"All New" X-Men.

Pretty sure that's supposed to be Xall new men #1. And i'm in, Xall rocks. Also, going to be a ton of double shipping :P I think we saw this coming though, but for some reason i'm still a little surprised that both Thor and Iron Man are double shipping from day one.

Playing catch up on stuff you've missed can be amazing.

- A month or so ago, I caught up on both Hickman's FF runs and thought that was really inspired, with a great sense for science fiction, mixing high concept and adventure.

- Two or three weeks ago, I read the Secret Warriors omnibus and found this book is truly something special. I don't know any other mix of espionage, military and super heroics. The last third of the series was a bit of a letdown because it changed so much but it's still really good. The art was mostly good (except for some fillers), the book has its own visual identity and Hickman does some really strong characterization. I've seen a shitload of Fury in the past 2 decades and a half and I don't remember him being written this well (he has 3 amazing one liners in this book). Absolutely loved that book.

- Which brings me to today. I've blown a shitload of money to get up to speed on Fraction's Invincible Iron Man. I had read the 2 oversized hardcovers, so I had to catch from 500 up to 522. Which I just finished doing. I already thought the first 33 (?) issues of Fraction's run were very strong but it's really satisfying to read all that stuff in a couple of sittings, how it all flows together and builds up to this enormous story. Even the Fear Itself stuff is good and I hate Fear Itself by itself. I'm honestly amazed Larocca has managed to put out such a steady output on the book and I'm really liking where this is going. Maybe the stuff is too fresh in my head but is there objectively a better Iron Man run out there ?

So, help me blow more money GAF, what should I catch up on next? What other memorable stuff was released in the past couple of years that should absolutely read? Am I euphoric just because I've read big stories in a few sittings or did I just luck out on some of the best stuff of these past few years?
I'm not a Fraction fan but after Iron Man and Iron Fist, I'm thinking of giving his Thor run a try, is it any good?

(If it has been released as an Omnibus or an Oversized hardcover, there's a 99% probability I've already read it. If it's from Grant Morrison, that's a 100% chance)

Just finished volume 16 of the Invincible tpb's. sogood.gif, as always. Need to go hunt down the next three issues before the new one next week.

Dinosaurus :(

Uncanny X-Force?
Waid's Daredevil?

I really liked Secret Warriors and FF/Fantastic Four and i don't think it's just because you got them in a big chunk, but then again i prefer reading comics in bunches rather than one issue every month.

The WW looks so fucking incredible, especially looking at the solicitis knowing that this Gods shit is still going on. At least she is chilling with Batwoman.

Of the Marvel now shit, Uncanny Avengers sounds like the weakest of the bunch along with Deadpool of course. Probably check out the other shit, even an issue of Bendis X Men.

cheetah hasnt been lost to the ages? thank god. now all we need is snapper carr and we have a stew cooking.

Cheetah is the villain of the next Justice League arc, for what it's worth (not much considering Johns is writing har de har har).

Also of note :
-Joker leatherfacing an even bigger permanent smile on his face might be even creepier than the glasgow smile Joker we've had as of late. It'll probably make for a pretty goddamn scary visual in the hands of a guy like Capullo. Don't judge it on a Benes piece. Of course it's gonna be terrible in that case.
-The X-Men line has the best logo design of all Marvel Now!, mostly because it's not absolute shit like the others
-You're still wrong with regards to the quality of the current Wonder Woman arc.

Oh wow, the X overlay changes depending on the book. Compare the All-New one (classic, weathered edges X) to the Legacy one (shattered).

Holy shit. Logo design redemption.

It could probably do with being a little less plain and hard to see (yellow on white isn't good colour dynamics), but hopefully covers will get to play with it a bit while keeping the core concept of the overlay. Its definitely the best execution on a new logo concept than the sea of shit delivered so far.

Still miss the ol' super iconic fonts from the 90's cartoons though:

Avengers is about the only one thats held out over the years, and Spidey gets points for going back to the very first one. The era of the plain font on everything else though is a very drab and boring one to behold.

Heres a good runthrough of loads of comic logo's through the ages:

There's a one-off coming out in the summer and then the final story arc, Omega, which will be another seven issues, but none of these have been published yet. I would guess some time next year for the final volume, then?

That sucks. It's too long a wait =(

Also, anyone know any good Dr.Doom TPB? As much as I love the guy and I don't own anything he's featured in heavily.

They're really bringing the original team forward in time and screw the consequences huh?

"Hey, Hank, here's your future: You'll be blue and feline!"

Guyz, what if they brought them forward to help recreate the Mutant race? Like, what if this is like some crazy Riders of Pern level madness and stuff?

Thanks to a national holiday in France I gots the comics a day early. Holy motherfucking shit that last page. I actually said holy shit. It is going to an amazing place. All I can say about it. You will want to read this.

e: Shit, yeah, fuck, right. Wonder Woman #12.

Journey into Mystery with Kathryn Immonen! Featuring Sif instead of kid loki...

but also 3.99 and no digital code???????????????? Talk about the book still going on, maybe there will be a back-up or the cover has an error on it......

These and the four I posted earlier are from an unpublished story that takes place pre- New 52.

fuck.

johns? fuck.

im gonna assume these are bubble clones. so them existing outside of the timeline has no relevance on the actual original xmen.

It's AR at least. I just started trying that stuff this weekend and it's actually pretty extensive!

But I mean, I've given up on that fight, personally, so I understand completely if that's in no way any kind of cost incentive.

i'm completely sold on the 3.99 print issues with digital codes, that way i can have the issues in digital, sell the floppies, and buy an OHC if i love the book and it comes out.

AR....i haven't tried it yet, not eager to with front facing tablet cameras that doesn't work with my ics version on the touchpad. I'll have to check it out sometime.

it is a clever little logo. With the little hydrogen atom built in and all.

holy shit though, I actually dreamt this. I thought well enough of it to write it down even. Although it was time displaced clones flown in from space, part of an unused backup plan against an "unbeatable enemy", and they'd be younger and have to readjust to..eh whatever. I didn't have a Phoenix force or Xmen mojo to work with. So, interesting move, I don't hate it.

Any thoughts on Grimm Fairy Tales? I see it on sale on Comixology and if it's reviewed favorably, thinking of either getting it on there or waiting for the hardcover.

e: Shit, yeah, fuck, right. Wonder Woman #12.

I just saw a page from the issue on Tumblr. Is this the introduction of what might be
the New Gods? Is Orion the figure putting the helmet on and disappearing in a Boom Tube?
If that's a big yes, then Wonder Woman was just taken to a whole new level!

Sell the floppies? Do people pay money for them then? What kind of return are you seeing? This is the first common-sense argument I've seen in favour of the codes - personally most comics are shitty and disposable so I'm not going to read them twice. I'd much rather download, read, delete and forget. Can't be doing with that paper and leaving the house business no more.

As for the MarvelNOW stuff, the new X-Men book does look cool if only for the Immonen artwork, that guy is the nuts. Still, the idea of the kids coming to the present is just... weird. They're going to have to jump through an awful lot of hoops to explain it and make it not sound super dumb. I'm really un-jazzed by the rest of it so far though. Maybe coming off of the 52 stunt, I'm a bit more cynical and less easily impressed than I once was. To me, it seems like a great jumping off point for a few series.

Hmmmm if i say they sell then the market will be flooded. NO ONE BUYS FLOPPIES, KEEP THEM IN YOUR CLOSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I order from DCBS, so i pay about $10.80 for six issues of a 2.99 book, maybe that sells for about $7, $10, or $14 depending on the book. I get flat rate priority mail envelopes free from the post office and use some leftover packaging material to ship them in from when i moved. I make a bit less on 3.99 books because people don't pay more for a comic just because marvel prices them higher. But now paying $2.39 for a 3.99 comic with a digital code? It's a good deal as long as the books keep selling on ebay. For me, I just hate rereading books in single format, so if i like something i want the oversized hardcover and that might take 2 years to come out, so in the meantime i can reread the book digitally and still have it around until then. And i still keep some single issues for sentimental/collector/basketball reasons if i really like the book.

I just bought the The Oath on comixology. I've never read any Doctor Strange before and I picked it up since I saw Brian K. Vaughan was the writer. I really like the artwork and the story is interesting so far.

that slayed me, came out of nowhere, haha.

that david stern/chris paul/stuff will be etched in my brain for at least another year or two, or whenever a big trade is proposed.

Finished up Irredeemable and almost done with Incorruptible. Irredeemable is definitely worth checking out even if it gets unwieldy in the back half and loses a little appeal. Incorruptible is decent but probably should be skipped, Max Damage's story arc isn't that compelling and all the larger story beats are in Irredeemable, making Incorruptible feel small and inconsequential. I'm probably burned out too, i don't read 60 issues of anything these days, so reading that much of one concentrated thing was a bit tiresome.

And apparently CBR updated their article on Journey into Mystery, the 3.99 was a typo and it's 2.99.

currently marvel buying:

Amazing Spidey
Daredevil
Fantastic Four
FF
Defenders
Hawkeye
Secret Avengers
Ultimates
Uncanny X-Mouse
Winter Soldier
Watxm

Will be Marvel Now Adding:

Deadpool
Hickman Avengers
Uncanny Avengers
Thor
Indestructible Hulk
Journey into Mystery

maybe:

Iron Man
Red She Hulk

It's going to be tough adding all those double shipping books and only shedding Defenders. I don't know if i'll go through with it or cut elsewhere or wait till they end up on Marvel Digital Unlimited in the year 3000.

Hey guys, wondering if someone could help me here. I've been wanting to get into Daredevil and I'm trying to piece whether these two are the same series

http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/Daredevil-Vol-1-Mark-Waid/9780785152385

http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/Daredevil-by-Mark-Waid-Vol-2-Mark-Waid/9780785152392

Just not entirely sure, because the Vol 2 there was published (June 27) before the Vol 1 (Aug 8). Vol 1 collects 1-6 and Vol 2 collects 7-10 though?

Yes both are volumes of the current ongoing.

The second one collects Daredevil 7-10, 10.1; Amazing Spider -Man 677 according to Amazon.
