My friend, have you ever heard of Instocktrades? If you're in the US, you'll never want or need to shop for comics through Amazon again!

Well, for whatever reason I thought I'd indulge my fandom for the Alien Franchise and bought the Aliens Omnibus Vol 1 second hand. I've since discovered it's a reprint with the names changed (Newt and Hicks were the main characters) and it's coloured (it used to be Black & White).

Looking across the internet I think I'd have preferred the original black and white release by Mark A. Nelson.

And there are times in across the book he puts in some amazing detail to try and capture Giger's crazy visions.

The Aliens comics were written as follow ups to the Aliens movies, and were released before Alien 3. Once Alien 3 was released and it became clear that the Aliens comics were obsolete they went back and renamed the characters - ha!

I'm not entirely sure I like where they're taking the Alien Mythos in Vol 1. I like how they've got the Corporation being evil bastards already, desperate to get the Alien for their own weapons division before the Government can. I like how they are Religious nutjobs using the Alien as it's own God to push their own agenda. I'm not too sure I like the telepathy angle they're pushing with the Alien. It seems to be able to cross into people's dream and give them visions of the Alien being it's 'Mother'. Very odd.
Overall it's pretty sketchy, but they offer one thing I've waited 20 years for - Aliens finally on Earth. It's interesting to see how different groups react towards the Alien, so I hope that continues in Vol 2. But I'm getting the impression these early works are going to be brutal and do more to set up future events more than anything else.

I'll probably end up getting 1 volume a month or so, if only because I'm stupid and satisfy my lust for more Alien movies.

I remember the one novelization of the of the comics where Newt has sex with Hicks.
What were they thinking. Closed the book immeadiatly.

Sick :\

The draw Newt like she's Ripley in Volume 1, I don't know if that's on purpose or not. I'm sure there'll be a reason for it.

Is there a UK Equivalent? I've been using Amazon, Gumtree and Ebay for second hand physical copies. I'm still using Marvel Unlimited the most for Digital, while I've started to dip into the Image site sales.

Oh my, what is this? 5 Cheska posts this month? What's going on!?

You're right! HAHA.

I'm going to use this opportunity to pimp out my new instagram account I've reactivated for my comic/statue picture purposes, check it out s'il vous plait :) https://www.instagram.com/cheskacollects/

And La Maquinon's avatar reminded me that this is the first month I've not picked up Rachel Rising. For those that have been around long enough, you'll know I've alway been an advocate for that series and a huge supporter, but I've reached the point where I feel like the series is dragging on. Have there been any recent series you guys have dropped for that reason? Not because the stories/issues are bad, but because you feel like they've lost steam?

Anyone read Patsy Walker #2? I'm thinking of not pre-ordering issue #4 and switching to MU. Deadline to drop stuff is tonight.

This is fair. When the first arc was still going on, Moore said that he was unsure whether it would continue past that. He said the first 25 issues would be a complete story. And it was. In my opinion, it marks a satisfying conclusion to an enjoyable journey.

He said that he had lots of stories he could tell after that, but I question how prepared he was to continue with the series after #25. An argument could be made that he's basically having fun with giving people what they want post arc 1. Zoe changed a lot after the first arc (which you could say is because the
demon left her, or you could say it was because people love her as a little non literal demon
). There's a lot of seemingly random deaths, Rachel being witchy, The
unlikely pairing
of those those characters whose names I can't remember but you know who I mean. Fortunately, for me, it still works. I'll buy this whole quasi loose plot about Lilith versus Demon devil dude. I'll play along. But it's because I just really love the characters and how Moore puts a book together. And the slice of life style book this has become is still very enjoyable to me. But it's definitely been a different book since the first arc.

Also, I gotta say, a romantic pairing of two male characters whether in novel form or cartoony porn is not sick or gross or whatever, you guys. It might not be what you want to see happen with the characters, but there are others who do. This thread is sounding homophobic, which actually is gross.

If you're referring to the Joker/Bruce thing, that's a pretty gross relationship for different reasons.

Just like all those BatmanxRobin stuff. Like dude basically adopted Dick Grayson, lets have em fuck each other, thats cool and not gross at all

But there's a part of fandom that want any pair of characters to fuck at any moment. God forbid people just be friends, Poe definitely wants to fuck Finn.

Mostly agree. I wouldn't mind if Finn/Poe became a thing. It's equally fine if they're just good friends though.

Not that I know of. I usually use Speedyhen or Amazon.

Speedyhen don't ship to Ireland. =(

I still need the Rat Queens and second Hawkeye OHCs.

They do this stuff with every character from every fandom ever. Despite age, relationship, gender. The only time you hear fans of those character whine about it is when it's turning their previous assumed to be straight characters gay.

Also, you get why there is a fair bit of the gaying of these characters in fanfic, right? Because there is so little representation of gay characters out there. So people make it themselves. And they love the characters so they are fantasizing about them. So what? How does this hurt other fans of these characters?

The debate over BB 8's gender amuses me to no end. Maybe it has no gender? It's a toaster oven with personality programming.

It's a good example of how crucial people make it to peg someone's gender. Heaven forbid you don't know.

BB8 has a soul. I don't trust your judgement on Fallout 4 faction choices.

Robots in Star Wars have a gender programming.
R2 and C3PO are dudes, the one protocoll droid in the beginning of Phantom Menace had a female personality.
