OK so I'm reading Fraction's Hawkbro series, which is awesome as many have said, but what happened to Old Nick Fury? Did they kill him, did he retire? Cuz I really hate how they're shoving/shoe horning Samuel L. Fury as the main SHIELD head.

Crazy Millar was one of my favorite writers but his post kick ass work has been wack.

He's alive and semi-retired.

He's currently only appearing in the Winter Soldier series.

I couldn't believe the quality drop off between Ultimates 2 and the Ultimate Comics Avengers books.

Maybe a lot of it was Hitch -> Yu but not...not all of it.

Guys I'm hitting my Local shop after work, and I have a list of what I want to get, but I want some suggestions.

Currently, I'm avidly following X-Men Legacy, Deadpool, I'm going to get the rest of Avengers Arena, I'm collecting the Adventure Time comics, and I'm going to try out Hellboy in Hell. I would like some batman comics, but I'm not sure whats good. And I've heard Black Beetle is good? Any recommendations are welcome guys.

Batman, Batman and Robin, Batwoman, and Batman Beyond Unlimited are all stellar Batman titles and almost always good to great month in and out. Very safe bets, from the Bat Family front.

Need to find a floppy of FF #2 (I have floppies of 1, 3 & 4.) If I can't find one... I may probably just go digital since I have 1 digitally as well.

But this week's list is:

Question for anyone buying Dark Horse digitally: How's their reader compared to comixology and are the two stores compatible or not? Need Black Beetle.

If you have time today you should head to Fantasy Books and Games in Livermore or Crush Comics in Castro Valley. Both are way more likely to have back issues than Ink is.

I think Millar just got a lot more cynical. Atleast his characters read that way. The only recent work of his I enjoyed was Superior.

Anyway, his UC Avengers were alright, nowhere near the quality of Ultimates, but they are still better than Loeb's stuff and the current run by that forgettable writer.

I remember when I used to care about the Ultimate universe, but then Marvel and Loeb took a giant shit on me and I never read it again.

not just Marvel dude. The current crew of writers and editors must all be swinging dicks, unhappily married, or divorced, because there's no such thing as a happy and stable relationship in mainstream comics. Constant drama and love triangles and bullshit. I think they believe that happy and normal relationships are boring, and we want to read about superpowerd lotharios juggling multiple women while being ignored by the "one he truly wants". Narm.

I am the president of the fanclub, and I never liked her as Batgirl. Also, burning comics is bad for the environment. Just give them to a girl and tell them it's a cautionary tale. Never anger your writers or they'll try to fake your death, give you multiple new identities, and then finally disappear you into the void.

I get back from SF around 6:30-ish so I'll give Livermore a go. Castro Valley's gonna have to wait until Sunday. I'll probably check Jeffrey's Toys after work as well, may get lucky for at least FF.

For me, it has to do with Ultimates/Ultimates 2 escaping the gritty, hyper violence of his current stuff.

And what is this talk about possibly not liking Stephanie Brown Batgirl?

Two answers:
Uncanny X-Force. I know what the story would be, but can't let it out. Jason Aaron and I are planning to make it real.
Fear Agent. I cooked up a way to relaunch Fear Agent in separate conversations with Tony Moore and Jerome Opeña. The story got us all very excited. Shouldn't talk about it in case one day I decide to do it.
