC at #21 on the second list, so scratch that.

Very good school. Lots of employers, giant and small, come and recruit there like crazy. Placement rate is like in the 90% with a pretty high starting salary. Bubble-wise, though, I think might depend on your major. CompSci/CEng? Yeah maybe. Mining/GeoE/Met/Mech, I think there's still a huge demand.
That said I did not get my degree in engineering, lol.
I really loved how small and tight-knit the campus was; so many campus-wide traditions and cultural things that you could simply just not have at a giant university, nor one that was just a generic small liberal arts college.

On the topic of CFB though, our football team (while usually awful) has one of the oldest, most played rivalries in the nation with a school only 50 miles away and has a pretty damn unique stadium (I've yet to hear of anyone else with something like it) w/ a drive-in set-up so you can tailgate and watch the game:

You shut your damn mouth. I know what you are doing, and I dont like it.

Not one bit.
I really don't see a loss for FSU in this game. They're a really complete team right now and Clempson hasn't been tested like FSU will test them. There's no way they lose.

Normally I'd shit talk but I can't with Ohio State since 59 - 0 :(

It will be kinda neat though when our only two losses are from the teams in the national championship game. Sort of like last year's Michigan State.

But you lost to Alabama Yeah, it will be neat.

Well, it was Syracuse.

I gotta say, you FSU fans seem really confident this week.

During the FSU/GT game, I would have said Clemson 47, Florida State 20.

After this past weekend, I will say Clemson 47. Florida State 34.

For my Yahoo pick'ems, I went FSU with 2 points because reasons. Same reasons had me take Duke with 1 point over UNC.
