I was astonished to see some plot advancement in Invincible this month, was there a mixup at the printers?

Also, I'm a bit disappointed in the quality of Marshal Law, the reproduction is especially poor for the covers and the original Epic mini-series.

Here is my interpretation of the events. The whole thing ties back to the last arc. Avengers 7-10 and New Avengers 1-5 spoilers follow:

We know that the "System" that governs and watches the development of the multiverse got broken because of the incursions. This leads to the situation where both the time and space axis of the multiverse is out of control. Now it get's fussy and I only use the information in the book: The incursions started happening sometime between the end of AvX and the start of Hickmans run (The ironman suit used by Tony during therescue of Hyperion gives that away and the first NA arc is before the first arc in Avengers).

Ex Nihilo tried to use a special variant of their "bombs" - which were based on designs from "the universe" and thus are also linked to the multiverse and the system that guarded it - to kick start human evolution and the evolution of earth. This happend and the last white event was initiated to give society a chance to get through this forced evolution. These events combined with the interference of Night Mask and Starbrand lead to a jump start for rebuilding the system based on something that seem to be the remaining blueprints of the last system. And during the rebuilding process the new system is reaching out across time and multiversal space to rebuild itself. Consequence: Time and Space are ruputured explaining the difference in time passed and the people exposed to it get "unhinged" from the reality they are part of - in regards to both: time and space - thus we get to see alternate universe versions and possible future variants of the 616-crew.

I hope this is not too confusing - but I love Hickmans run and trying to puzzle it all together :)

Yeah - first post :)

I'm still confused about the whole connection between Avengers/New Avengers.

#1: I don't understand the solution given by Black Swan (?) about stopping the encursions.
#2: Was the system stuff ever mentioned in New Avengers?

Also: Are there any connections to Uncanny Avengers?

most of what has happened in New Avengers happened before the start of the regular Avengers book. Only the New Avengers team knows about the incursions on earth. At least until next issue.

Holy shit, Young Avengers was fucking fabulous this week. Everything was spot on and fresh-- loved all of the characterization, action, humor and twists. Perfection!

I'm not quite sure. Hyperion has to have an idea and I'm quite sure that Shield/Sword have an vague idea that something is wrong

Hickman's Avengers books are quite out there for a duo of mainstream books and are unreal in regards to the details he carefully plants for later use.

I have not been this exited for a book from the big 2 since Morrison's JLA kicked into overdrive a lifetime ago :)

Yep. His costumes when drawn in ANXM looked spectacularly crappy. Funny enough, I loved how he drew the Avengers as well as Scott in his civvies.

It's stupid that every woman in the series is a blonde with a black leather suit with a split down the middle. It was hard to tell emma and magik apart for a little while, and then he introduced a new character who I straight-up though WAS emma with exactly the same look. Makes no sense at all.

And I like his art :\

Agreed. After the long game he played on FF I have total faith in him. His characterisations are so good too, the issues are entertaining even if the 'story' doesn't feel like it's moving in the directions we'd expect. Shit is going to get so real when everything collapses.

I did some googling to see Illyana and Emma's previous costumes, and the current ones actually seem less revealing then a lot of older stuff. It's hard to tell what's fan art and what isn't though...

I think Magik should go back to this and they should all stop wearing thigh high leather boots:

Oh God... I had that same problem at first too. Now I try to focus on who has that weird backpiece thing (Magik) so that I can tell her from Emma apart. With Lady Mastermind, I was going 'wtf?' when I first saw her before I realized who was who.

:/

Bachalo is one of those artist where only he can make his crazy designs work (like the X-Men costumes for instance) but I also like it when he draws regular people... In other words, he's hit and miss for me.

Comic-Gaf, I want to ask for some recommendations. I am going on a long car trip to go rafting in Georgia next weekend (10 hours one way), so I am stocking up on some comics prior to the trip. I have Nausciaa, Batman and Robin (the first three hardcovers), The Walking Dead compendium 2, and The Darkness compendium. So, I want to pick up one or two more paperbacks before my trip.

I have been really getting into DC stuff because of the animated adaptions of Teen Titan and Justice League. I have always been interested in DC, but like Marvel comics, I have no idea where a good starting point will be. So, I want to hear what is a good first step for a DC comic noob?

Are you looking for current stuff or legacy?

Does anyone else hate the red band on the Marvel Now comics...enjoy looking at the cover art but that just takes away from it.

You might try Harley Quinn: Preludes and Knock Knock Jokes, Batman Beyond Unlimited and anything by Paul Dini, if you want to ease yourself in via the animated universe route.

Appreciate the recommendations. All I have read from DC is Batman-heavy, so I'm a little curious to read outside that character and any villans who directly connects to him.

Does marvel now stuff ever go on sale on comixology? Seems a bit pricy compared to DC new 52 stuff.

Doesn't really bother me. Most cover art can be found online without the red band when the book is first solicited, so all you need to do is track down the .jpg and enjoy.

Definitely. Still better than having the ad strip for Arrow/Batman movies on DC books. I actually like the blue/green strips on 2nd/3rd printings more. The blue especially looks better.

I just started using comixology recently but I've noticed this too... image and dc back issues seem to drop in price (in some cases as soon as newest issue is out) but Marvel titles don't seem to budge.

Current Flash run is also good. You'd also be safe with the current Justice League and Justice League of America.

Nah, it helps me find my stuff faster. Also I know that the strip is blue after the first press is done.

Only thing I hated was the placement of the IM3 logo on Hawkeye #9, because then Marvel had to move their logo onto Kate's shirt. Were the IM3 logo not there, the cover would've looked just like the preview cover initially.

Demon Knights is a crazy heroic fantasy romp with the kind of crazy high-concept ideas you can only see in comics -like how the team is named after an homonym of an evil alien empire from Wildstorm- and plenty of irreverence, it's one of the most consistently enjoyable books of the new 52 and you should pick it up.

Dial H is a revival of an old Silver Age concept of magic phone dials that can turn their users into a random, often weird and crazy hero. It's all about exploring this concept and its crazy ramifications, of which there are many. It's pretty much a 90s Vertigo book in the vein of Doom Patrol, down to the Brian Bolland covers, and that's pretty much the highest compliment one could give to a comic of that ilk.

If money is not an object, get the New 52 omnibus with all #1s. I have it, and its quite the conversation piece.

What? Like "Why the hell did you spend $xx on that?"

Seriously, 52 #1's means there's absolutely no continuity from one story to the next. And in a book that big, what's the point?
