now i have to google Marville to see if this is a good or bad thing.
I did too. I read this from Wikipedia. I have a feeling I know how you will lean

Marville said:
The main character is Kal-AOL Turner, the son of Ted Turner and Jane Fonda from 5002. Kal-AOL is sent back in time via a time machine made out of video game systems. Despite having no superpowers, he tries to be a superhero. After some adventures as a Superhero, he and his friends decide to use their time machine to travel back to the origin of time and talk to God. Jack (who is never definitely stated to be God) takes Al and his friend through the times of the dinosaurs and neanderthals, explaining the origins of life and bestowing the secret of world peace to Al in the process. Al tries to have his story published as a series of comic books to share the secret of world peace, but is rejected because his story is not about superheroes or action.

Just finished Sin City: That Yellow Bastard and... boy, that story really dragged on. It could've been a good 100 pages shorter. It told a decent story, but it just went on and on when it really didn't need to.
With that said, Miller's art was really great as always.

I'm sure there is at least one out there that even you didn't know existed.

Why I Hate Saturn is still out there you guys, Anne and her crazy-vegan-enviromentalist-upbeat sister who thinks she's from Saturn

Marvel/Hickman should have made a continent on Battleworld solely for every Mark Millar written universe on it and have the opening of Secret Wars #1 be a splash page of Millarworld being nuked from orbit.

Who else is enjoying Spider-Verse?

Spider-verse has gotten me reading ASM again (after the terrible first handful of issues), so it's done its job nicely.

Oh man Rocketeer: Cargo of Doom is on sale
on IST. Story was badass, and you can tell that Waid was still on his high from writing one of the best books of the past 20 years.

It's against the ComicsGAF Commandments to make these kinds of statements without telling me what book you're talking about! Reveal it now and you'll only have to read 2 issues of a Scott Lobdell book to absolve yourself.

Heads up to anyone looking for these books. There is a set of Starman Omnibuses on sale on eBay right now listed at $220, and the buyer is willing to accept offers.

I would definitely have bought them if I had my tax return in hand. :(

They can't be serious right now, really? Really? Come on.

I think they gonna have to cancel volume 2 at this point

first time?

I can imagine what waiting for Planetary issues must have felt like.

All terry Moores books. But once kipp gets his SiP books and has posts after posts about how awesome it is, things will turn around.

Oh, don't worry, I informed Messi of SiP earlier this month!
And I don't doubt at all that I'm going to be raving about it for a very long time. I mean, it's over 2000 pages long, so it'll take me a while to get through and I'll likely be raving all the while.
I'm pretty sure I'll order it sometime this winter. Just waiting for a good opportunity to. Some sale or something, or just a moment of spontaneity. I'm really, REALLY looking forward to reading it when I do get to buying it though. I'm craving a straight slice-of-life book like that so badly.

Mine should be here soon too.

You placed your order? Awesome! I'm really looking forward to hearing what you think about it!

Oh man, I almost forgot about that book. Why I Hate Saturn was one of the first ever books to get added to my list of books I need to buy from when you mentioned it a year or so ago when I just started reading this thread/just got into comics. I still really need to buy it. It wasn't on my IST wishlist for some reason, but now it is, so hopefully I'll add it to an order soon.

*Hugs* starman omnibuses tightly. Glad I got them when they came out. The original starman trades were so butchered. They took out all the times past issues and stand a lone issues.

And the planetary wait was excruciating. People trying to compare it to hawkeye have no idea. It's not even close

Lol which book? Rocketeer or Daredevil? Rocketeer is literally Daredevil with jetpacks and planes.

I figured
Seriously one of the flimsiest looking comics I ever seen.

That says a lot coming from a scholar of the digital realm.

I should compare it to my wait for Game of Thrones to wrap up, been waiting 13 years now to book 2.

Have there been other comics that have been released on a very irregular schedule?

Can't wait. I'll get to remember the run through your posts! His stuff is the best.

Yea that's a more fair analogy. And yea there's been books with big gaps in releases. Oddly enough I'm forgetting them! I'm sure others will chime in

How many panels will it take before it gets completely fucking destroyed. I'm guessing 5 or less.

So yeah, just finished Watchmen. Fantastic book, can't recommend enough. By the end, I was feeling the same vibes I did when I finished reading Nineteen Eighty-Four or listening to The Wall.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to reread some My Little Pony to lighten the mood before I go to sleep tonight.

My favorite scene in that entire book is when
Veidt poisons his workers and the butterfly lands on them after they are dead.

I'm sold.
If I happen to make an IST order while that sale is still going on, I'm buying it. If not, I'll buy it someday.

So IST's big Black Friday sale is just an extra 3% across the board for the big publishers? That's... not that exciting. It's better than nothing, but it's not really enticing the money to fly out of my wallet like I was expecting. Plus apparently they're not doing anything extra for Archie books, so I can't even justify a small order by tagging in the Mega Man books I was considering as an option for one of my friends for Christmas.

Ah OK, I wasn't sure when his Rocketeer released, so I didn't know you were talking about Daredevil. I wasn't sure if there was another Waid masterpiece I hadn't heard of or read.

Is that an aka that you're never going to buy it? Lol

Possibly. Haha. There are a ton of books I have every intention of buying eventually, but I can only buy so many books. Luckily life is long, so there's plenty of time for buying up all the comics I want to read, slowly but surely. :p

Has anyone read any of Dave McKean's own books? If they're good, I'd be really interested in checking them out. I'd also like to pick up his Sandman covers book sometime or one of his other art books. Probably after I actually read Sandman though. Haha

First read sandman. He did some collaborations with Gaiman that were pretty good. Look into mr punch. It's a pretty twisted tale. Also I think I'm getting this bad boy just to have quick access to his amazing covers.

You have great taste. I also just picked up Casanova, Saga HC, and have been considering the Strangers in Paradise Omni. You'll have to let us know what you think.

I just finished the final volume of Locke and Key last night. I usually like to read just a few chapters and put it down, but I read the whole volume in one sitting and time flew. That'll go down as one of the classics for me, so memorable, creative, and heartfelt.

I'm really interested to read Saga. It has such a big reputation I'm expecting it to disappoint me, especially since you'll run across the occasional hater who says the whole thing is hype (which I start to by into without even reading -- because it's super popular. I hate myself sometimes.)
