Admittedly there is a point where Saga got to almost absurd levels of misery porn, including the issue right before the last, the one that climaxes with the
"DOOP-DE-DOOP THE ONE CHARACTER THAT POOR LOST CHILD COULD RELATE TO JUST WALKED BACKWARDS TOO HARD AND NOW THEY'RE FUCKING DEAD AS ALL HELL, RIGHT UNDER THE EYES OF THE CHILD TOO, OH DANG, THERE'S EVEN BLOOD, MAN, THAT'S FUCKED UP AND SAD"

When it's not about love in the face of strange space bullshit, Saga gets overwrought in a kinda terrible way. There's still a part of me that expects it to pull a "For sale: baby shoes, never worn" earnestly at some point.

Need a review on my Image list since I'd like to make sure I am not missing out on any comics whether they slipped through the cracks or I quit too early on the series. Feel free to recommend any from my list that I should drop in favor of others since I don't want to have to spend more than $50-60 a week on comics (Marvel list is large enough already).

My Image list as of 1/5/2016
Black Science
Deadly Class
Descender
Goddamdned, The
Huck
I Hate Fairyland
Outcast
Paper GIrls
Plutonia
Rat Queens
Saga
Shutter
Southern Bastards

I have already given the following a shot:
Low (gave it 5 or so issues)
East of West (gave it 15 or so issues)
Walking Dead (read everything up until the most recent release)
The Fade Out (read 8 issues of it)
Jupiter's Legacy (only read 3 issues)
Lazarus (up to 9 or so issues)
Wayward (2 issues)
Rumble (8 issues)
Drifter (7-8 issues)
Sex Criminals (3-4 issues)
The Autumnlands / Tooth & Claw (6-7 issues)
Injection (2 issues)
Trees (2-3 issues)
Wicked & Divine (10 issues)
Ody-C (2 issues)
Phonogram (2 issues)
Tokyo Ghost (3 issues)
Bitch Planet (2 issues)

So are you planning on trying out all of Image's titles?

Also holy shit I've never really realized how many titles Image is putting out that are that good

Did you try Velvet? Its a solid read with amazing artwork. I havent read it yet but the free preview from Comixology was enough for me to commit to it later. Also, I feel Monstress was really worth at least a try. At $5 for 60ish (?) pages its certainly worth its money. Island is more of a magazine but Graham and Rios are excellent at picking out talent.

Has it been confirmed that that character is dead? She wasn't bleeding that much. I've seen worse.

I don't believe so. Generally when people die
in saga it's real obvious.

Sure Saga has problems but it's easily the book I look forward to most and am thoroughly entertained everytime I get to read more.

saga and deadly class are tied for my favorite ongoing. It would be stray bullets but that would seem unfair to the other two.

Started reading Dixon's Nightwing. I'm two issues into the mini with Land on art. Holy hell! Where did this Land go? This is an artist that I currently won't buy a book if he is in for it, but this art is great! Also, Dick is such a Playgirl pinup in these issues, full page of him in bed in just a man thong. Well played, Land, well played. I wasn't aware that Dick was Batman at some point in the 90s as well. I should probably read Knightfall.

Reading through older comics is making me a little bummed about current issues. Even though this is a four issue miniseries, each issue has a complete arc that feels like it would have gone on for five issues now. I think decompression, along with rising prices of single is moving me away from buying current issues. I barely buy them, I'm busy enough that I don't read the singles in a timely manner anyway, so trade waiting just feels smart for me. I'm still going to buy Gotham Academy and Monstress, as I'm not a saint who can delay gratification forever, but the number of titles I feel this way about is super small.

Some smut also came in the mail and I had to get a 1000 page book to understand why these grown ups were hugging so funny.

The guide to getting it on? I have that book. And so do quite a few of my friends. I can't tell which edition you have but mine has the zipper revealing the title. Good stuff

I want some straight up Sejic porn, that art is sexy as shit
I'm sorry

You're gonna tell me he actually has done erotica or something aren't you?

Thanks all for the congrats! I'm the chuffed Father of a baby boy, who we've called Carter Kingsley Luchador. Over the moon, already read him his first comic, it was Avengers #52 where Black Panther was framed for the death of the Avengers by the Grim Reaper.

Congratulations!

Man really want a Adam Strange book.

So do I. Justice League United was good though. Well, I liked it.

I must admit, I actually dug Watamote. So funny and cringey at the same time.

Eighth edition, second printing. It's got a picture of a couple kissing with a really terrible filter. I'm liking it a lot so far. Sejic is warping my poor puritanical mind. Stupid sexy Grayson isn't helping matters.

Not as far as I know. But it wouldn't surprise me if he had a secret second DA account that wasn't under his real name somewhere, ha.

Just finishing off Flash Volumes 1 - 5 today. Some say that introducing the Flash's most iconic villain into the New 52 would be as interesting and entertaining as the show. But in fact, it was the Reverse...

X-Men is going through it's random writer phase, with various people coming in to write the plots left by Roy Thomas. I've just read maybe two 'good' issues in a row and then suddenly... totally pointless issue to (re)introduce Red Raven. I wouldn't mind so much, as it wasn't terrible, but it came right in the middle of a decent plot involving Magneto's return and the X-Men being left in total peril.

Angel manages to escape, and is off to get the Avengers when he gets caught in a storm and somehow finds a secret long submerged Island that is housing the last of the Birdmen. Naturally the entire issue is a set up with Red Raven telling the entire back story as to why things are as they are for the Birdmen. Of course the entire thing is wrapped up in a single issue, so it just came off as really badly timed and killed the (for once) good pace X-Men had going for it.

I have been enjoying Quicksilvers back and forth between good and evil, which instantly makes him a stand out in the otherwise bland world of characters in the X-Men books right now. I like that his motive in life is to make sure Wanda is safe, it's something different.
I also really like Toad, he's such a great lackey to Magneto.

That's what's been irritating me with Saga lately, it relies too much on shock value I feel.

The last issue of The Fade Out comes out today, and CMX have all the existing issues on sale (use the code Noir) on top of Image doing heavy discounting on old issues already, so the complete series is ludicrously cheap and a must buy.

Also buy the individual issues and not the trades as they're a) cheaper and b) better because of the god tier True Tales of Hollywood backups.

Yeah but: Devin Faraci is a dipwad who's bad at twitter and who probably smells his own farts.

These backups are the best things he's ever done, but, the man is the pits.

PS: when you see who teams up with Midnighter in the new issue of Midnighter you will probably explode with glee

Anyone pick up Uncanny X-men? How was it? Yes yes I understand Greg Land whatever I don't care. The book itself any good?

Oh man I hope he has the hc of hellboy only because the hc has the bigger pages that do the art justice.

You'll have no problem getting through all those books if you love it.

Which you will

He has like a dozen or so of these babies.

Also a good number of TPBs. He told me I'm free to make him my Mignola library, so I'm going at it. He has them all laid out in chronological order according to this:
http://www.multiversitycomics.com/annotations/mignolaversity-reading-order-2015/

I'll finish up Seed of Destruction after work tonight, but the first three issues were great.

Spider-Man/Deadpool was everything I wanted out of the book. Perfect characterization, fun story, great art. Title is added to the pull.

PS. It was supposed to come with Vision #1 but mine came with Vision #3 that was also out today. I wonder if that mistake made it all the way to print or if it's just on digital.

Just Archie, Obi-Wan & Anakin and Spider-Man/Deadpool for me this week I think. Feels good to be cutting down.

Currently sorting through my book collection. A lot of stuff is going to get donated, not many comics though. Probably my issues of Marvel's Mightiest Heroes since I ended up not collecting the series. I might keep Ultron Unlimited though, or I could just get the Busiek/Perez Avengers omnibus.
