Hickman is probably too busy, but he was the only person who seemed to care about the Inhumans and Cosmic Marvel after DNA left. At least until the GotG movie announcement brought Bendis and pals on board.

You're probably right, but that's why I'd want him. He was the only one who gave a crap for a long while.

For good or bad, the reboot of the DC universe was an historic event. For a nostalgist like me, its a time capsule of that month in Sept. 2011 when everyone was talking about the reboot.

Also the creators brought their A game for the #1s. Im some cases the results were still not good, but even the bad stuff (e.g. Catwoman) is interesting. There are only a few uninteresting duds among the 52 issues.

"A Game"? More like "a game".

Ha ha ha ha oh man I'm sorry, I don't even actually believe that, but I couldn't pass up such a brilliant gag.

Nah, you're mostly right. Firestorm, Hawkman, Voodoo or Hawk and fucking Dove weren't A game. They weren't even B game. They were like, G game.

Still catching up but Tomasi and Gleason's Batman & Robin is some good shit, I'm enjoying it as much if not more than Snyder and Cappulo's Batman.

I have to disagree about Voodoo. The first 4-5 issues were actually rather interesting. And Sami Basri's art is consistently gorgeous, not to mention being a damn machine to putting it out, month after month, without a single delay or missed issue. After Ron Marz was let go the series suffered because they pulled back from the shades of grey it had been going for.

Green Arrow was fucking awful also

I think it might be easier to list titles that actually brought their "A game" it's a short-list.

Jokes on me for wanting to trade wait Age of Ultron, it's coming in an oversized edition ( yay!) for $75 ( WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT? ) with some of the junk tie-ins. Comes out in September.

edit: Hmmm looks like it will include a digital copy too like AvX OHC did.

I think all Marvel hc's come with digital codes now.

Reading more of the future previews it looks that way. When Marvel said that first volumes of Marvel Now hardcovers would come with digital copies I thought there was a chance of it only being the first volumes, but the second ones looks like they get copies too.

If I wasn't already buying the series, I would probably just wait for a $1 sale on Comixology. Not required reading so far.

I keep hearing this...but haven't read the comic yet. I just know they made him a whiny baby in one of the new Justice League comics.

unless it gets really good reviews towards the end i think i might wait to see if it comes to Marvel Unlimited, AvX is showing up there now, though i chose to buy that at the time. If it were just Age of Ultron plus that last Avengers 10A.I issue for $39.99 msrp i'd consider getting it at dcbs at half off, but 75 is a steep starting price even if reduced to 37.

And to everyone bummed by Immortal Iron Fist Omnibus being hard to find, Marvel are putting out Complete Collection tpbs of stuff at the end of the year, including Immortal Iron Fist that will be $39.99 and have the same contents as the omnibus :O

No "on the bull horn" this month? Is there going to be one next month Spike? Those are the best part of the OP.
The "Bullhorn" segment is open to anyone, not my personal soapbox. If anyone has something they'd like to talk about at length for the May thread, send me a PM and let me know.

Dont read it, it's a waste of time. Jeff Lemire took over at issue #17, but what preceeded it was pure garbage. It's better now

That is so weird. I'm all about converting my floppies to digital, but I bought a HC, why would I want it in digital, especially an oversized one?

I guess on the go readin but...

humh

Convenience of having a bunch trades on a tablet for commuting or traveling I suppose. Still, it's nice to see them so fully embrace digital, unlike Millar.

I look back on that era with a different mindset. I was SO EXCITED. I bought nigh on 40 books. So many broken promises. So much Scott Lobdell.

That dude is the worst.

I don't consider his opinion valid because it basically boils down to him not supporting digital since he has friends who run shops.

I'm in for some good comics this weekend. I picked up the Whedon's Astonishing X-Men omnibus and the second volume of The Manhattan Projects.

So did anyone else happen to check out their BAM? I'm curious to see what else was out there besides what I scoped at the local.

So after hitting the LCS for my weekly floppies, I drove across town to check out that clearance sale on graphic novels at Books-A-Million, that Az987 talked about earlier. I walked in, went straight to the back of the store where they keep the marked down products and, after staring for a few minutes, pulled out my phone and started taking pictures of the entire 4ft section of shelving devoted solely to clearance graphic novels. Then, I purchased about $100 worth of said books, drove home, and after fixing dinner used the pictures to compile a list of everything they had.

Here it is (bolded are my pickups).

It looks as though Diamond once again cleared out a warehouse of old stock by selling it to BAM at cut-rate prices; the receipt even says "Marvel Diamond Comics" for a few of the items purchased. Prices marked were as low as $2.97 for some items, as high as $9.97 for others, with most falling in the middle range. And as you can obviously tell, the selection was almost exclusively Marvel, with a few books from smaller publishers IDW and Dark Horse; the only DC item that I noticed was a TDKR writing journal that was probably just misplaced.

Your mileage may vary.

Dan

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
Ugh, Stumptown digital or hardcover...

I prefer hardcover, but that price is so good.

The hardcovers are certainly pricier... by like 6x. And we have to wait another 4 months for Vol 2 to hit.

Superman Unbound is already available on digital distribution networks like PSN and Xbox Live. WB has been releasing their animated DC features digitally ahead of their retail release for a while now.

Doing my comic book catch up since last weke when I was busy with work and stuff:

Wonder Woman #19
Of all the Nu 52 stuff, this si the only book I'm enjoying along with Morrison's Action Comics run.
I really feel bad for the poor kid, and all this is happening without him knowing about it.

Saga #12
Fucking good issue, and I really feel bad for IV, he really shouldn't be going through all this shit.
lol at the bukkake image on his head during the war, his brain must've been frizzled real bad from his injury
