COMICS! |OT| April 2014. Truly, there is no shame in continuing to read awful comics.

Yo, so are we doing this podcast? Can we at least get a list of people who want to be in it/do it?

Add your name to the list folks! I'm going to stand by the fact that a week to week discussion on the new releases and news is what I'm most interested in. I know that there are other podcasts that do a similar thing (most notably iFanboy) but I'm sure there are still many people out there interested in a different set of opinions. That's not to say we can't have spotlights on other stuff, we're a fun group, we can come up with some crazy shit :D

Well given that I tentatively floated the idea yesterday I guess I'm in. Would prefer a broader range of subjects be covered than just the weekly grind though. When so many of our folks are so new to comics I feel we owe it to them to talk history and classic runs as well.

This sound interesting. I've been an off an on comic reader for a few years so hearing about past runs and history that people like to gush about appeals to me.

May I join in, Cheska? :3

Don't worry, we can talk Grant Morrison.

Does anyone even have any experience podcasting? lol

Wouldn't mind hearing/talking about past comic history as well, so long as I'm able to. It's part of why I've enjoyed some episodes of AT4W, after all.

Maybe alternate weeks?

One week comic history
One week comic review/news

Who's OUT?

I'm fucking in! I forced the idea from Jedeye's idea.

haha I can keep the Moz love on the DL, I know it rubs some folks the wrong way :p

I can't keep it on the DL. It can't be contained.

Can we call it WHITE SPACE? Or will people confused that for a KKK-astronaut podcast?

Or do one half comic history and the other review/news?

This sound good. I usually get tired of hearing someone talk for over an hour, an hour and a half so I think if we were to do this we should think of an allotted time frame.

We don't even have to jump to full podcast status, we could start with just meeting up on skype/google hangout/whatever and just start by getting to know each other and talk comics.

Like Messi mentioned, some of us are very different when were literally vocal rather than typing stuff out, and I think it would be good for us to feel comfortable enough to shoot the shit.

Flash 30 was pretty damn cool. I really liked it and I think Booth did a great job. Since I'm new to comics, the big shock was
Wally was the teen dead in the street at the beginning of the book and he was Black? Also, 20 years from now Barry is blue?

I admit, I don't get to talk much over skype/google hangout/etc., and I don't really know how I'd flow with the rest of you (I do tend to be different when I talk IRL), so getting to know you all first and seeing if I'm comfortable enough would be good.

I'm in to shoot the shit about comics. I'll bring a fresh optimistic take rather than a jaded, I miss my old continuity, take on comics.

I would love to be in, I would love to discuss with you Spider-Man: Fearful Symetry, but english is not my native language and I have a really annoying speech defect... I will think about it, maybe in a later episode, ok?

This sounds great.

What day is usually best for you guys? I could do it as early as tonight haha. We'd also have to figure out time differences, days, program that everyone has and can use.

Let's do this people! :D *hugs*

Batman #30 : Great issue, probably my favorite one of zero year since 23ish. The arc almost feels too big now for being a zero year book, to the point where it reminds me of an elseworld series more than an early year.

I'm still having to use my brother's computer (though not for long, hopefully), and I still need to see if I have a working headset or mic, so it's going to depend for me.

I'm on EST, and I have Skype, Google+ and Ventrilo.

I'd need to pick up a mic before I could record anyway :p

Perhaps weekends would be best? Lots of different time zones I'm sure but I can stay up very late on weekends as I'm in the U.K.

Quite down for this :) I did a radio thing a couple weeks back and was pleasantly surprised by my radio voice (got a face for it too)

I just read my first Scott Lobdell comic ever with Superman #30. Wasn't bad at all. Maybe working with Pak and Soule on this Doomed story has helped him. I liked it and I liked Ed Benes art.

Weekends are cool too! I'm pretty much available most evenings during the week, and I can make time on the weekends too.

You guys just say the word when you're ready =]

Does anyone even have any experience podcasting? lol

I do, let me give you guys some advice.

Be prepared with topics to talk about. Nothing is worse on a podcast then dead silence/awkwardness.

If you want to make it a real podcast you need to be on a strict schedule (once a week, EVERY week) to get a fanbase.

None of you know each other in real life so its going to be awkward for a while.

Don't go in with the mindset of battling each other on 'DC sucks' or whatever. People here joke about that kind of stuff being funny but it generally isnt, and it will take a while for you guys to figure out (with all your different personalities) how to make it funny.

Your flow will suck for the first 10-15 "episodes".

Make sure 2 people are recording, because eventually something will happen and you will lose an episode and it will suck.

I'd be happy to answer any more question, I was on Deathofcomics for around 100 episodes.

IMO as a regular pod listener the show should be compiles where everyone records their raw audio and it's mixed afterwards. Skype quality casts sound like poop .

What a small week for me. All I got was:

Daredevil
Original Sin
GotG (I only have this because it has DnA in it and to give Bendis another chance with the new line up to see how it works)

Hopefully I'll get to rant a little about it in this thread later.

I want in!

I'd be up for it almost any day this week except for this Friday.
It might suck but I'm really pumped up anyway.

Really Marvel? Five .1 specials for Original Sin 5?

Who could they even kill in this even that hasn't died at least once in the last 15 years?

I have a teamspeak server if you guys need some place to record the podcast (as teamspeak has a decent recording function out of the box afaik).

Anyone else pick up Elektra just for the art and get hooked on the story?

I'd be interested in the podcast. Started doing comics about a year and a half ago, mostly read image and a few marvel: Thor, Hawkeye, Secret Avengers, Young Avengers, Superior Foes...

I've also been called a comic elitist on this board, and have an underdeveloped website called comicbooklit, to give you an idea of my taste.

JLU #0: That was a fun read. Definitely on board for this series.

Just read it myself and I have to agree. It was a fun book. You can tell that is what Lemire is aiming for and with McKones art and the colors, it's a very distinct difference than other DC books. Glad to see some diversity. I have liked all my DC books so far this week.

You should announce the spoiler one time before you discuss him. Like, Now we are talking about the new Issue of Superman, if you dont want to be spoiled, jump to minute 15 or something like this.

I think it's a good idea to get some talking in and some introductions prior to recording.

@Vibranium: You make a good point. Maybe I'll give it a try later on then. Rucka Punisher made too much of an impact for me to accept this new take in T-bolts and the new run so easily.
