COMICS! |OT| April 2014. Truly, there is no shame in continuing to read awful comics.

I might as well join in on this podcast. I have a bit of experience dealing with something like this. I would show you guys my YT channel but it's amateur hour stuff.

Add your name to the list folks! I'm going to stand by the fact that a week to week discussion on the new releases and news is what I'm most interested in. I know that there are other podcasts that do a similar thing (most notably iFanboy) but I'm sure there are still many people out there interested in a different set of opinions. That's not to say we can't have spotlights on other stuff, we're a fun group, we can come up with some crazy shit :D

Who's OUT?

I'm in for this too Cheska, unfortunately I can't talk to tonight though due to work. Just let me know what method of communication we're doing, and the times, I 'll try to make it for some of the sessions (using the power of time converters, I'm on West Coast Pacific time). Should be fun! I agree with the suggestion we should just do introductions and break the ice, then rattle off our books of the week. :D

@Vibranium: You make a good point. Maybe I'll give it a try later on then. Rucka Punisher made too much of an impact for me to accept this new take in T-bolts and the new run so easily.

------------------

What was behind the door in Zero #7?
Were the guards watching porn or what?

------------------

Oh totally, and if the new Punisher isn't for you that's ok dude! I didn't like TBolts but this run is really good so far.

And as for Zero, I'm guessing too it was a
child porn ring or something
. Would make sense with how Eddie reacted.

oh yeah in
IMO as a regular pod listener the show should be compiles where everyone records their raw audio and it's mixed afterwards. Skype quality casts sound like poop .
I think we should just write a script out before hand and everyone records their lines individually

After reading a few issues of Justice League Beyond 2.0, I have a question.

How exactly did Brainiac mind-control Darkseid with nanomachines?

How many "items" (comic books) will an artist/ writer typically sign at a comic con? I know there's no definitive answer. Just trying to figure out if I have a chance to get more than one book signed per artist/writer.

I really like how the "copy the list and add your name" idea has caught on.

Nono, transcribe it and let Hollywood talent record it.
You're onto something good

As many as you have, but it depends on the person. Like, when i went to signings with Gerard Way and Scott Snyder, they could only sign 5 items just so the line could keep moving. 5 seems to be the general cap if there is one. But i've seen people bring shortboxes full of books to get signed. Please don't be that guy though.

I'm currently part of a retro videogame podcast & webseries, so if you guys need any help with the logistics, lemme know. I think it's important to reemphasize that you guys need to spend some time getting familiar with one another via voice or (even better) video chat. Also, a consistent release schedule is the key to slowly building a fanbase.

All this talk of informally getting together to talk has me really wishing there was a decent chat room for comic talk. Would anyone be interested in starting something like that?

^^Wait a second, how many people here actually buy the comics from the store? As opposed to buying digitally?

I buy digitally.

I buy digitally.

I only buy physical, but recently started sticking to hardcovers and trades only. Can't budget for all the damn books I wanna buy every week and I don't mind waiting a few months. But I order them online, so not physically from the store. I dunno. I'm weird.

I'm 100% digital. I was hoping that 12in iPad rumor panned out, but it seems unlikely this year.

Every time I think I've made the wrong decision I look at the space my single longbox from a decade ago takes up and realize that I have 5-10 times that many comics on Comixology and I feel better.

I'm almost completely physical. I usually stop by the shop every Wednesday to pick up my floppies but if there are some good sales going on, I'll go digital.

I wouldn't mind going digital for single issues since I end up buying the trades for series I like anyways lol

I buy everything digitally, and then re-purchase my favorites as trades... and sometimes re-re-purchase the library editions / hardcovers.

My phone doesn't want to connect to QuakeNet, but I'll try again on my tablet tonight. I'd really love to have a chat room for comics talk!! Even if it's just a dozen regulars.

100% Physical... and it's starting to take it's toll. Reading digital just doesn't seem as involved an activity, and I find myself skimming more often than note. (Warning: incoming hipster comparison) It's like listening to an album on vinyl as opposed to on your phone. Similar to vinyl, I like the idea of rummaging through my issues/hardcovers and rediscovering favorites.

I buy digitally.

I buy from the store except for Uncanny Avengers.

I will buy a tablet this year though, and when I do any comics with advertisements will be bought digitally. Comics with no ads, backmatter and quality paper will be bought in store.

98% physical. Love the whole experience of going to a shop, talking to everyone there, getting my books and bringing them home and enjoying them.

When you have a great shop, that's one of the best parts of the hobby.

Sadly, my ass is stuck with an overblown Manhattan shop now.

On to my Marvel pull.

First up is All-New Invaders. This issue hooked me. As my first experience with some of these characters, I'm having a blast getting to know them.
